I smoked my first cigar at Mort's! Lol. We were in town for our once a year business trip to check up on properties. We try to check out a new place during each trip and wound up back at river city brewery. However! There was great live music coming from across the parking lot. Taking a closer look, we thought... cigar bar? Let's check it out. And I am glad we did! Mort's has such a great atmosphere! The girls working here are so cute, friendly and helpful! My partner is a cigar smoker but it was my first time. We opted for the Havana Honey, which was a smaller cigar. Our server got us all set up and that choice was pretty good! I now see the hype. They have a large drink menu but I stuck with a Michelob Ultra. We came back the next day and Sundays was $1 off drafts so we did the same thing again. The live music was great. Mort's has live music EVERY DAY! I love bars with live music and the fact that they have it every day is a reason we went back the next day. We found this cool gem walking around old town Wichita on a Sunday night. We heard the live music on the patio and decided to go in. The restaurant has an extensive cigar list as well as an extensive martini list. I decided to go traditional with the 007 martini. It was fantastic. Next I had the espresso martini which was equally good. There is an outdoor patio for cigar smoking, which is tented in with heaters. It was actually warmer on the patio than it was inside the location. The live music was enjoyable and the singer played a lot of 60s and 70s easy listening. read more

My husband and I were staying in downtown Wichita for two nights so we looked for places to check out. We found a brewery and were enjoying it, but noticed that many folks were going into a business nearby. We wandered over there and discovered Mort's Martini Bar, which happened to have live music on the patio and half-priced drinks! We parked at the bar and quaffed dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives and snarfed an order of wonderful hummus. Super! We loved it so much we went back the next evening and listened to wonderful jazz on the patio along with more of the above (two orders of hummus with dirty martinis, please!). Stopped in this place for some live music and a nightcap before heading back to hotel while in Wichita for a conference. 1$ cover charge in a Thursday night. The patio is covered and it's heated and has large fans so good for all types of weather. Cool decorations and large screens to watch the games. Over 100 martinis and a good whiskey, wine, and beer list, too. If you like cigars, you can do that as well. Smoking is only allowed on the patio and only sit in this location if you're ok with lots of cigar smoke. It is well ventilated but there's still a lot. Drinks were good, band was so so, but a fun place and I would return. Lots of locals there on this week night and it has a great vibe and service was good. read more

Came here late on a Monday afternoon to visit friends on my trip to Wichita. Huge menu of martinis, almost too many to choose from, but definitely any flavor you could want. I had the Funky Monkey and the Banana Cream Pie, which were both good, but tasted more of sweetness and juice versus alcohol. I would order the Banana Cream Pie again, but save it for a nightcap. My friends ordered chips and salsa as well as cheese and crackers. I have to say the food was super basic, but for the price, you couldn't complain. Overall, ambiance was fun and lively, prices were extremely low (although I live in NYC so I was shocked to see a martini less than $20). I also left smelling like smoke so I wouldn't recommend wearing clothes you don't want to get dry cleaned. Good place to have fun with friends! Just an amazing experience! My sister had raved about this place so we had to go see it. We were lucky to sit close to we're the band was playing and they were amazing! I was also pleasantly surprised that they had mocktails! Not many places do and some just aren't willing to make them but here they had a decent selection. I got a mocktail Moscow mule and it was delicious and the vibe of the place is great I didn't miss the alcohol! Monday Martini happy hour made for an amazing deal as well as an opportunity to explore a ginormous range of martini offerings at HALF PRICE. The complimentary popcorns were yummy. The spinach artichoke dip/chips were standard fare likely straight from Sam's Club, but they worked for us okay. Service was super cheerful, fun, great tips/advice, and quick. Wish I recalled name of our server. Ambience- hmmmm. Well, we sat on the patio. There's really no comment to make here. It wasn't bad, and it wasn't good. The menu is so extensive you can just close your eyes, whirl a finger around and stop on a drink to try something new. The 5-star review is weighted based on my expectations going in...verse the actual experience I received. It was my fourth stop at Mort's over the past 2 years (I travel and stop by whenever I'm in town). In most cases, I've enjoyed live music while also sitting on the patio with a cocktail and a cigar, while also watching one or more sports on TV. And if that was all I had to say about it, I would probably offer 4 stars without reservation. But the music is usually quite good. The outdoor seating (with heaters on cold nights) is a bonus. The $5 Mort cigars are a bonus. The SUPER attentive servers is a bonus. And tonight - I had the pleasure of sitting with Mort himself, hearing some of the stories and laughing my @$$ off for a couple hours. A great time for me and my friends -- and, once again, I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

Hands down I'm obsessed with Morts! Been coming here for 1 year or so. I love it and everything about it. Came here Friday and back again Monday for half price martinis. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! We came here after dinner one night and this has to be one of the best finds. This place was so much fun! We came on a Saturday night in November. We sat outside, which is partially enclosed and heated - and plenty warm (trust me, I'm always freezing). There was a live band and they were great! They took requests and did suck a great job. The selection of martinis is just crazy. We had the chocolate-covered cherry and coconut cream pie and those were so good. Way too easy to drink too much. They offer a variety of cigars and everybody was having a great time, dancing, smoking, and drinking delicious martinis. We would drive 7 hours back to Wichita just to come here again! read more

