I hired Jeff and his company, Husky Pavers, to complete the hardscape and landscaping for my back and side yards. Starting with the good, The majority of the project looks real nice. The main patio, the planter wall, the customer spa surround with stairs looks great. As dies the front path to the gate. However, in hindsight, they are not getting my highest rating, primarily due to several misrepresentations and quality issues that began at the very start of the project. From the beginning, I was told they don't subcontract--that all workers were direct employees of the company. That turned out to be false. Additionally, they piled dirt, gravel, and debris in the street in front of my house. I was assured this would only be for a few days, but in reality, the pile remained for the entire duration of the project, which took twice as long as I was originally quoted. They claimed the materials had to be left there because there was no space in the backyard. However, I own one of the largest lots in the neighborhood, and even neighbors having pools installed never had material piled in front of their homes. I received multiple HOA complaints, and Jeff was unwilling to make any adjustments to stay in compliance. During the project, they completely trampled my already-finished front yard, including lighting wires I had carefully installed myself. There was absolutely no reason for them to disturb the front yard, especially the low-voltage power cable, which I had been extremely careful not to sever. That cable is critical, as any breaks can result in intermittent or non-functioning lights. Despite this, they severed the cable in multiple places, rendering many of my front lights inoperable. The transformer I installed had three distinct zones, so there was no need for them to interfere with it at all. When I brought it up to Jeff, he said they'd fix everything at the end. Although they did replace some plants and got the lighting operational again, they never reburied the wires. I had to go back and do that myself after the crew had left. Before signing the contract, I requested a drawing or diagram to ensure all features were accounted for. I was told they would simply use the one I had provided. That was a mistake for me to accept that response. They only referenced my diagram when it suited them, which led to items being left out and me having to pay for a change order later. Lesson learned: get a formal diagram and have it signed off before proceeding. Regarding lighting, I explicitly told Jeff I did not want lights installed on the side yard, as I planned to do it myself. He insisted, saying, "I don't want to leave it unlit--I want it perfect for you." He told me in a text message, he'd normally charge $1,800 (for 12 lights total), but he'd do it for just $140. Since that was only slightly more than the cost of the lights themselves and I already had leftover wire, I agreed. However, after the lights were halfway installed, I received a bill for $1,400. When I reminded him of his written quote, he admitted it was a "mistake" but only offered to lower the charge to $400. I believe this was a deliberate bait-and-switch tactic. A professional company with integrity would have honored the original quote. I told him to remove all the lights and take the charge off the bill. I also had a paver firepit installed on one side of the house. The circular opening for the fire feature was badly misshapen, not remotely a proper circle. Additionally, several of the pavers used in the sitting area and around the firepit had been used as workbenches, resulting in large gashes. Rather than replacing them with new pavers, they flipped them over and installed them anyway--leaving visible damage. When I pointed this out, Jeff said it would be fixed. They spent another week trying to correct the firepit. When he asked me to inspect the result, it was no better--in fact, it looked worse. It was now also unlevel, with additional chipping caused by the rework. As I was due to leave for vacation soon, and fearing it would look even worse if redone a third time, I reluctantly settled. It still looks absolutely awful (see pictures). I asked them to clean the street and driveway where they had made a mess. Although they pressure washed it, they didn't fully remove the marks and stains many of them oil stains from their trucks leaking oil on the pavement. My driveway still has large black marks. This is a new subdivision where most homeowners are also landscaping or even installing pools. No other house has anything close to the mess they left in front of mine (see pictures). They also followed a typical pattern you often hear about with some contractors. Right before a payment installment was due, a large crew would show up to push progress, only for work to stop for a week after the payment was made. I was told early on they only work on one project at a time and that this wouldn't. read more

What a great job by Husky Pavers! I interviewed several people for the front yard project. At the end, Jeff got the contract after submitting a detailed quote which no one else provided. His quote left no doubt of where my money was going. He assigned a team to my project, and I got a great crew that stayed with the project from start to finish (Benjamin's crew). In about 5 weeks my entire yard was transformed from dirt to our dream front yard. We demolished the concrete driveway and had it replaced with a pavers. In addition, we had a grand entrance of pavers and super-sized pillars. We added contemporary block flower beds and some artificial grass to finish the job. When he was there, he pointed out some errors the previous contractor did (we had told him we were not happy with how they did the backyard and asked for his professional opinion.) As far as the work goes they did a good job. The owner Jeff was friendly and professional. My issues with them were: (1) I told them to lift the AC condenser and paver under it but their guys kept trying to go around it, I had to call Jeff 3 times until they finally did what we agreed on (2) There was no foreman or project manager on-site for me to talk to and there was a bit of a language barrier with the workers; Jeff even had to call me to wake up early and receive the paver delivery from the vendor because nobody was there yet (3) They left a massive mess; instead of using water or a broom, they basically blew all the dust everywhere... into both my neighbors yards and all over my house. My neighbors were pissed and I bought them each a 12 pack of beers to apologize. They also left all kinds of trash like coke cans, water bottles everywhere. (4) They damaged my patio stairs because they didn't lay down a towel or something when they put the ramp down to move gear. I did reach out for the owner and he refunded me $50 for repair which was nice, but extra headache I had to deal with On a positive note, their work was good and the patio looks good; their worked fast, and they gave a cash discount. I think if they tighten up their operation a little bit with, with attention to detail, they can be a 4-5 star vendor. read more

I told Jeff the look I wanted to replace old, cracking cement in my backyard & he introduced me to a great paver product I'd not heard of and ended up using. His crew was spot on-time throughout (7 am start...Ugh!), professional and exceptionally hard working and the job was finished when they said it would be!! The end result was much better than I could have imagined! Clean up was...well, unexpected to say the least. They needed our driveway to deposit the sand, stone/gravel and pavers. When they were finished, they not only hauled away leftover product & swept the drive....they also cleaned the street in front of the house!! WHO DOES THAT?? HUSKY PAVERS does that!
