I was at your store on the 12th of May and usually purchase your chicken salad. I noticed that you show on the label "new". After tasting it I wondered what in the world did you do to it? It's flavor is terrible and I won't be purchasing it again. After paying $5.00 for a small container I tried to "doctor" it up to avoid throwing it in the garbage. Go back to what you sold before. This for their Market Grille! We've eaten there so many times I've lost count. They always have some kind of special going on everyday. We've been there for half-price appetizers (Monday), half-price Sushi (Wednesday), buy one/get one free Burgers (Saturday), lunch time/half-off everything!, etc. Most recently, we got $62 worth of food for only $30 (2 free burgers plus $10 off coupon). This review is for the Market Grille (Cafe) not the grocery store. I have visited the Market Grille 2 times in the past week and each time ordered from the Chinese counter. I will first say that I had previously eaten at the store many times when it had casual dining where you walked around to get the food you wanted , paid for it at the counter and found a seat to enjoy your selections. I found this style to be much better than the more formal way they are doing business now. In fact, I would have rated the old style of service and food a 4 out of 5 both in food and service. This new format is very disappointing to me primarily because of the wait times at each interval, First I went to the Chinese food counter to get my food because I much prefer to see the selections before ordering and I am going during my lunch break with limited time. Anyway I selected my meal and it was boxed up in good time. However, I could not pay for my selection there as I could in the past and there was no option for informal seating where I could eat my lunch. So I went to the Market Grille seating area where I had to wait for someone to seat me which took about 5-10 minutes which seemed longer since I was holding my food as I waited. Then I was seated and my drink was brought to me and I had to ask for silverware. After that was brought I was finally able to eat my meal. The food was good, I had Hunan chicken, fried rice and an egg roll and I would give it a 4 out of 5. I then need to get back to work but my waiter was no where to be found so I walked up to the counter to pay, they had to find my waiter to get my bill so I could pay and had another wait at the payment time. I finally paid and was on my way feeling frustrated with what use to be a very pleasant dining experience where I served myself, had a good lunch and was on my way in less than half an hour. This time it took 45-50 minutes. I decided to give it another try a few days later but this time take my food and eat it in the car. So I went to the Chinese counter selected my food and was told I could pay at the Grille counter, I went to the Grille counter and had to wait while they seated someone else and was then told I had to pay at the checkout line. I then went to the checkout line and had to wait again as people paid for their groceries and the person in front of me wrote a check (very slowly I might add). As I am waiting, I see a manager so I mentioned to him my frustration with the new system and he tells me I could have paid at the Grille counter. I am then next in line so I pay for my food and tell the manager that they need to tell the people at the Grille counter that because they told to go to the checkout line. Anyway, I do not plan to return here to eat anymore. it will be much quicker to just go to a Chinese restaurant from now on. I was a bit taken back by the attitude of the manager who did not seem at all to be interested in my experience or feedback. read more

I like this store. It has a big organic food section and a really, really good salad bar. That said, their dairy is not as competitively priced as Kroger's. They do have pretty good in house sushi and big vegetable and meat departments. Just be sure to check ads before you go on. I once thought they had a great price on steak until I realized it was a price for one 8 oz. steak, not per pound. When it comes to bakery, their cupcakes are very dry and pretty awful (even the new mini cupcakes), but their donuts are very good. I used to shop here, but I don't anymore. The prices and selection are good, but there always seems to be one product that they don't have in their system, so they have to call somebody to the front, and have them run back and check the price, all while holding up my checkout and the people in line behind me. After the third time I decided that was enough. I even emailed the store manager but he never got back to me. read more

Probably the BEST GROCERY STORE in PEORIA. The store has so much service. Great Meat Department: Meat area is clean with many varieties of cuts to choose from and there are butchers available to cut up or slice your roasts, chickens, etc. There's a bulk organic section, a Gluten Free aisle and dedicated NUT-FREE brands, what Hy-Vee calls their " HealthMarket". This store don't like lines! If they see more than one or two people at their check-out line, they will immediately call for another cashier. Every time I shop here, there's a friendly staff with a smile always asking if I need help finding an item. They have Stone Bakery french bread, that's made in a facility that processes nuts, so I have to go to Kroger and buy the french bread for our child. This is the only item that inconveniences me. But as you can see, because of the excellent service and quality items this store carries, I am able to overlook this, and still rate it with 5 stars! read more