I have been coming here for more than a year, since this work gig took me away from San Fran, and I gotta give the owners, Morrie and Emma a shout out. They have an outdoor patio that is covered, and has California heaters for the chilly winter nights. The patio is considered an outdoor space, so folks can smoke here (Morts is a martini AND cigar bar). The drink selection is wide. Yes they have a drink menu, but the mixologists behind the bar can make anything you want. Mondays are martini nights at half price :) This year, they added a couple of small plates to nosh on, nothing complex, but better than just the popcorn they have. Cigar menu has 5-6 good choices. Live music during the weekend can be loud for a conversation, and occasionally they charge $1 at the door. Staff is super friendly, and they all know what I drink, so they just bring it when I sit down, or at most they'll ask: "The eujjj?" Short for usual. I can't imagine an adult Wichitan who doesn't know Morts, so if you're visiting, go here! read more

So my friends picked this spot because I enjoy a fine cigar and I am currently not drinking so this gave me something to do while hanging out. Shout out to them for thinking about me. This spot is a pretty cool spot. At first glance, it looks just like your run of the mill dive bar. I appreciate this look because I identify as a dive bar person. Once going inside, the theme is about the same. It is not a dirty spot. There are just bar signs throw throughout and a popcorn machine in the corner. I loved it. We sat down. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. She was also very attentive. The selection of cigars was great. There was a lot to choose from. Each cigar had tasting noted next to it on the menu. I enjoy that because I know the type of cigar I like but not versed enough to be a cigar snob. She offered to cut it and brought out a torch and matches depending on what I wanted. It was a great spot to smoke a stogie and hang out. My group drank the martinis to which they said they were really good. Some cool jazz music started playing after a bit of being there. Live music wasn't our scene because we wanted to chat but the music was good. Overall, this spot was awesome. Reasonably priced and very welcoming. Really enjoyed this Martini bar, we came in on a Monday for 1/2 price drinks. Absolute madness as far as busyness but the servers were very efficient and upbeat. The selection of drinks is astounding and they were all delicious. I got the Raspberry Tuaca, what a great choice. I loved the ambiance and the black and white photos all over the walls and ceilings. The patio is a cigar bar, so it's a stink fest, but the interior is smoke free and air conditioned. They must also have a great filtration system because, despite of the ins-and-outs from patrons and servers, there was no smoke smell indoors. However, if you are looking for a quiet spot to talk this is not it. Even during the winter months this spot is great since their tables have fire pits. Great service! Great martinis! There is a martini or 10 for everyone at this place! The menu of all the possibilities is somewhat overwhelming. Happy hour prices are fantastic. Sitting on the covered patio is nice even when it's cold outside because the outside heaters are magical. I wish there were more options on the food portion of the menu but I get it - it's not the concentration. Also don't like coming home smelling like cigar smoke but again it is a cigar bar! Occasionally I struggle with the rating for a place due to mixed feelings - this is one of those places. I have been here 3 times now while in Wichita on business - so view my comments from that perspective. In summary, I like going here, have met some fun people here, and will return. But I am disappointed by the foo-foo nature of the so called "martini's" that they serve. Ok, maybe I am being a old fart, stuck in my ways. But that is who I am and I won't apologize. A martini is a martini - fine if you want vodka instead of gin, or a vesper (gin and vodka), but "Godiva chocolate infused vodka, Godiva white chocolate liquor, and dark creme details cacao"? That, my friends, is a dessert, not a martini. And a Cosmo is a Cosmo - just because you serve it in a cocktail glass (what some of you refer to as a martini glass) does not make it a "martini" - just like a Manhattan is not a Martini, even when it is served in the same type of glass. I guess I am sounding like an old grumpy guy, and I don't mean to be down on Mort's. I like going there. I am just a little frustrated since we went there because everyone talks about their great "martini's", But what I saw was a menu of sweet concoctions meant for a younger crowd that thinks they are being cool drinking "martini's" when they are really just drinking sweet dessert drinks. What I like about Mort's: - fun and casual atmosphere, unpretentious and entertaining - friendly bar staff - fun ad friendly crowd - outdoor area for nice evenings (or smoking) - a couple of TV's for catching the game (and the TV's are nicely placed out of the way so they do not dominate the bar) - a few snack offerings to mellow out the alcohol - good, strong, decently made cocktails - reasonable prices and good drink specials What I didn't care for as much: - limited selection of top notch spirits - particularly gin, vodka, and bourbon Note 1: in a quality true martini, the flavor of the spirit dominates. Thus martini drinkers tend to have a preference for a particular gin (or vodka) so it is essential that good selection of quality gin (or vodka) be available to meet their preferences. Note 2: the same applied to bourbon or rye for a Manhattan - Stir!!!! Or at least be prepared to stir. For most people other than James bond, a proper martini (or Manhattan) is stirred. Shaking chips and melts the ice too fast, watering down the drink. It also makes it cloudy with ruins (in my opinion) the visual appeal of a clear amber Manhattan. Note 3: the bartender seemed surprised when I asked for my second Manhattan to be stirred, and then didn't stir it long enough. - They need to have proper ingredients. My original order was for a vesper - gin, vodka, and Kina Lillet. The first bartender didn't mow what it was. The second did, but admitted to not having the Kina Lillet. Did they have Lillet Blanc? No. How about Cocchi Americano as a substitute? No. Not even Orange Bitters. The suggestion was to use Stoli Orange flavored vodka. Sorry - see note 1 above. - But if I wanted a chocolate vodka drink, I was all set So you see where I am going with this. I'll go back to Mort's the next time I am in Wichita, but now that I know what they think a martini is I will stay away from those. read more
