Great gym, but front desk staff needs improvement The facilities and equipment at this gym are excellent, but the front desk experience--particularly with Alex--has been consistently disappointing. Alex has been discourteous and unprofessional on multiple occasions, creating unnecessary tension with both clients and trainers. For a gym that charges premium rates for memberships and training sessions, I would expect a much higher standard of customer service. read more

Update, now that I've been going to this gym somewhere around 7 months: This place is stellar!! Great vibes and the staff are so helpful, friendly, and encouraging. Before coming here, I was never really consistent about going to a gym and when I did, I was nervous because I had no idea what I was doing beyond the very basics. Now that has all changed. Ivan is a fantastic trainer. He has helped me so, so much in my ongoing recovery from ACL surgery as well as my overall strength and fitness. For the first time ever, I really look forward to going to the gym due to my progress and results. He has played a huge part in helping me build confidence in working out and a love for the gym. I was going for a PR today and Ramiro (general manager) stopped what he was doing to cheer me on, then flagged when I was loosing form and corrected me to make sure I can train safely. HVY Industry is huge - tons of space to work out with my trainer, it's CLEAN (so important to know it's cleaned constantly and maintained to high standards), the trainers and clients are friendly, supportive of each other, and respectful of the training space. Lots of different equipment in each room, plus a separate cardio room. You can purchase a membership to train on off hours when you are not with your own personal trainer. And there is a really nice shower and towels to hit before you head to work! They sell water and healthy snacks, and Ramiro at the front desk, is the kindest, friendliest, most supportive part of the gym experience! Lots of different personal trainers here, the gym has their own personal trainers, who are certified, can discuss nutrition with you, and help you create a great program. Or if you are a trainer from outside and looking for a place to bring your clients, this is definitely a hidden secret. Show them some love and bring your clients here! I can't recommend HVY enough! A good varied selection of equipment, from the latest training and cardio machines all the way to recovery devices (to get into your muscle knots after) are available to use under the guidance of your personal trainer. There is no overcrowding or abuse of equipment due to the results-driven staff and clientele and the gym is ALWAYS clean. There are four private use bathrooms with one equipped with a shower and products for you to wash and go after an intense workout. There are also various beverages available for purchase at the front desk. I have been working out at HVY for a bit over a year, training with the goal of losing weight and getting stronger. My trainer Ryan is great and keeps me focused on my body goals and gives me confidence to use the gym on my own. I have been training at HVY Industry since late 2018 and would not train anywhere else. I train with Ryan Trujillo who has been at HVY since it first opened and trust him with my health and fitness goals. As my body has changed (for the better) over the years, my goals have changed and Ryan is always open and receptive to modifying my training program to achieve those new goals. He kind yet very motivating/understanding in the gym. Everyone is respectful of each other's space. The gym is always clean and always being cleaned - shout out to Ramiro. To be clear - this is a training gym not an influencer gym. Trainers and members are here to focus on fitness, not on followers. So if you're looking to get in shape, this is the place. I've checked out the other private gyms in LA and always come back to HVY as I enjoy the staff, facility and music. I've been a member of HVY since 2018 and love it. It's so refreshing to be able to come into a gym and not encounter influencers taking selfies on the equipment, misplaced weights, and crowded, dirty bathrooms. This gym is immaculate. Machines are repaired quickly on the rare occasion they break down. The four bathrooms are completely private with locking doors and always clean - you can shower or change quietly and peacefully in a spa-like environment. Plenty of recovery equipment to choose from as well. You do need a trainer to accompany you during your workouts, but that's what keeps this place in order and breaches of gym etiquette to a minimum. The trainers are friendly, knowledgeable, approachable, and long time employees of the gym. Definitely recommend! read more

I have been a member for LA Fitness for a while and I was looking to take my training to the next level. This gym interested me because of the personal training programs they had available. Upon my first visit Francisco was very helpful, taking the time to show me around the gym, explaining all the equipment and amenities. We sat down 1 on 1 and he explained to me the different types of training programs available and recommended me a trainer to use. I had my first training session with Hannah today. She was very enthutiastic and helpful and I learned some new types of stretches, elastic band exercise, and free weight routines. She was able to correct issues in my form and give suggestions for the future. I was happy with how easy to get along with she was and the quality of tips she had to offer. I was looking for a personal trainer and a gym where I would be comfortable. It's not as easy as you might think in LA. Most gyms are runways and most of the trainers I interviewed were intimidating. We aren't your typical members. I'm a 54 year old Mom with an 18 year old son and we both need to lose weight and work out. I was having trouble finding the right people to guide us on this journey and I needed people I felt I could trust with my son who was reluctant. My kid is getting ready to leave home and I wanted him to develop some skills for survival on his own. The last phone call I made was to Josh Brown at HVY. His warmth and enthusiasm encouraged me and we went to check out HVY. He was so knowledgeable, truly kind, and made us feel welcome. He knows how to inspire and has hired a top notch team who are dedicated to personal fitness and a gorgeous, clean facility where everyone is treated as an equal. We both agreed that we had found our place with