Great place to hold an event, because they've got space for everything as small as a wedding shower all the way to a large as an MMA boxing event. I used to come here for kids when it was called Cobo Hall and I would watch the NBA basketball games here. This time I was here for an event for a group of ladies called the Links. Everything really is good here but the food is just okay, but they can serve it fast. Lots of walking here, it takes a little bit to figure out the space but I can also have access to the people over here. There's also inexpensive phone charging equipment. read more

Visited this venue while in Detroit for the Puma Circuit basketball tournament, and it definitely lived up to hosting a large-scale event. It's located downtown and easy to find due to its size, it gives major convention center energy. They do have an attached parking garage, but with how busy the tournament was (teams and families traveling in from all over), it was often full and figured the price would be high, so we didn't park there. There is street parking and several nearby garages, but pricing varies depending on demand. If you have time, shop around for parking because some garages charge way higher. The tournament took place on the main level (first floor), and entry wasn't cheap. They offer both day passes and weekend passes, with different pricing for adults and students. Payment was convenient, they accept both card and cash. For 1 adult weekend pass, it was $75.99. Before entering the main courts area, there were several stands set up where you could purchase drink/snacks. Staff at the entrance checked for wristbands, but I didn't notice strict bag checks so outside bags, food, and drinks seemed to be allowed, at least from what I observed. Once inside, the setup was impressive. There were around 20+ courts (I'd say about 22), signs and maps were available to help navigate. Each court had visible numbering on the basket posts, along with digital scoreboards and shot clocks. I did notice that some games enforced the shot clock more consistently than others which confuses players. Restrooms were located along the perimeter walls, clearly marked and easy to find. For the most part, they were clean and well maintained despite the heavy traffic. Seating was available for spectators, which made it easier to move between games and still find a place to sit. I really enjoyed stopping by the Visit Detroit booth while in Detroit! They had a nice variety of freebies: stickers, pens, and plenty of booklets, maps, and pamphlets highlighting things to do around the city. My adventurous side (and love for a good freebie ) was definitely excited! It was a great way to get a quick feel for what Detroit has to offer, and it honestly made me want to come back and explore the city even more. This is a well-organized venue for a tournament of this size, just be prepared for crowds, parking challenges, and higher entry costs during major events. read more

We gathered at Huntington Place and they fed us dinner. The food was ok. There was plenty of space and the sound system worked great. They also paid for us to park. They were plenty of spaces are close to the door. They also had adequate signage so that we could find our room. read more

Great for a tradeshow! I've been to Huntington Place for a few tradeshows over the years. As far as tradeshows go, here are some key points to note. Large pavilions that can be connected or separated. I believe there are four, but possibly more. Right in the heard of Downtown Detroit, on the rivers edge, overlooking Windsor, CAN. Plenty of hotels in the area, however you'll be paying downtown pricing, unless your tradeshow has secured good rates. Parking is great. There is the option to park in the underground garage, which is two levels. These elevators break out right in the main foyer of the exhibition halls. If the underground lot is full, there is also rooftop parking available. A little bit further of a walk, but not major. In both cases, the parking for the tradeshow that I attended was $25. You pay and get a ticket/receipt as you enter. When you leave, you just drive out. Their pay upon entry is brilliant and more complexes should do this. There is virtually no line when exiting. If there is, it's constantly moving depending on exiting road traffic. You're not jammed up waiting for people to navigate through the ticket exit. Food options are your standard tradeshow food options. Burgers, salads, tacos, etc. It's not spectacular and it's costly. Would I go back? Yes. Huntington Place is convenient and easy. No major complaints. read more

