Repeatedly requested an archived copy of a WFCU generated check to my mortgage company from WFCU IT mgr Kong Hwang. Mr. Hwang never answered internal calls, VM's or emails back to me. MERCHANTS should be leery of accepting drafts from this financial institution. I have had a client twice pay me with drafts, one a CASHIERS CHECK, and both were held up by my bank (Wells Fargo) because, according to WF, Wings CU told them it was a "non-payable" item!! Given the many checks I've accepted over the last 13 years, these were the only ones to be held up or "rejected" as "non-payable", especially when it was a cashiers check! I don't know why, but this is a problem financial institution. If you want prompt payment, be cautious given my experience with them, even if you have a "cashiers check" from this organization! Holding funds on deposits, debits before credits, Fees and more fees. They used to be the best. Loans were smooth and quick now they take days on end and you can't talk to anyone. I have slowly been transitioning and will be closing my accounts as well as my kids! Unbelievable. I don't expect a response. I've had nothing but trouble with this credit union from the get-go. I opened a 0% apr card, transfered a balance, then set up monthly payments, so as to pay it off by the time the 0% apr ran out. However, this transaction was deemed a "cash advance" instead of a "balance transfer," which ended up putting me into approx 14% apr sooner than the 0 was advertised to expire. I accepted this frustration and moved forward with paying off the card. I was married in the midst of being an account holder and sent marriage certificate, driver's license, and social security card to Wings to have my name changed legally. None of these were acceptable, and Wings laid out a lengthy, inconvenient process required for name change. I abandoned the name change. Last month, I was able to pay off my entire balance and finally be done! Only to find out today, that rather than the system recognizing there was a 0 balance and canceling the autopay that was set up. The PROCESSED it. I called two different agents to cancel or reverse this, both of whom told me it "wasn't possible." Unbelievably ridiculous. I'm told I will have to wait until the payment hits my account, then transfer that payment to my Wings savings acct, then transfer again to the bank account that is currently holding those funds for that payment. In the meantime, I will overdraft in my other bank account and incur fees. Wings offered NO assistance in regard to this extreme inconvenience and cost to me. I cannot wait to cancel this account! If I could put zero stars I would. I reported two fraudulent charges (3/24/25 and 3/31/25) they closed the card then a 3rd charge came through. It has been over 6 weeks and I am still waiting for resolution. As today's Visa Fraud & Card Services has credited the 2nd and 3rd charge, though they say they are still investigating the 3rd charge and the first charge has not been credited and that is why I received a past due notice for the 3/24 charge. Wings Collections Dept suggested I pay it so I don't get a late on my credit. Oh heck no! I am so closing this card and leaving Wings as soon as this gets resolved. They have been less than helpful. I have been a Wings member since 1983, and I am going to close out my accounts. They used to be customer oriented, very helpful and professional, and over the last ten years especially they have gotten to the point where they just don't give a flying rip about customer service. I have written and called numerous times and they will apologize (if you can get through to anyone) , but nothing changes. Ridiculously out of date...they don't do wire transfers for major $100,000+ purchases, but put a check in the mail. And sure enough, lost the check! Used their bill payer service for my mortgage payment, and again, they just hire some to , yes, put a check in the mail, and they didn't get my payment in on time. Their online service is abominable, especially considering most of their customers live far from a branch location, and it has gotten worse and worse and worse over the past ten years. read more