them. Not only could they train him, they offered boxing and self defense instruction. This is what I wanted to give my son. An education. My son has been working out for a little more than 2 weeks with Noui and Jordan with Josh for oversight. In that short time, we have experienced the care they offer, the communication they offer as well as the careful instruction in the gym. My reluctant son now loves going to the gym, is getting the education necessary to lose weight and learn how to eat and find his strength. He has already lost weight and gained muscle mass and is feeling good about going! He communicates directly with his trainers. Nouri and Jordan have been great with him and I am so thankful we found this team of support. This is not your ordinary gym. It is pristine. It is kind. It is a supportive environment. When I worried about a swollen knee, they responded with honest concern. They have great equipment, great trainers and a great atmosphere. We invested in this team, in Noui, Jordan and Josh. We are sacrificing other things we don't really need in order to afford this because it's that good and I consider it an investment in my son. I contacted HVY industry after seeing the facility on my drive in to work everyday. After looking on Yelp, and checking out their website I decided to take them up on their complimentary consult and first personal training session. I trained with Jenni Mora and was immediately sold. I couldn't have asked for a better trainer. She's the perfect balance of motivation, care and tough love. I've been working out here for a little over a month, and I am incredibly happy. Jenni has helped me lose fat, and gain muscle. Jenni is incredibly attentive and listens to my needs and goals. She is always available to answer any questions about food and meal planning. She's just an overall positive force to be around. As far as the facility itself, it's incredibly clean, new and everything works. The vibe is great. Sometimes I can get intimidated by the people working out around me, but that's not the vibe at all. Staff is super nice. The only reason why I give it 4 and not 5 stars is because for me, it's pretty pricey to work out here. I'm sure some can argue that it's totally worth it, and I wish I could 100% say the same, but personally it's quite a chunk out of my paycheck. She's friendly, reliable, and she's helped me a lot on my form with exercises I *thought* I knew how to do. For years I'd get really bad lower back pain when I did ab work because my form was off, including when I worked with other trainers at different gyms. Hvy is a top notch, clean and welcoming gym. The machines are all new and there are also great recovery tools like the hypervolt and normatec which other gyms don't have. This sets them way above the bar. Noui is a great trainer. She's a caring motivator and will create a plan for you based on your needs. She also listens and changes exercises based on your abilities. Updated Review 06/13/19: 1. The first time we contacted your company is Jun 5th, Wednesday, not Friday. We got a reply from your gym that we can use the gym on Sunday. 2. We visited your gym on Thursday to see if it would look good on camera. Before I entered your gym, I filled out the form as asked. The receptionist took us for a short tour. I asked your co-founder if I could take several pictures for our photographer's reference, to which she said "sure". Note that I got permission from your business partner. 3. We paid $350 per hour, for a total of 2 hours - for a total of more than $700. We agreed upon the deal when I visited your gym on Thursday, but we weren't told how to make the payment. I followed up on Saturday by email, and that was when your co-founder sent me a link to pay - a payment I made as soon as I saw the link. 4. Your staff recommended your trainer as paid models, which we took on. There was a misunderstanding that we weren't going to pay your models, which I immediately clarified when you questioned. 5. On Saturday afternoon, you suddenly broke off our deal and refunded our payment last minute. By this time, we had already booked photographers and models, and there were less than a day to change things around. Imagine if you were in my position. Would you not even try to reach out to ask for a response? Apparently, my calmly talking over the phone is "strange phone calls" to you. 6. That's why the co-founder of the company drove to your gym and tried to talk to you in person. You saw him and you knew it was your client...which is funny that you said he was a "stranger". 7. My company is legally registered in Beverly Hills, California. We explained that the company didn't have a website or social media yet because we are in very early stages of development, which is information you were aware of prior to agreeing upon the deal with us. In all my years working with people building relationships, this is the first time I've been so rudely treated. I've been a film producer in both China and the US for over a decade, and my film were among official selections and opening film in film festivals such as Berlin Film Festival, Shanghai International Film, Raindance Film Festival and Manchester International Film Festival. I was also the exclusive publisher of OK Magazine in China for years, and the CEO of a Chinese advertising company with clients among the Top 500 international companies. I'm saying all of this just to show you that, without any explicit reasoning, or an effort to get to know me personally, you put a label of "shady" on my business and myself. There was no effort to clear up any misunderstanding, even when I called to explain and asked if I have done anything to make you break it off last minute. The worst case about this entire thing is that, as your ex-client, I feel very judged. Your comments on your phone were degrading and judgmental, and your response further proves that you don't even try to get your facts straight. Do you really "welcome all races, religions, countries of origin, sexual orientation, gender & abilities" at your place, like you say on your website? Because I certainly do not feel safe. Thank you for giving us the chance to see clearly what kind of business owner you are. Everyone -- my business wasted time and money because of his last-minute cancellation. Furthermore, if you are a new business looking to have a partnership, stay away when you don't have enough "established credentials (according to them)", unless you want to be unfairly judged and rudely treated.