First time visiting Huntington Place for an event tonight. And since events are so unique, based on the event, who is running it, who is there, etc. take my review with a grain of salt. I went for a Democratic Rally tonight with Barrack Obama as the star draw, so I was fully expecting this to be an utter madhouse but it was not, whether due to the attendees or the event setup or a combination, but, regardless, I felt safe and secure there. We arrived early and had our spot claimed and were able to maintain it and even get a little closer at points. Only occasionally did I feel infringed upon someone else's hair or elbows or height and no crop dusting to be smelt...though, after being there for several hours, I'm sure we were all getting a little rank but, what do you expect? I'm sure for different events, where you may be walking around or have some sit-down portions, things might be different. I applaud the security and medical team for their efforts, there were about seven medical events and at least one security event that took place and for the most part, these were handled swiftly by the crew. However, I think they should have had demarcated "no standing" zones to expedite handling of these issues and allow people to traverse easier. These could have been marked on the ground where people could walk in them but not stand in them to allow passage. Also, safety protocols should have been stated or posted (for instance "bend your knees occasionally to prevent fainting; if you don't feel well, try to move out of the crowd"). If there were marked pathways, some people might have felt like they could walk out and come back easier, rather than standing so long that they passed out. I had no problem with bending my knees, moving side to side, etc. because, the name of this place may have changed three times since I moved here, but you could tell, this concrete was the same as the one that was poured when this place was built. Did you know concrete continues to harden for 50 years after it's poured? If you didn't, your feet and legs and back will let you know, this stuff was HARD. Even with our standing-in-place calisthenics, everyone in my group and everyone we encountered, was complaining about how sore they were. So, if you're going to an event here for an event where you may need to stand for three plus hours, find your most comfortable shoes and then go to a store and find that version that's even more supportive and pay whatever the cost because honestly, I wish I had! There were bathrooms, naturally, but I didn't partake because the line for the women's room was a mile long and the men's was 3 men long. Whether that's the nature of the event or misogynistic architecture, I don't know. I will say that the crowd seemed pretty evenly split on perceivable gender, so maybe it is MA that explains the restroom line discrepancy. Lastly, the exit doors, while somewhat ample, were all clustered and, with 12,000 people leaving at once, the venue could have done a better job of directing traffic and having the doors already open to facilitate exit. We left through a less busy door but it slowed us down having to open doors to leave when they could have just been propped open, especially considering elderly or mobility impaired people trying to open doors while navigating devices or less-than-corporative body parts. Overall, I would come back for other events because I'm curious how the space could be configured and used for them (they host the auto show and an anime show is coming up, among many other events throughout the year). Also, there is a People Mover stop that let's out inside the building. I never know if it's running or not but if it is for your event, that would be very convenient. I've gotten off at that stop when I had an event nearby and found out supremely convenient. Cheers! read more

The TFC Center is one of the largest convention centers in the United States. It was formally known as Cobo Hall, and it was a location for a variety of famous events, most notably the auto show. As a building, it's well-suited to the purpose. It's large, there's plenty of room, in the lobby area is substantial enough that it can be used for additional exhibits and, of course, concessions. I honestly would never have thought to provide a review of the building itself. I wish that they were a review of what I saw here today, Van Gogh Detroit. Because of the large space available, this mind blowingly awesome exhibit had to be contained in temporary walls. And, what they put together here was impressive. I almost never record videos with my phone, but I made extensive use of it here. The images shifted and evolved, coming to life on the walls and the floors. I wish I could post videos here to show what I saw. I'm disappointed to find out that the auto show will not be returning here. But, for a variety of other purposes, it is ideally suited. read more

We were here for the Van Gogh Immersive experience and had a great time. I felt safe while there - guests without masks were given one. Hand sanitizer available. Clean restrooms. The exhibit itself was incredible! I can't even put into words how amazing the exhibit was - it started out with static silk screen replications of his art along with key verbiage from his letters to his brother. Recommend this place if you are accompanying (or attending) the Big House Gaming event. We attended our 2nd year in a row with our teen son who is an game enthusiast to say the least. This space is a huge warehouse-like location. Appropriate for the hundreds of monitors, screens, and other devices gamers were seated at. It was set up pretty well to make all cohesive even though a warehouse. This contributed to the a comprehensive festive fun ambience game competitions, big screen viewing in rear, food vendors, restrooms, cosplay, etc. all in one giant room. read more

From taking the ACTs here well over a decade ago, to attending Auto shows here countless times, to parking on its rooftop more recently for work, to attending Beyond Van Gogh most recently, it's safe to say that I have a long-running history with TCF Center, formerly known as Cobo Hall and it tickles me pink leaving this review for it now! I have a long history with this place and this place has a long history with Detroit. The inside still feels grand, despite the place looking a bit outdated, and still hosts tons of important events for Detroit year in and year out. The rooftop parking lot seems to be permanently under construction, which can get tedious during non-pandemic times, but I love this space regardless. It's situated right on the river and slightly removed from the skyline of downtown, so from the rooftop, you get a really nice view of all the skyscraper-esque buildings of downtown. Parking here for work has been a joy! Each morning and evening I walk to and from the rooftop parking lot I look upon a different Detroit, and it fills me with so much pride! This was the venue for the race expo when I was in town for the Detroit Half Marathon. There were several different parking options all within walking distance. I opted for the Federal Place Lot for a flat $10. I entered off of Congress St. The halls were spacious and clean with good signage. Their restrooms were also kept clean when I was there. read more

