My mother was having problems with the waste line from the washing machine. I am an out of state contractor, but was able to work with the friendly customer support person to arrange for a service technician. I made them aware of pets in the house. The technician arrived a couple of days earlier than the appointment date and efficiently snaked the drain. Mom was able to do the wash that day and they did not try to take advantage of her price wise. The technician was friendly and professional. We replaced our 18-year-old HVAC system with a 2-ton Rheem unit from Hutchinson Heating & Cooling in early August, based on a family recommendation. From day one, the system has been a nightmare. Our home now has indoor humidity between 60-80% day and night. Hutchinson sent six different technicians, all of whom admitted the original crew failed to properly seal and insulate the ductwork. Still, the problem persists. Their "solution" was to tell us to run a dehumidifier 24/7 (which only spiked our electric bill) or to pay another $2,500 for a "band-aid" dehumidifier that wasn't guaranteed to work. I needed a part replaced in my heater. The guy gave me a quote of $1,000 for labor, as the part(s) were covered. That seemed high, but labor rates are high now, so I figured it was maybe an involved repair of 4-5 hours, at $200-$250 an hour, which would not have shocked me. He was done in less than an hour. Three years ago Hutchinson Air Conditioning Heating, Plumbing installed a Lennox HVAC System in my home, which the installer technician did a great job. However, the technician sold me an extended warranty that would cover the repair cost for ten years but does not include labor cost and tax. Three years later the company is refusing to honor such agreemen. Needless to say the actual HVAC Unit was never registered with Lennox which would have been a 5 year warranty covering the unit parts an addition to Huntingson 10 years Extended warranty. Since the unit was never registered with Lennox it immediately disqualified my chances of using another company to complete the repair and save me on parts cost. Had them install a new furnace and water heater in our house a couple years ago. The furnace had a gas leak right after the installation, then multiple more over the following weeks. The technicians that did the installation were rude and didn't even turn the water heater on, they just left in a rush with gas leaking from the newly installed furnace. Mixed bag of technicians. Some are very good other not so. Lately we have had more not so good. Today had the air conditioning serviced as we always do. Everytime they service our system, they push something else to buy, ( often it is not needed) more like salesman then technicians. Maybe they have quotas? When the technician left after serving the air conditioning, our heater stopped working . The heater is now turning the air conditioning on. Don't know what he did but something not right. Like to this is unusual, but it's happened before where the technician leaves and we have issues with the system. I have a service contract with this company to service our HVAC system twice a year. When I call to make an appointment it takes 2-3 months to get one. Hutchinson installed my high efficiency furnace, a/c unit and hot water heater about 10 years ago. i have had an annual service contract with them since then. They come out every 6 months for routine checks so no other company has touched the equipment since it was installed. at the last service check a few weeks ago the technician told me that the seal around the flue pipe wasn't proper and it was leaking. he showed me a picture of a red sealant around the joint that was pvc pipe. he quoted me a price of $500 to repair it that i agreed to. it took him about 20 minutes to replace a 6 inch piece of pvc pipe. over the next week the amount that i paid wasn't sitting right with me for what had to be done especially since Hutchinson had done the install and therefore they didn't do it right the first time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called them last week and explained all of the above and asked for a call back that never happened.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] from dealing with them thru the years i think their techs are incentivized to sell products or expensive repairs. they tried many times to install an ultraviolet air cleaner even though i already have a carrier air cleaner. They are Hutchinson in name only. I looked them up and they are owned by a private equity company that seems to specialize in buying family owned plumbing and hvac businesses. So buyer beware before you let them in your house. as for the hot water install the young plumber used a piece of scrap pipe for the hot water return. fortunately i went to the basement a few hours later and it was leaking because it wasn't soldered correctly. I turned off the water supply and the on call experienced plumber had to come out that evening and redo it and took back the scrap pipe to show his supervisor. other issues with Hutchinson include the time one of their technicians foot went through the attic floor and put a hole in the 2nd floor ceiling. Accidents happen and i was glad he wasn't injured. i contacted Hutchinson and they agreed to cover the cost of the repair. I got a quote and sent it to them and they approved it and i paid the contractor to do it. The problem was getting them to pay me back. They are strictly COD when they come out, but it took many many calls to get them to pay me. Either they were in a meeting or gone for the day and even thought i left messages it took at least 6 or more tries to get them to pay me when they realized i wasn't going away. then there was the issue with the pressure booster we have for our sprinkler system. it started to leak and was still under warranty. Hutchinson took it out and said they would take care of sending it back to the company for a replacement. I called a few times over the next several months and couldn't get an answer as to the status of the replacement. as a result i couldn't open my sprinkler system for the season and the plants and grass were not looking good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally i called the Slimer company myself to check on the status and Hutchinson had never sent it back to them. After that both Slimer and myself had to make multiple calls to Hutchinson to find out where it was. We needed 1 lb. 10 oz. of refrigerant added and were THEN told that there is a 2 lb. minimum charge for the refrigerant and we basically needed 3 lbs. added to receive the promotion. The coupon says NOTHING about this minimum anywhere. I will post to coupon below. This coupon was sent to hundreds, if not thousands of people who might fall into the same deception as we did. It is really a shame that regular people who need AC repairs in the summer are scammed this way. I am a former Campbell Comfort customer. Hutchinson bought out Campbell and I still have a heater warranty that I paid for