Getting better with its digital shopping software but still cumbersome to use...still not user-friendly. Need to better highlight weekly sale items only...not the whole store. Still learning the layout of the store...it's a really big place...finding items and shopping here remains too time consuming. Also, product selections are oftentimes limited. For example, try finding Tombstone Original Frozen Veggie Pizza...it's listed on the web site under varieties but never in stock at the store, particularly when it is a featured sale item. My wife and I have shopped at both this store and the one in New Hope. We are both very impressed. The stores are very well stocked, reasonably priced, and have a very large selection. If anyone is familiar with a grocery store chain called HEB in Texas they are similiar, but are actually better because they do not seem to be pushing their generic brand for everything. The isles are large and we loved the small refrigeration units in the isles (example: the refrigerated salad dressings are actually in the isle with all the other bottled dressings!). The store employees all seem friendly and helpful as well. The only reason we don't give it 5 stars, is Lund's/Birerly's and Kowalskis are still a step up even though they are far more expensive. Overall, once the store is built closer to our home we will probably do most of our shopping there. read more

For an OK, quick meal, Hy-Vee Oakdale is a good place to go. The waitress was a bit unsure of salad dressing choices and how the Philadelphia roll was prepared. The sushi roll was just OK - not real fresh. The crab dip was lukewarm with bagged pita chips. I can still taste it a couple hours later... The nice thing was that there was plenty of seating available, the service was quick, and the waitress was attentive. read more

This place is pretty cool.Its huge and seems to have almost anything you can think of. Also the salad bar, and Asian food stands are really good. Most of their meats have been really good.The prices are so so. When they do have a great price, it only seems to be on sale for 1 or 2 days. read more

I am so extraordinarily annoyed with this store. Every single time, and I mean EVERY TIME, I have come here I have had issues with being overcharged for something in one way or another. 1. Chicken was buy one get one. I ended up paying full price for both. 2. I had gotten the coffee from the pour your own bean section and was rung up for tea which is a $3-$4 difference per lb. 3. I bought a pan that didn't have a barcode. It was supposed to be $6 something w/ 25% off but the manager went back and said it was $9 which was not the case. I even went home and looked up the same exact pan and it was $6 as I had seen. She clearly looked at the wrong pan. I ended up paying more than the original non sale price for the pan. 4. I bought 4 coconut water single cans for $1.79 each and was charged for 5 cans. What is the issue here? I can't even believe it. I have never had this many issues at a grocery store in my life. I wanted to like this place but I'm sick of being ripped off. It's driving me nuts. I'm the type of person that let's things like that slide but I'm done. I had ordered designer cake at Rochester MN store#1556 as instructed by the bakery staff in the store and sent the cake image. Two days later someone contacted me for the image as they didn't get it and I send them again. on the day of delivery bakery staff contacted me that they can't make the cake that I have ordered and I was left with no options because of shortage of time. Hy- Vee Oakdale is close to my home. My husband and I plan our menu for the week every Sunday. Imagine my surprise and irritation when I stopped in on Tuesday about 3pm to have someone cut me 2 porterhouse cut porkchops 2" thick for grilling only to be informed that there was no one there of AGE to cut them and they where out of that type of loin, but they would have to a shipment coming that evening. So I stopped back again on Wednesday, again about 3pm. Only to be informed they had no one of AGE to fullfill my request. What the heck is that!!!! If I wanted Cub food service I would have gone to Cub. Their meat cutters knock off at 2pm. So needless to say I had to rethink our menu for the week, being I but had no chops to marinate for the grill. Not a happy smile on my face at Hy-Vee today. read more

Market Grill Steaks are terrible. No flavor and tough like leather. Could have been a bad cut they received. Server not very helpful. She asked if she could get the manager and we said no. I expected her to tell the manager but we seemed like a bother to her that afternoon. Will never order steak there again. Everything else we have had has been good. read more

Great store for bakery, deli or lunch. Brands are mostly ones you've heard of but many are not. If this were closer, I'd shop here for everything grocery. Has a nice upscale feel to it and the employees are friendly. read more

