There are places you can go to get some items less expensively (which I do), but if you want something specific, don't know what you want, or want to find everything, Hy-Vee gives you options. Butcher shop? Seafood? Fresh-baked breads, donuts, cakes? Floral arrangements? Deli counter with many meats and cheeses for your perfect charcuterie? Starbucks? Pharmacy? A Basin bath and beauty store? You can find it here. The liquor department has a very large selection along with a growler filling station and a walk-in cooler, or you can grab a drink at the bar at the Market Grille. They often (in non-pandemic times) have tastings as well. For dinner, they have a large assortment of take-and-bake meals, which come in handy now-a-days. If you prefer to get it hot, choose between pizza, Chinese, sushi, the Market Grille (burgers & sandwiches, breakfasts), or the Hickory House for some fried chicken and other comfort foods. Always disappointed when we come here. I want so badly, to like this location, it's conveniently located but if it's not one thing it's another. We've had the wrong order (multiple times) for catering, never have prescriptions ready (always delayed) and their fast food is rarely fast and don't ask to pay for a special order--it's not allowed, but wait is it, because last time they let us. Consistently inconsistent. As I stand here writing this, there's a guy sweeping...but trash on the floor and open 1/2 emptied boxes left in the middle of walkways...do better HyVee! read more

There was a kid named Matthew P he always seemed happy and on point. He didn't break a sweat with all the groceries that i had, it looked like i needed 2 carts but he had placed everything to where it can fit. Just OMG...... the beer selection. Best I've seen in the area since moving to Iowa City a year or so ago. If you like 2x and 3x IPAs, well, here you go. Today I purchased a few items went to cashier Deborah N. Still spent over $60. I noticed that this cashier charged me twice for one bag of potatoes and three times for 2 cases of squirt. Almost back to back. When I told her she overcharged me she had a smile on her face? REALLY? Maybe she thought it was funny but I certainly didn't. She was going to charge me 14$ over what I bought. Not very professional to laugh when you make the same mistake twice. I was very unhappy and frustrated. I immediately called the store customer service. I mentioned her name and the rep knew exactly who I was talking about and she tells me this person does not speak English very well. It took just under a decade for NL to get a Hy-Vee but damn. It was worth the wait. I don't live nearby but the location seems super convenient just off 965 and not far from the Forevergreen exit. This isn't my go-to spot but during the pandemic I've stopped in a couple of times. It definitely has a noticeable open design -- less aisles and clutter. It is very easy to navigate. The staff has all been masked each of my visits and distancing is encouraged. There is sanitizer available, too. While I haven't used it yet, this location boasts a growler station, where you can fill your own growler of local beers on tap. Huzzah craft beer! Last, this Hy-Vee is like no other I've seen. The beauty department is HUGE and filled with soaps, bath bombs and other goodies. I could see myself, post pandemic, spending wayyyy too much time perusing this area... I don't tip for this and my food was oversalted when I got it home. The HyVee is accepting cans and bottles at this immaculate and well monitored redemption center across the street from the grocery store. Only two people are allowed in at any one time for safe distancing. The floors are clean and the center is odorless. I appreciate enormously the HyVee embracing the state law and taking returns. To all those reviewers that claimed that it was difficult to find everything and that the store was not very well organized.....order your shit online and then just pick it up!!! I tried this and it changed the way I get my "regular" groceries forever!! It was even easier than I thought it could be. No more wandering through the isles trying to figure out where a certain item is. Just go online, search for the item you're looking for and place it in your "cart". This is HANDS DOWN my favorite Hy-Vee location! Every employee I've interacted with has been kind and willing to help in every way (shout out to Sara in the sushi section! She made a roll for me that I really wanted that wasn't already made. You're the real MVP!!)! I'm a crazy fruit eater so the grocery store I buy my fruit from has to be open in the wee hours of the night because I don't get off work till midnight, and has to have a sweet variety of fruit. Sweet as in not sour, and sweet as in lots of options. They hit both mark! I've discovered golden kiwis and golden honeydew because of sampling and I will never go back to their non gold counterparts. However there is just one downside. They used to always have regular 'ol cinnamon rolls with the cream cheese frosting all the time tucked away in the bakery. They seem to rarely have it anymore and it breaks my heart! Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting are my favorite goodie they make in the bakery! They still get five stars though because when they do have them they're the bomb. I also recently had an experience where a product I purchased was six months expired, and they righted their wrong faster than I ever expected! I got a phone call the day I voiced my complaint and the manager quickly addressed the incident and apologetically gave me a refund. When in doubt, go to Hy-Vee. This one. Go to this one. read more