which included heater and A/C tune up. I was contacted by a customer service representative on March 2nd to make an appointment for the tuneup which is prepaid. I made the appointment for 3/20/23. I just received a phone call today from another Hutchinson representative telling me that the tune up is not covered because I already met my quota for the year and it would cost me $80 for a tune up not to mention the cost of the polarized air filters which are $200. I called Hutchinson to make an appointment to have a new tub, sink and toilet installed. I was pleased to get an appointment with a technician for the next day between 12 and 4. I took a day off work and I waited until 2 and then thought I would call to see if they had any better idea when they would arrive. The said that they did have a record of the appointment being made but that they didn't serve my zip code. I lost a full day's pay. They never thought to even give a call or text or an email to let me know that they had made a mistake and they would not be able to come. I would never have known if I didn't call. I wish I could give them Zero stars for not giving a damn that I lost a day's pay and wasted hours waiting for someone who never had any intention of coming at all. I suppose I should be thankful because had I contracted them to do the work, I would bet that their selfish, slipshod attitude would have cost me many times a day's pay. It is over a week and no response from Hutchinson even after I called to follow up. Very disappointing. If they didn't want to do the work they should not have wasted my time. Thank you I never received a job number. Paul came to my house to give me an estimate. He came on Monday, and he told me I would have the estimate by Tuesday. I waited a week but still no response. I called and was assured Paul and his manager would be notified that I hadn't received the quote. I have a service contract with Hutchinson and they've been OK with those services, so I thought I'd give them a try when my 15-year old Rinnai tankless hot water heater wouldn't work. The technician blamed the problem on rust on top of the unit and cleaned out the ignition chamber, but after he left the hot water heater still wouldn't ignite. I called another company that actually had technicians trained by Rinnai, and they identified the problem as a faulty sensor-igniter unit. He cleaned it off (which made it work OK) but because of the age of the unit I decided to get a new sensor-igniter unit on a second trip. It's been working flawlessly. The biggest problem has been (1) getting them to admit that they really know nothing about Rinnai tankless water heaters, and (2) getting a followup call from their customer service dept. Even though I've given them my cell phone countless times and begged them to put it into their system, they kept calling me on my landline (which, like everyone else for the last 20 years, I never answer). I kept leaving messages with my cell, they kept calling me on my landline. This went on for 4 weeks! I hate it when companies *just*don't*listen! read more

I scheduled an estimate for a minor plumbing repair. The entire job was replacing a utility faucet and adding shutoff values to the hot and cold water lines leading to it. Their estimate was almost $800. After writing up the estimate, I was informed that I owed $110 for a dispatch fee and fuel charge which I was never informed of when I scheduled the estimate and was told this was a standard fee. Had I been made aware of this charge, I would have not even scheduled it. This company has very poor business practices. Their claim that this is a standard fee is absurd. I've had upwards of 30 contractors come through my house giving me estimates on all manner of work over the past few months. Hutchinson is the only one to charge me for an estimate. On Tuesday, March 26 at 5:45 pm I was waiting at the entrance to the exit ramp from Crescent Blvd around Gloucester City to 76/295 when someone in a Hutchinson work van nearly hit the front, passenger side of my car in an apparent attempt to wedge in. He hit my car with his side-view mirror, stopped in the middle of the ramp to re-adjust his side-view mirror (which enabled me to see this he's a white man, baldish, with a significant brown beard) then get in his van and barreled up the shoulder of the exit ramp. I called Hutchinson's service number and was assured that they take this kind of thing seriously and someone would call me back. I have not heard back from them. Terrible experience from top to bottom would give them zero stars if I could. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We called them out through our insurance company for water in our basement on December 29th. They committed to having someone come out by the 30th. On the 30th halfway through our scheduled appointment time they cancelled and rescheduled for the 31st. Again on the 31st they delayed our appointment from a morning appointment to a late afternoon appointment only to be pushed again to January 2nd based on the holiday[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The technician finally showed up on January 2nd an hour after our designated window ended to fix what wound up being a Hot Water Heater and sub-pump issue. They charged a premium for the work and did not apologize for the delays and cancellations. Several hours after the work was completed we noticed a foul smell in our basement. We chalked it up to epoxy and other materials they used for the sub pump. We left town early on the January 3rd. When we return on January 5th our entire house smelled like natural gas so much so that my husband's eyes started watering. We immediately called the gas company who found the issue to be with the hot water heater repair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we called to let Hutchinson know and have them come back out to finalize the repair, they all but refused. My husband explained the issue showed them back up and mentioned we no longer had the ability to turn our hot water heater on until they fixed it. Through a series of cancellations and sending out Techs that either did not have the right parts or expertise we still had not had a fix as of the morning of January 11th. We have two kids under 3 who we have been carting around to relative's houses to bathe, not to mention the extremely dangerous gas leak they created and they have shown no care or urgency. They continued to promise to send people out only to delay or cancel. Still with no resolution or call back on the 11th we disputed the charge on our credit card for services not completed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]About an hour after we filed the dispute we received an EMAIL (which they had never used in the past to alert us of service appointments) saying they were sending a tech to us ASAP.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At this point we were on our way to stay with family so our young children could bathe comfortably and get to bed at a reasonable hour.