I came here for the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit this past weekend. The last time I was at Cobo aka TCF Center was in 2008 for the auto show, so it has been a minute. Rooftop parking is $15 and is available on the Congress St. side of the building. From there, you can take the elevator down into the building, although my mom is claustrophobic so she and I took the stairs. The exhibit is in Hall D and TCF has adequate signage, so once we entered the building it was easy to find. There is also a bathroom on the opposite side of the building when you walk in, which was convenient. I would give the Van Gogh exhibit itself five stars out of five, I'm giving the TCF Center four stars because I hate helix-type parking. As an FYI if you go to the exhibit, I had heard that masks were required but only about 10% of the people there were wearing them. read more

Huntington is your average convention center. It has improved quite a bit over the years since the city turned control over to the counties. The newer "main entrance" along the river is cool, but it's underutilized compared to the entrances facing downtown. There is a People Mover station inside the building, which is nice for getting to restaurants and hotels in the winter. Great spot for the annual NAIAS. Some coffee and snack spots on the second floor concourse. Private room or booths on the 4th floor for suppliers and vendor exhibits. Supplier nights are ideal and more laid back and not overcrowded as it is when open to the public. Check out all the new Ford cars and all of those other sub-par inferior competitors. read more

I was here for a huge volleyball tournament this weekend. A couple of things to note for newbies: 1) Arrive early! The line to get into the parking garage is INSANE. There are multiple lanes of traffic merging from several streets to get into the garage and no one directing traffic, so it's complete chaos. I heard about girls missing their first game because it took them over an hour to get into the garage. It took me about 45 minutes of waiting in traffic outside the TCF Center to finally get into the Washington St. garage underneath the building. Once I got in, there were helpful attendants speeding things along by helping people put their credit cards in and handing them their tickets. You pay ($15) as you enter, and parking spots were plentiful. If you park on the main floor, skip the line for the elevator and walk up 1 flight of stairs, which will put you right in the middle of the TCF lobby. 2) Get coffee before you go in. There's a coffee bar, but the line was extremely long. Pro tip: if you only want drip coffee, you can get it more quickly at the little natural/organic shop instead of the dedicated coffee place. 3) $7 for 8 mini cinnamon sugar donuts? WORTH IT. Seriously, these were the best thing I've eaten in a while. Treat yo self! 4) Plan ahead for dinner if you'll be there late. Our games went until 7pm, and when we walked down to the food court we were disappointed to discover it was closed and all the smaller food kiosks were closed as well. read more

We came here for my husband to receive the Phizer Vaccine. When you pull up to the TCF Center, there's a guard there waiting to give you the driving instructions on where to go to get the vaccine, in which you do not have to get out of your car. So the directions were to go toward the rear entrance in which is where the old Joe Louise back entrance near the water. There were lots of signs and police everywhere along with workers directing your next move. The first person tags your car with an A or B in which will let the next person know if this is your first visit or second. Then the next person tags you with a sticky note and the person after that gives you a clipboard with the paperwork you need to fill out before receiving the vaccine, then the following officer directs you into the parking garage in which by this time you are in the same area of the Detroit Princess boat parking area, once you enter the parking deck there are rows of cars lining up with an officer at each row and once you pull up, they take your clip board, have you sign, show your ID and then a few minutes later a nurse comes and gives you the vaccine, hands you your new vaccine card and writes the time of the vaccine on the sticky note and when 15 minutes are up, they remove your stinky note and direct you out. I can say for the amount of cars and people involved, this was very well done and organized! Kudos to whomever thought of this idea and to all those involved in putting this together! There was a sign stating no pictures or video taping allowed, so no pics right now, but when I go back to take my husband for his second I will take the outside pictures . read more