Truly 0 star rating! I do not recommend Wings Financial Credit Union. Be advised, they do not set up their customer's for success nor set them up in a positive direction after a hardship. In addition, even after solving and providing a solution to any account related issues, Wings FCU doesn't care an continues to place your account into limited access (restriction status). That's adding a negative experience to their customer's. In addition, I believe they do this on purpose to completely erase you from their system. I find their business practices to be very harmful, and shameful to the consumer's. If you're under limited access (restriction status), you will not be able to utilize direct deposit. This is a poor excuse of a credit union that arbitrarily pulls hard inquiries on your credit report without your knowledge, which lowers your credit score, when you apply to open any sort of account with them, to include savings and checking accounts. To make matters absolutely worse, their phone representatives blatantly lie to you and tell you that they won't be pulling any hard inquiries on your credit report when opening an account. This is ridiculous as there is no remotely justifiable reason for a financial institution to pull hard inquiry credit reports when you are not applying for credit or loans of any kind. They also claim they will call you back and never do. Totally unprofessional. This company's policies are just preposterous, so join this totally pathetic excuse for a credit union only if you are willing to take multiple hits to your credit score just to set up a lousy simple savings and/or checking account. Terrible experience. We were lied to. A "Universal Banking Associates" told us would pay one rate which we had specifically asked about to make sure it was close to the one we paid at our previous credit card company. On the phone the "associate" figured what our payment would be, and it was reasonable. Spoiler alert! - We were lied to about the rate we would be paying. We got our first bill. The amount was almost double what the associate had quoted to us. The associate would not return calls. Did respond to a email. Told us one rate, but we were given another. Defended it by, saying she attached a copy of the truth in lending disclosure that will be coming in the mail with your new VISA. By her own admission, we wouldn't even know about the actual rate until we received our cards. But Wings Financial, can say whatever they think will get you to sign on with them until then. That is one devious business practice. Obviously we were not happy about being lied too, so we left a final message with the associate and said that someone needed to call us, even if it wasn't her. We did receive a call from a branch manager, stating they have no control over the minimum monthly rate. When asked about tlying by being told one rate, but given another, she repeatedly stated that's not the way they do business (by lying), but there is nothing they can do about it. Ironically, lying to us and then denying responsibility was exactly the way they do business. The manager also kept calling the lie a "miscommunication" in some type of weird Orwellian doublespeak. No, it was simply a lie. When we called their customer service number we were on hold for over 30 minutes - I guess there were a lot of complaints! Go elsewhere for your Credit Card needs, if you go to Wings Financial you will likely regret it. read more

I've been an advocate for Wings services for years, but I think that's about to change. They offer a service called Overdraft Protection Plus that is a total load of baloney if you rarely overdraft. I signed up for the service/program because it's lowers the fee you pay if things happen and you overdraft. What isn't readily apparent is that normally you have the chance to waive any fees, but if you sign-up you are no longer able to do so. I almost never overdraft and I made a mistake with changing the date of an auto-payment so I got charged. Now I can't even ask for leniency because I thought I signed-up for something that would protect me just in case...what a load of crap. read more

I applied to join WFCU after reading a review about their credit card program. I did the online application and was approved. Then nothing. I responded to the email I got initially and then someone from the loan dept (Scott) started reviewing the application and again I got another approved notice. Then nothing. Finally after getting a hold of customer service, the savings account was established and my $10 deposit was taken from my current bank. Then nothing. I have emailed Scott, phoned him and now have also emailed Sara (customer service) twice. I have not heard from anyone in over a week and still no credit card. This has been going on now for well over a month. Maybe it's time to give up. If this is how a new account is treated, I can only imagine it doesn't get better. read more

I hv been a member since 2001. I made a $360 cash deposit at a California atm. They held back $149. It was for a payment scheduled to go thru account. I called in advance for assistance to make funds available so that I didn't hv issues about it. They refused to release the hold. Once I got hit with the $30 NSF fee I called to request forgiveness given the circumstance. The denied the request siting I had already been helped in the past. Even though had the accommodated availing the money deposited it would not have happened. Saying all this to say I hope they all Burn In Hell! I am going thru hardship and reached put for help but they did not show any compassion. I've been a member since 1996. I've had loans through Wings and I have a checking and savings account and I've never had an issue with them until now. I travel south in the winter and I rely on the usps to forward my mail to my winter location. Wings sent me a debit card because mine was about to expire the end of February they sent it to my summer address and it never got forwarded to me but it was sent back to Wings, of course Wings canceled my debit card 1 1/2 months early and charged me a $5 fee for an invalid address. I have an automatic monthly charge to the debit card and since Wings canceled the card it never got paid. I was notified of this by the company that was supposed to have received the funds from the automatic deduction. I was charged a extra $10.00 for Wings canceling the card early. I can stand a certain amount of B. S. but when they come right out and lie to me that's when I look at cutting ties even though I've been with them most of my adult life. They did refund the $5.00 dollar fee but I was told to go to the company that did not receive their payment a see if I could they would forgive the charge that was assessed against me for a late payment. The lie? I was told by an agent of Wings that the expiration month on the debit card meant it expires the 1st of that month even though it states on the card that the card is "good thru" that month. read more

