    Inside our room's bathroom.

My wife and I were in town this past weekend for a funeral of a beloved Mother figure in our lives. We stayed at the Hyatt Place in Harbison, and what a major mistake it was! The place was AWFUL with all capital letters! For starters, we never got a room cleaning though the Hotel policy in writing on a ledger that clearly stated the room would be cleaned daily. Second, even when we called the front desk and requested that our room be cleaned, IT WAS NOT CLEANED! Additionally, the Hotel is not old I'm told by local friends, yet it is badly in need of repairs as the photos below clearly shows. We decided to leave the Hotel early and stay with a friend because we did not appreciate being disrespected and ignored after we had attempted to get our room cleaned. For the record, I have stayed in other Hyatt Place hotels in other cities and have enjoyed them, BUT this hotel was AWFUL in every way! I will be making every effort to take this to the Corporate Office of Hyatt Place. We were in Room #402.

    Bugs

Worst hotel ever. Water damage, bugs, bug bites when I woke up on my shoulder in picture, mold..no refund. Brandon the manager was nasty when asked & called for days n hung up on me. I'll never stay at another Hyatt like I have in past & thought they were nice. Came in late after being with my mom at hospital & had to leave early next morning to be back with her & this was closest hotel. Horrible experience. Was offered Hyatt hotel points only. No Thanks! I'd give it NO stars if I could!

Coffee pot that the coffee tray did not fit.

The property is a challenge. Toilet leaked in first room. after three trips down to front desk I was finally moved to a second room same floor. Broken window. I ended up making a trip to walmart for lysol and Febreze, dollar tree for flip flops because i did not want to walk on the floor in socks. Breakfast was poor. Eggs, bacon, and pancakes tasted like cardboard. I could not eat them. I had oatmeal which was good. In room coffee pot and coffee pods a no go. I will say, the staff were very pleasant.

    Bed bugs!

This hotel has bed bugs! When I tried to speak with someone about this, I was told to wait bc the manager was on a personal phone call... When she finally made time to speak to me, she was extremely rude. She said they spray regularly and they couldn't possibly be bed bugs. She refused to listen to me and kept arguing with me about what they look like- even though I showed her side-by-side photos. I even caught several and gave them to the woman at the front desk! She refused to do anything for the inconvenience and told me she was "sorry if we truly had a problem with our stay." Two nurses (who coincidentally specialize in entomology) followed us out of the hotel and asked to see the photos of the bugs and the bites I receivedwhile staying in the room. Both confirmed they were in fact bed bugs. I cannot believe something like this happened, much less at a Hyatt.

A roach I had to kill in the room

The hotel and staff were horrible, and they are in need of a maintenance overhaul. I had to leave and go to a new hotel because they kept shutting off the water for hours at a time due to bad piping

    Water damage around the window

This place is in bad shape. The window of my room was open on the first floor with a lot of water damage around the window. A bar of soap and shampoo bottles were left in the shower. I only had a third of a roll of toilet paper and the other roll was not there. No blow drier. Both ice machines on the 3rd and 5th floors were not working. The only positive was the French toast pieces at breakfast. Really disappointed in Hyatt.

Very polite and professional staff! I had a king suite. Clean hotel and room. Nicely appointed and up to date. Free breakfast included with typical free breakfast fare. There are also snacks and sandwiches/salads for purchase throughout the day and room service too. I used the workout room which was small, clean, and equipped with 2 treadmills w/ personal tv, 1 step machine, 1 bike, earbuds, water, and towels. Our room was spacious with a large sectional couch, desk, bar area and fridge. The bathroom was tiny but new/clean and good water pressure. One problem I had was that the fridge was not working, but I called the front desk and they sent maintenance up to fix or replace it. The other problem we had was the ac turned off in the middle if the night and I woke up in an 80 degree room! I reset the thermostat and it cooled back down. Great location, close to tons of restaurants and shops. Great value for your money.

Bathroom door provides accurate representation of hotel overview

95% of the parking lot was blocked off w/ yellow tape for a hospital sleep study being conducted on the entire 2nd floor. I rode around the parking lot also noticing another guest doing same as we simultaneously shrugged our shoulders, gesturing w/ our arms raised, what is going on here. No access to the entire front of the hotel parking lot. I did not feel safe. we were told by customer svc the parking lot was to be repaved. The wrinkled bed sheets & pillow cases were unkept and clearly unchanged for some time. wrinkled towels appeared to be previously used, not crisp or fresh. bathroom door had obviously been pried/forced open. wood on bathroom door cracked and splintered significantly damaged. furniture was nasty, unclean. Shame on hotels.com for offering reservations, particularly nonrefundable.

I booked the venue for 10/25, but on 10/23, things went left. Up until then, communication and everything else had been fine. However, the owner gave one of my vendors incorrect information regarding communication, which wasn't true and felt unprofessional. That's when my experience started to shift. Another thing that bothered me was being asked to pay a damage waiver, then later finding out from my decorator that the owner had been onsite during setup. When I arrived around 7:30 PM for my Halloween photoshoot, the owner was sitting outside in her car. While I was inside taking pictures, she remained nearby. Once I realized she was still there, I decided not to continue my shoot and texted my decorator to come gather her things. Once my decorator came to collect her items, the owner joined us inside and stayed there until we finished, which added to the uneasy feeling I already had. Even though the event itself was canceled and I only used the venue for a photoshoot, I still paid for full-day access and expected to feel comfortable during my rental time. The venue is beautiful, but the owner's approach and lack of professionalism really took away from what could have been a much better experience. Update to Owner's Response: First, let's talk about communication. You were being lazy -- plain and simple. You know we've been communicating through email and Facebook Messenger, and your own response to my message (which I'll gladly post) proves my point. Second, I changed my personal phone number, which I'm under no obligation to share with you, especially since we were already in contact through multiple other ways. Instead of reaching out by email or Messenger like you've always done, you chose not to contact me at all -- and then lied by saying you couldn't reach me. What's worse is you contacted my decorator first, before even attempting to message me directly, and I have receipts of you admitting it. Third, let's address the deposit situation. I was asked to pay a damage waiver while you were onsite the entire time, monitoring everything during setup and throughout the evening. That didn't sit right with me, because if you're physically present the whole time, what exactly is the waiver protecting you from? Also, when we book an event, we're paying for private use of that space during the hours listed on the contract -- not for the owner to hover or interfere. You're supposed to be on contact for emergencies, not stationed inside the venue watching over everyone like a chaperone. Lastly, I don't care if you and my decorator worked well together or if other clients like you being onsite -- I didn't ask for you to be there. My review reflects my experience, not anyone else's.

Everything was set up as I asked for it to be. Throughout the process I felt that special attention was being given to my requests and timeframes. The owner even threw in some extras that I had not thought to ask for. I was grateful for her consideration, because that was above the tenets of our contract. Many of my guests remarked on the space and inquired about booking it for their events. I was so pleased, that I have already booked the space for another event this year. I am always excited/grateful when supporting small business owners goes well. I can say, without a doubt, that Luxe will be my go to venue in the future.