Cobo centre, Home of the Detroit Auto show, Huge convention hall/exhibit hall. lots of private conference rooms, well maintained. variety of parking all around the place if you plan ahead the parking can be as low as $10. in peek times if you want to park closer it is $40. one option is to park close to the People Mover stations and come in that way as well. Only concern was the food court, need little bit more variety, and the prices are high for the quality. they have Andiamo in the first floor, with pasta meet balls and Pizza options. my problem was being a vegetarian. stuck with either a slice of pizza or a wrap from the refrigerator. but not a big deal. they are ok for a quick bite. read more

I have been to Cobo many, many times. My low rating is based on two items. The parking both below (garage) and above (deck) are very bad. Garage is down-right scary -- like a scary scene from a movie is about to happen. The rooftop option is only slightly better. At least it's not claustrophobic. But the ramp going up needs to be repaved and the lot itself needs to be redone and modernized. Very poor. Cobo also has a ton of space, especially in the hallways leading to the main halls. What is the deal, where are the restaurants, food options, sundries, food or coffee carts, seating areas! Pathetic. And because of the odd location in the city, there are no nearby options. Stuck between starving to death or waiting in a long line for below-par food. I would not recommend Cobo for anything other than the space is big. I could go one star, but for its primary purpose as an event center it's ok. But it falls down hard on being a nice venue. Cobo should take a page from other venues or DTW/airport on how to make such a public space awesome. read more

If you have the Money it's so worth the price of admission. 250 a ticket but this Black tie event was amazing and so many great people to mingle and after party with. Everything was top notch and the very classy. Will be a regular event for us from now on. read more

I'm here every year for the international auto show and it never lets me down. The displays inside are top notch, good crowd control, convenient coat checks, decent bathrooms, and friendly staff. After the renovations where Cobo Arena used to be, this place looks fantastic! My only complaint is that the food is way overpriced from the various food vendors. Oh well. read more

This place is top notch. The renovations that have been made over the past few years are remarkable! Cobo is spacious and absolutely beautiful. Most people know of Cobo because it it home to the North American International Show, for which it takes months to get set up (highly recommend going sometime! worth it!) but after being in the city often I know it is also home to many other conventions, galas, dances, competitions, etc. It's easy to get a *tad* bit lost here, as sometimes signs are difficult to be found. The People Mover does make a stop at Cobo and it is one floor above the main hall. There's also a food court of sorts available that's full of quick snacks and lunch option to satisfy any cravings as you're making your way around the area and whatever event you're at. Vending machines are also easily accessible and don't cost an arm and a leg (bonus!) One of my favorite parts of Cobo is their soft couches and chairs. Sounds silly but after walking around all day, comfort comes in handy. Did I mention the couches also have USB ports built in so you can charge your devices while relaxing? Convenient, right? Cobo has been revived and renewed. The place is beautiful and clean. Stop in sometime for a walk or event! read more

Went to the NAIAS on Friday the 26th, arrived at around 1:15pm and all the parking was filled up. But the parking lot attendant was nice enough to tell me to go park on Congress Street, there I should have access to 2 parking lots. Last year we were luckier, parked at the parking garage right in front and to the left of the COBO. Looking out of the COBO. Cause looking at the COBO to the left is the Detroit River. This year that garage was closed for renovations. So finally after driving around, I find the parking on Congress st. The Pakistani dude was very nice, told me I was 3 blocks from the center. I asked him how secure was the lot, to which he replied, that the open air parking lot was not responsible, but he was there till 5 pm and will keep an eye on my car. I thanked him, and started walking. The Cobo center turned out to be more like 3.5 blocks from the lot, that's OK I said to myself, I could use the excersize. I entered the hallway and I asked this lady selling a newspaper/free tickets if you buy the paper where I needed to be, to which she graciously pointed out that she did not know because she was with the paper. I thanked her, and left. Finally I saw the signs for entrance A,B,C and D. I had to go to C. Got there and this dude ran a body scanner all around me and told me to progress inside. I get to the door and this lady sent me back to him to get my ticket scanned. Finally I was allowed to enter the premises after all that confusion. Upon entry, there was the Mercedes lineup to my right and Audi to my left, I was finally there. There were hardly any concept cars this year, normally in prior years they have had concept cars. This year the show was more about what they were going to sell in 2019. There was however a DAC Motors concept car and a Toyota concept car that looked more like a Smart car. I happen to know the brand ambassador of Subaru USA so I stopped by the Subaru lineup and said hello. Then I went wandering around checking out the cars. They even had a Koenigsegg Agerra RS there...although not a concept, but it is a supercar. They run for close to $1.2 million if you can afford them and has a top speed of 247 mph. After taking close to 160 pictures, I finally left around 4pm. read more