New to Minnesota and needing a financial institute. My mother recommended a credit union and this was near my home. Things were fine, i transferred an auto loan that saved me 60$/mo. Eventually my mother left her cu to come to Wings. Most elderly do not bank via online and enjoy their financial independence. Well...if you cant even talk to a person it has been very difficult and frustrating at best. Bless her heart at 85 she will drive 6 miles to actually see a person to do some banking. With the recent AI phone call scams, my mother fell prey. She drove the 6 miles to Wings, withdrew $10,000.00 cash and NO ONE ASKED HER ANYTHING! They let an 85 yo woman walk out with 10k in her purse and said nothing. Shame on you Wings. Absolutely shameful. When CHASE comes to town, we are out. read more

I want to give better review as a 40 some year member. Have had several auto loans with them, personal loans,etc.. I even had to file bankruptcy due to losing a job going on disability but I never stopped making my payments to them. But now living out of state for 25 yrs later I just always thought their website was behind times. Not sharp like my other banks or credit card companies. Then they did a website update that I don't think is a whole lot better. I have had a Wings reward card since 2019. I didn't pay much attention. But all my other credit cards automatically sign you up for the rewards when you get the card. Not Wings! I have tried several times to enroll online but it wouldn't let me, despite knowing I should be eligible. But my patience wore thin and I didn't follow up on it. Yes my fault. So again today I tried signing up and it wouldn't let me. After 5 reroutes in their phone system and one telling me my points should be retro active, ha! So chrome was the browser I was using that was giving me the problem. Told to try different browser and that finally did work. Asked the guy about the retro reward points and he said no only active on enrollment. They need to train their staff better with information AND people who get their credit cards should automatically get signed up for reward points. So disappointed in the decline of what was once a great credit union. Since I don't live there anymore I no longer go to the actual location but the reviews don't do much justice either. Set aside college money in 1yr CD that auto-rolled into another CD as default, never would have chosen that option need the money to for tuition. Phone call confirmed I'm SOL and they get to claw back nearly all the interest from previous year and use my money virtually for free. If you think credit unions are more customer centered model than the big banks you have made a mistake. A bank is a bank and in the end sadly they really don't care about you or me. read more

Terrible bank. They do a hard credit inquiry(as if you are getting a credit card) to open a checking account.

Call center wait times are at least 20 minutes and the "Sky" virtual assistant might be the worst voice routing system available. After banking with Wings since 1989, I'm unfortunately moving to another credit union. Simple test - before you open an account, give Wings a call and time how long you are on hold. Then call another financial institution and see how long they have you on hold. I tried four other credit unions and the Wings wait time was Five times as long as the others.....YES, FIVE times longer than the other four credit unions.......thanks goodness Wings leadership is not in charge of a 911 call center.... read more

Do not join Wings unless you enjoy getting your card declines in public often for no reason. In 2021 I have had my card shut off for no reason at all, with no access to transfer money into other banks a total of FOUR TIMES. It will flag your checking account for security but not tell you what transaction, or even give you a quick courtesy call letting you know. This often happens on a Friday afternoon, the most recent before a bank holiday. Slow customer service where you have to wait 45 minutes with fuzzy hold music and no call back option. Got a fraud charge on my Wings card, called to cancel the card and have it dealt with. Was told I could not talk to the fraud department, but they would call me with in 48hrs. No call, I called back, oh it could take a week... OK called back, finally got to the fraud department who said a week??? no, it takes a month, then we send you a letter with our findings... Today is day 45, after once again running through the off shore can't speak English group who said I was already credited, I was?, they sent me to fraud after another transfer. Supposedly today they have credited my account and I should see it in 3 days. I was looking at leaving Wells, but at least Wells can deal with fraud in less than a week! and not give you the run around!
