This property is housed in the 1925 Metropolitan Building, a stunning Neo-Gothic "Jeweler's Building" that sat vacant for nearly 40 years. Seeing it restored to its former glory rather than being demolished is a win for the city.  The entrance lobby and the grand stairway to the second floor are phenomenal--the restoration team clearly put a lot of heart into preserving the marble and the ornate details. Because the hotel has to conform to the original historic footprint, the rooms are unique and oddly shaped. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay somewhere that broke out of the usual "cookie-cutter" hotel mold. My room featured a long internal hallway, a small kitchenette, and enough windows to provide a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline.  Check-in was seamless, and the staff were excellent throughout my stay. I initially considered subtracting a star because my room lacked a steamer, but the breakfast service won me back. The made-to-order omelets and the yogurt granola station were top-notch, and that high-quality start to the day made up for any minor room omissions. If you appreciate architecture with a history and a bit of character, this is definitely the place to stay in Detroit.

It was completed in 1929 during the city's automotive boom. It is also often referred to as the Cathedral of Finance. It's a breathtaking Art Deco design inside and out. Make sure to take time to appreciate the detail, that makes it so special. The bold colors, the amazing tile work, and vaulted lobby are stunning. It history and beauty makes it so much more than "office building". We lucked out and found street parking but would have paid for a garage. It is absolutely worth stepping inside to look around. I came here for Yelp's Nauti by Nature party and had SO much fun. This space was perfect to host it, with grand balconies, an amazing view, and interesting spaces. This boat house has been flooded multiple times, and they're currently working on restoring it, room by room. Our event was a fundraiser for the building, in an effort to return it to its previous grandeur. Currently, it's still beautiful and majestic, just dated and in need of some repairs. Highly recommend - we'll be back again as we enjoy distillery tours and usually have to go to Kentucky for good ones like this.

Attended this wonderful class as a part of a Yelp sponsored event. The venue is a really cool shed…read morelike structure that was comfortable and clean. Very large so everyone in the class was comfortable. Brought our own yoga mats, but they provided blocks and stretching straps. Our instructor Lauren was so nice and very personable, but most importantly, a great instructor. The moves she led us through were all pretty basic, but that was fine by me as I'm a newbie to yoga. My wife, who does yoga regularly, loved the class as well. The thing we both really enjoyed was the meditation at the end. Lauren led all of us into a state of relaxed bliss at the completion of the yoga portion. We didn't try any of the desserts provided, but everyone seemed to be really enjoying them. Kudos to Yelp for getting me to try, and enjoy, yoga. Something my wife had been trying for a while to get me to do. We will definitely be back and look forward to exploring the interesting neighborhood it is located in as well!!