My complaint is about a section near the pharmacy called Senior Living. Now I am 67 years old and when I walked by this section I had to stop and look again. The only thing on these shelves is adult diapers!!! I was very much insulted by the insensitivity of a major store to feature a section, call it Senior Living and then only stock adult diapers on those shelves! Put up a sign that says "Incontinence" but don't be so narrow minded and condescending to call it Senior Living! I asked for a manager (twice) and asked them about this and told them that it was insulting to me being a senior that diapers were the only things on the shelves! However when I stopped in there a few days ago, just to pick up one thing (I don't shop for my weekly groceries there anymore specifically because of this insult) the same display was still there. I am so angry with Hy-Vee in Oakdale. I am currently without a vehicle and depend on my daughter for grocery shopping etc. When I saw that you could grocery shop online and simply pick up your groceries I thought it was a great idea. When I placed my first order I didnt choose the option of allowing substitutions as I am on a low sodium diet. At least five items were missing from my order and, while the cost was deducted from my total, it was annoying and required a trip to Cub foods. For my second order I decided to take a chance on allowing substitutions. Well, first of all, at least ten items were missing with no substitutions and then some genius decided that Always light mini pads were a good substitution for heavy duty bladder leakage pads. I'm done. I like that the website has selections that can include low sodium items, and that you can view the nutrition labels on most items, but it simply isnt worth the hassle. It would be great if they would indicate that some items are not available at that location or an email indicating that some items are out of stock. But, in the end, missing items and assinine substitutions make this more hassle than its worth. read more

Just spent $5 on a Chocolate Mousse tart from the bakery ICK No flavor the whipped cream was tasteless and hard and the mousse was so far from fluffy it could have been a brick. Whoever Jessica is she needs to go back to pastry school. Prices are higher than other stores in the area and the quality for the items I typically buy isn't any different. I had not eaten in the Restaurant for many months due to being out of town for the Summer. Had been going there very often up to that time. Now that Summer is over plan to eat their again once a week like in the past. NOT NOW! I came in this last Sunday and saw the menu offerings I was totally surprised and disappointed how it changed. I asked the waitress and she said yes they removed a lot off of the good items off of the menu. I am so disappointed at the new menu selection that I will not be returning to eat at the restaurant. The menu really focused on unappetizing meals and removed that ability to get the Asian food from the store sent to your table. The Asian bowls are horrible, mostly just noodles. Comes in a huge bowl, had about 6 Shrimp, 4 slices of broccoli and ton of noodles. The waitress was extremely slow, compared to the waitress serving the table across from me. I should of spoken to the waitress, but I did see she was trying hard. My guest and I just had lousy food and service. I will be suggesting to all of my friends and family not to waste their time or money. read more

Hyvee is hands down the best grocery experience I have ever had. I am a frequent shopper at this location. Every employee I have ever had an interaction with is nice and informative. Quite the Buffet! Had it not been for the $10 coupon, we wouldn't have come for Brunch as we normally don't eat a lot at one time. When we arrived, we were told it was a 35 to 45 minute wait and several people were not happy about that and left; we thought, heck, we'll get an unlimited Bloody (or Mimosa) for $9 and check things out. Our server, Theresa was TERRIFIC!! We'll def ask for her when we return to order from the luscious looking menu! The buffet breakfast items like scrambled eggs, cheesy hash browns, biscuits and gravy (with the exception of the bacon, yum!) were basically what we get at a hotel that complimentary hot breakfast. However, the made to order omelette and eggs bennie station was great! We asked for toast and they brought it fresh to our table! Also included was like everything from the Asian, Italian, meatloaf, chix, several potato selections, salads, (the prime rib was way to done) shrimp cocktail, and every darn thing you can think of was included. Began using HyVee Isles on Line a year (or more) ago due to difficulty in walking. Service was great in the beginning. However, over the past nine months delivery service has become increasingly terrible. Typically I will place an order . When delivery arrives I have to brace myself for what did not arrive due to "out of stock". (Other delivery services will indicate on line - ahead of time - which products are not available for delivery.) Not HyVee. Next are the groceries that do not arrive because they were forgotten or lost. Since I have been charged for those I call the store. They use to send out those products but they don't do that anymore. Now they talk about a "credit" applied to the next order. Guess what....the credit never shows up on the next orders - or any order after that. Therefore, I have paid for something I never got. They always have excuses "with a smile". However, it is beginnnig to feel like a scam. Another issue was a Gift Card I received because they missed another item for delivery. I used the gift card. Then I found out the money still came out of my account but I would be reimbursed later. Guess what?? After 3 calls and waiting 2 weeks I never got reimbursement and gave up. Ordering on line means that you will need to be prepared to then go shopping yourself for the items you don't get. Makes no sense. I am now ending my relationship with them for good. Managers are taught to "professional apologize" but nothing ever changes. They are finding ways to keep your money and not deliver products. read more
