Today I even made an appointment with a notary, only to be told she wasn't allowed to notarize my document and couldn't explain why. I drove to the Burnsville branch, and they took care of it immediately. It's incredibly frustrating that I have to drive farther just to get basic service from my own bank when the closest branch is such a mess.

I love this bank! They have an awesome checking account called "WooHoo". It earns me close to 2%…read moreinterest, which these days is pretty good, so I put all our $$ into that. Plus, this account reimburses me for ATM fees that other banks charge me when I travel. Can you believe that! Every month the bank PAYS ME! Last month they paid me about $20 in interest for the month, plus about $22 to refund me that other banks charged me in ATM fees. Compare this to the big banks. Then there's the customer service which is OUTSTANDING!!! They know me. When I stop into the bank, they say, "Hey John how's it going? How are the kids?" They don't even bother to ask for my I.D., they know me. When I call the bank to deal with something, I get a live person who is helpful and local. They don't have a massive call center in some other part of the world. Really I can't say enough how much I love my bank.

Wells Fargo has been nothing but problems, doesn't matter what location.They have refused to notarize the most rudimentary documents that we had to file for guardianship every year and even refused to notarize my brother's signature on a document with two sentences after my dad died. They always have an excuse. My brother died in April. The bank was notified by the county and contacted me immediately. They wanted a copy of the death certificate and more information and wanted me to close the account. I wasn't ready to close it but provided a lot of documents and spent over an hour on the phone with them. It is June and I went to the bank after work to close the account. I had to send the balance to the county. The lobby is huge with lots of cubicles on one side and offices on the other. Only 1 staff in the cubicle and no customers. I was greeted and the inquisition began. I didn't want to explain everything to someone who wasn't in a position to help me. I didn't want to cry in the lobby. I briefly told him I need to close an account due to death. He goes to the cubicle- again no customers - and comes back 8-10 minutes later. I would need an appointment that would last 1 1/2 hours to close the account. What??? I told him everything was provided and uploaded but no. I think the person in the cubicle just didn't want to do it. He said there was an appointment in 30 minutes and I told him I would take it. He said it probably wouldn't be enough time since it was only 1 hour until closing. I said I would wait. Apparently cubicle person really didn't want to deal with me so I was told I could withdraw the funds and close it later. I needed a check made out to the county, which would have been free if they had closed the account. But I paid $10. At least the teller was competent. They really make me angry. We once applied for a loan to purchase a condo for my son. I told them upfront that a person owned more than 10% of the units and they said it would be okay. We were approved and all of our paperwork submitted weeks in advance. The day before closing I called them (they hadn't contacted me) and they said they couldn't approve the loan because a person owned more than 10% of the units. I told them it was pointed out at the very beginning. Foresight Bank in Rochester did everything for me in 10 days to save the deal. I closed in 10 days. Wells Fargo waited until the last day to tell me. I have lots of other incidents. Hopefully you will avoid Wells Fargo. Anyone else is better.

It's great, as it saves you at least $3 for each transaction if you went elsewhere to do a cash withdrawal. I was in Eagan and decided to check out Apple Valley. I found this branch with a drive-thru and headed over. I found that the signage wasn't the best. The font was small. The signs were maybe two feet high from the ground. I actually did a tour around the branch to figure out where I needed to enter to get to the drive-thru. The drive-thru has two lanes. If you need the ATM, use the left lane. Once I got to the ATM, all was well. I inserted my Tangerine bank card, entered my credentials, selected $10 and $20 denominations, and my cash was dispensed. I like that you can specify your denominations at any Bank of America ATM. If you can't decide, you can let the ATM do a mix for you. It's cool. This branch was fairly quiet on Boxing Day, which was a regular day for Americans. There was a vehicle behind me when I was done with my transaction. I tend to hit the branch at Central Parkway in Eagan. It was nice to find a new location, once I figured out how to get to the drive-thru. (499)