Had an event here I attended. It was clean and bathrooms usually were well kept. They really couldn't figure out the heating. The first day everyone was freezing wearing jackets inside, the next day we were sweating. The food was okay, pretty bland, but they always had vegan options and tons of options generally. The staff was hit or miss when it come to being friendly - most times they were talking to each other instead of being available for questions, serve food, etc. Overall it was fine and clean but nothing great. read more

Went to the "How to Make Money on Ebay 2019" Conference learned more than I thought I would. Presentation was simple and to the point. More importantly, Mr. Moseley did not talk to fast. These young folks these days talk so fast that it's hard for me to understand what the heck they are saying but not Vern. And there was no profanity ( I cant stand that). I don't come into the city often but this event was one I would happily make the trip for. read more

Always love when they're events in Detroit. Especially the NAIAS which is world known and everyone comes in to check out the new cars. The car displays, booths, and just seeing all the people. It's always a great turn out. I go almost every year to check what's new and what's gonna come out in the future from next year models to prototypes. This year we had the NSX, Ford GT and of coarse the new Lego Bat Mobile on display to at this year. Being downtown,parking isn't really an issue as there tons of parking structures and Cobo has its own parking as well but that usually gets filled up quickly. But all around the center is $10-15 so it's not too bad. read more

This is a nice place to attend an event. The food has been good, and overall the facilities are good. My only complaint would be some of the bathrooms have been in poor repair and the sensor sinks and soap almost non functioning. Nothing is more fun than getting soap all over your hands and then struggling to get the water to work to wash it away. read more

I've been coming to Cobo Hall on and off for years now. Mostly for the auto show, but I think they also have Autorama here in the spring, if I'm correct. Place seems to be in really good shape, with a people mover stop, and lots of little meeting rooms. I like the layout, easy in easy out. Lots of access doors, carpeting's in good shape, windows galore. They have some food options on the main floor, which I absolutely love! coffee, a natural place and a few others as well. The Detroit Shoppe's in here as well, with a nice but limited selection of items to choose from. Bathrooms are random and infrequent, and hard to find at times. I had to ask where one was, and it was not signed! If I hadn't asked for directions, I would have never known it was there. More signage please! As another reviewer stated as well, benches by the bathrooms would have been awesome as well. Parking is limited, and if you park off site and shuttle in on the people mover, your bound to have better luck. I don't know how much it costs to park in the structure, but if you poke around there's other parking available throughout town. For big events, like the auto show, I was told that you can park at Greek Town casino and shuttle in here on the people mover for a whopping 75 cents. Overall, I have to say, the place has really held up over the years, and seems to be in good shape. No formal complaints, really and I'm sure I'll be back for other events in the future. read more

Big giant convention center where big giant conventions come to convene. Yes, this gigantic hall can handle almost any type of convention known to man. From guns to cars to boats, they can all do it here. Home to the North American International Auto Show, there's just not a more proper venue than here at the Cobo Hall. It's right smack down the middle of the city. Accessible by, car, bus or people mover. It's right next to the Joe Louis Arena, so if there is ever a convention and a Redwings game, make sure you come early because the streets will be hell. Not that I mind, it's just I've done it so many times that it doesn't bother me anymore. Make sure you use the cobo hall parking,, it's only $10 and 50% cheaper than most of the the parking spaces around the city read more

Compared to other convention centers, Cobo is sadly on the bottom of the list... years of neglect has taken toll on this facility.... but thankfully, with new management group and $300 million in renovations, things are looking up for Cobo and I can't wait until the renovations are complete. I only go once a year, if that, when the auto show comes to town... the one thing I appreciate is how the people mover is connected, so I'm not freezing my behind off while visiting... if you gotta go, park at the greektown casino, take the people mover.... the casino might charge you for parking there, so get the players club card and you can park free... works for the tigers and lion game days as well :) read more

I totally enjoy going to events that the COBO... yes parking is expensive but experience is grand. I usually go for the car and hot rob show but this event I went for the Detroit Derby Girl which seating were cheap and drinks were high. It doesn't have tough security so outside food is allowed as long as you aren't caught. :) Once again.. .get your walking in and park at Greektown. read more
