So finally I had to settle on a different cake which had to be re-iced in order to make it suitable. The cake looked pretty good, but to be honest it isn't that hard to make chocolate look good. I don't think I've ever been more disappointed would've been better off buying an Iceland's gateau. The cake was stale, I can only imagine how long it had been since it was made. Admittedly the icing wasn't terrible but the cake was so bad that my brother who would usually eat anything, including my awful cooking couldn't stomach more than two spoonfuls. Everyone that was served the cake ended up throwing it away, we still had half the cake left which also had to be thrown away. Waste of money. If you're looking for a cake from an asian store you're better off going to Banoful across the road from this place, or better yet my personal favourite - Patisserie Valerie in Spitafields is a good choice, definitely worth the money.

Inside, they have more pastries (including Danish pastries) and savoury tarts as well. They have quite an extensive eating area, so we went for tea and tarts; my friend had the blackberry crumble tart, and I had the pear and almond tart. Both were very nice indeed - my pear and almond tart was wonderfully fresh, not too sweet, but a lovely caramelised texture - a bit of resistance, but not chewy. Staff were friendly and efficient, happy to give advice on their products, and also to let us linger. I'll certainly add this to my list of places to catch up with friends.

Was a bit solid at first to break, definitely need to use that knife, and crack it open, but once I got past that, was the softest, tastiest, not chewy either, full of flavour that jam, and the extra helping of the sauce made it simply sublime! I actually fell into heaven! My friend loved her Fraisier. Presentation is eye catchy, everything is presented so beautifully! A must recommend if you are in the area!

So when it comes to Cakes I generally think of only two places, Hummingbird Bakery or Patisserie Valerie. I had no idea about other cake places. There is a reason for that. I work around Liverpool Street and for all office events, we generally get pastry and cakes from these places. But I knew, I couldn't come to Liverpool Street to collect cakes on the special day. Ordering for delivery was too late. And I also had to make sure the cake was vegetarian as my special someone is Vegetarian. Cake mission just got harder. So I googled some vegetarian cake shops near Lewisham and this one popped up! Right next to my place, barely half a mile. But their website is absolutely shit! Try it, I'm not joking, I told them too. They said they were working on upgrading it. But this is absolute shit. Even a child can design a better website. Any cake you select, it gives you the same description and every cake has a 7 character long identification number which only makes sense to them and not the customers. Being a software engineer, that irritates me a lot. It even made me wonder if the place was trust worthy. See what a bad website does to your business... Keep that in mind the next time you think about starting a business and call me if you need a good website. But having seen their shop before on the high road, I decided to trust them. I made a choice online and paid via Paypal and silently wished there was an Undo button. But next day morning, they called me and confirmed the order and said that the cake would be ready for collection by 3. As mentioned earlier the shitty website didn't give them much information to make the cake, so they had to ask me again what size the cake was etc. And long story short, I collected the cake, planned the surprise and it was the moment of truth. The CAKE was fabulous! Absolutely mouthwateringly soft and delicious. Not too sweet, nor too creamy, just the right consistency, the perfect balance. I was perplexed but also very happy. After all my choice had only two outcomes, good cake or bad cake and this one was positive! Phew! Looks are deceptive, I mean, if I were to judge the shop by the horrible website I wouldn't have ordered this. But this was uniquely unbelievable! It was quite a lot of cake for the money, for 42 pounds you get an 8 inch chocolate/vanilla cake surrounded by chocolate/vanilla cupcakes with your choice of fruits or cream on top and of course the writing on top of the cake. I just wish they could expand this bakery to the USA because this place would win over the hearts of many! What's even cooler is that they sold their own cookbook with a lot of their recipes inside.