To whom it may concern: I went to the market grille for the first time this evening 5/29/2015 @ 7:25pm. I had ordered 1coke and 1 water, I had asked about the soup of the day and the server could not even tell me what they were she had no idea, I had to request her to find out and she did not come back for 20 minutes then told me, I am so disappointed! This is not good customer service! I also ordered the baked cavatappi which I paid $14.00 for and was the worst meal, the server also asked what side I would like to have so I requested the gourmet Mac and cheese which was VERY watery. I also was supposed to receive the garlic roll with the meal and that was forgotten I waited and waited for the server to check in and she did not come over, so I walked up to a server to ask for one and I heard our server in the background say "oh that's what I forgot" when I went to taste the bread it tasted like it wasn't even baked! Other Issues with this meal is the portion I had received was very small and way over priced the server never advised us the side was an extra cost of $2.50, I did not even finish this meal because it was so terrible!! My spouse also ordered the pasta Alfredo with chicken which costed $13.00 and he requested the asparagus, the chicken was so dry, the asparagus was grilled way to long practically black! They also charged him $2.50 for the asparagus as well. The both of us wait quite some time for our drinks to be refilled. Our total bill was $36.96. It seems to be that the workers in this restaurant location were not trained properly, seemed like they may not have known what to do, when I went back to the restaurant to get the information to send this experience in the manager asked me what it would be about which is fine but I advised him I am still going to send this up, he didn't even have the courtesy to apologize! I will not be eat at the restaurant in the future, however I would still come for the buffet, I do enjoy that. I would definitely still shop in the grocery area because we are loyal customers and like the cleanliness and the set up! It's very easy to locate everything compared to other stores! Absolutely THE BEST grocery store in the WHOLE Peoria, Illinois area! My wife and I shop here EVERY weekend. The employees are the friendliest in the whole area and they sincerely APPRECIATE your business! The meat dept. is OUTSTANDING! Some items are priced a little higher than some other stores, but, when you factor in the quality and great prices in other areas and departments, overall, this store is a great value! I wish all stores (not just grocery stores, but, ALL stores), would have as friendly and SINCERE employees as the Peoria, IL HYVEE store has! The only area that I see could use a little improvement is the front-end. Cashiers and baggers could smile and talk a little more! They are young so, they will learn! More businesses need to learn that if their employees would be friendlier and sincere, they would generate MORE SALES! Peoria Hyvee is on the right track! There wasn't a separate section for the Market Grille so I'll assume it falls under the management and whoever really cares. I've eaten in here about 10 times. They have free pen and paper trivia on Wednesday nights at 7. Around that time they either have an all you can eat boneless or boneful chicken wings or nacho taco bar. I like those. Outside of this is s grand buffet as well. It's all behind glass so you can't grab the items yourself but the people behind it will. Just tell them you ordered the buffet. I've done this twice thus far. If you've read my other reviews you know I don't fill my belly with salad or carrots when I intend to defile myself. So I'm not rating that section. However the giant meat ball the 6 bone slab or ribs the brisket the pulled pork are outstanding. Then you can get Chinese food. Crab Rangoon egg rolls chicken egg rolls are all great. Also there's pizza. I enjoyed the cheeseburger pizza. On one particular occasion during trivia night I won a free pizza coupon. I got that the next week. The menu pizza isn't buffet pizza. It was excellent. Top 5 in the area for me. It's served on a pan which is set on like an 8 inch table like thing I guess. It's hard to explain. I don't know if that's for the pizza or to make you feel like a king maybe. The staff are nice people. If you ever have time at least go here and compare the pizza to some of your area favorites and put your thoughts here. read more
