We try to check out a new place during each trip and wound up back at river city brewery. However! There was great live music coming from across the parking lot. Taking a closer look, we thought... cigar bar? Let's check it out. And I am glad we did! Mort's has such a great atmosphere! The girls working here are so cute, friendly and helpful! My partner is a cigar smoker but it was my first time. We opted for the Havana Honey, which was a smaller cigar. Our server got us all set up and that choice was pretty good! I now see the hype. They have a large drink menu but I stuck with a Michelob Ultra. We came back the next day and Sundays was $1 off drafts so we did the same thing again. The live music was great. Mort's has live music EVERY DAY! I love bars with live music and the fact that they have it every day is a reason we went back the next day. I can't wait for our next trip back to Wichita because we will definitely be heading to Mort's again!

Next I had the espresso martini which was equally good. There is an outdoor patio for cigar smoking, which is tented in with heaters. It was actually warmer on the patio than it was inside the location. The live music was enjoyable and the singer played a lot of 60s and 70s easy listening.

Stepping inside I fell in love with the atmosphere, lovely murals on the wall and themed decorations really sets the mood; I also love that it's common practice to leave hookah bars very dimly lit, and I feel like other bars and restaurants should follow suit. They have a decent flavor list for tobacco, the server had recommended a rose/mint/peach blend that was really tasty. I ordered a drink, a tequila mule, which was alright... I had never tried a mule before, and I forget I don't particularly care for alcohol mixed with soda. I was surprised by their kitchen menu as well: typically with hookah bars you get either good food or alcohol, and this place had both! We ordered hummus, which was good, and chicken wings which were very messy (I probably could have used a few more napkins) but had great flavor. I also like the fact that they are open so late, it gives me more options for late night places to go. Honestly, if this place had karaoke, I would be here constantly. Now, the only thing I didn't care for is the service. The woman was sweet enough, and I don't know if it is just common for hookah bars to leave the patrons hanging for extended periods of time, but that seems to be the general problem I have. It is one thing if you're only smoking hookah, maybe you don't want to be disturbed every five minutes, but I was also trying to order drinks, order food, get refills, get napkins for my messy wings, etc... And it was hard to find her. We gave her a long time to leave the check, and we finally just added up what our total was in our heads, tracked her down and gave her the money by hand (I don't like leaving cash on an empty table). That is the only reason I did not give this place 5 stars.

While I made multiple visit to similar hookah lounges in the area during a weeks stay, I avoided this place after 1st visit. Could be an exception for the day but the first experience with a group of friends wasn't that great. We had to divert some of our other friends who were supposed to join us to a different location. Would definitely come out when I am in city next time give it one more chance