I can't believe this location has this many bad reviews. My experience is much much different. I entered this location for the first time when I was working a shift personal shopping. Now I'm not really from an area that has hy-vees so I was a bit in the weeds. I bugged that staff for 30 minutes asking millions of questions about where things were. I never once received any horrible attitude or any attitude at all. They were very helpful and polite and took me to the area. I mean I don't go to places very often that they walk me to the area. I made sure I let their manager know but pretty much their whole staff was killing it that day. I can't think of a better store for a personal shopper to go into. I may drive the extra miles to come to this Hy-Vee versus the one I go to now. read more

I enjoy going to this new HyVee! They have a great selection of food and their Wine and Spirits has a fantastic selection of beer. Also their Market Grille is very nice as well, with a large selection of great new craft beers on tap. First, I will state the obvious. It is really convenient to have somewhere in North Liberty to go on Sundays to get groceries. That, and it is nice to have a place that offers a wider range of items in town. These two points alone already sooth my grocery-shopping appetite a bit. The store has grown professionally a lot since it first opened, providing a more logical approach to their produce setup and expanding their deli horizons to meet the tastes of the community. Their staff are also fully trained and functioning at full steam, which is a relief to see since it was quite agonizing to check out during the first few weeks. The aisles are still a little narrow for my liking, but I appreciate the long, perpendicular aisle that cuts across them all. It breaks up the space and allows a "passing zone" for the tight aisles. I tend to only shop here when I have a larger shop to handle and more time, but the personal checkout aisles have been helpful a time or two to get me in and out a little faster. I also can't end the review without noting that they have incredibly adorable green "customer in training" carts for kids that make me smile every time I see them. Still bad, the manager is awful here and sucks at basic communication skills. Thinks he's cooler than he is and he sounds like a Disney cartoon rat when he speaks. He will favor his friends if they come in and then go hide in the back if he senses anyone else having a problem. I needed to talk to him and the bartender had told me he went home early for the day. Bought a few cod fillets hoping for a good fish'n'chips dinner. Opening the fish wrap I instantly recognized that the fish was overly ripe. It stunk. I cut the fish into serving sizes, and soaked it in milk for 1 hour hoping to get rid of the nastiness. It didn't work. Battering and frying the fish after soaking in milk did nothing. I remember those Hy-Vee commercials where the kitchen was closed and yet your staff went out of their way to make a meal for someone. Well today, I visited the Coralville Crosspark Hy-Vee about 10 minutes before the Mia Pizza opened. They guy was just standing there and yet he refused to make a pizza. 10 minutes before it opened? I decided that I wasn't going to wait 10 minutes because it was ridiculous, unwarranted and unethical. I even spoke to a manager and she didn't do anything. No helpful smiles here today! I stop in every Wednesday and every Friday to get an individual pizza. NO MORE! I guess Hy-Vee doesn't need my business. Luckily there is a Fareway and plenty of pizza places nearby. read more

In spite of this I was wrongly charged for delivery. And when I was called I was strung along by the AO Manager. When I called after another hour of waiting, I was offered $10 on my next purchase!! This was the exact amount I had already over-paid on delivery. Tell me why should I order next time from Hyvee instead of Wal-Mart or Target that do FREE delivery!! Shame on Hyvee!!! Huge store. There are definitely pros and cons to this. Pros: They have a larger selection of items and different brands to choose from. They are certainly able to have what you need and then some. Their store layout reminds me of a marketplace, where food is set out and the ceilings are high, and its spacey. Cons: Unfortunately, you have to walk miles to get what you need and fight the crowds down the fairly narrow aisles. Not a good in-out store if you want a quick trip. This Hy-Vee has an amazing selection of beer. They even have a Gowler station where you can bring your own bottle and have them fill it with there ever rotating list of beers on tap. They also have these cute little 32oz cans that they call "Crowlers." The canning machine is worth a look over. May I also add the exquisite selection of single bottle craft beers. Most of the time I'm not willing to buy a $20 six-pack of something I don't like, the singles allow me to try a potential favorite for cheap (also rotating). They also have plenty of deals on wine including $.25 fuel saver on $15 dollar bottles. Every weekend I've always seen a winery or brewery sample some of the stuff they sell, they are always smiling and happy to educate you on thier products. The store also does keg orders, getting them within 2-3 days, cheap way to have bear at a party or tailing-gaiting. read more
