They have the nicest staff here (for the most part) and you couldn't find a more prime location for a hotel. Its located in a large outdoor shopping mall with a few dozen restaurants, a great movie theater, live music and other activities on the plaza on weekends! Worst experience of my life. I BOOKED THIS MONTHS IN ADVANCE. Drive 7 hours to get there and find out they "overbooked". I had my wife and two children in the car. They said sorry. They didn't try and find me another place to stay, they did nothing but stare at me. I ended up driving to 4 other hotels, 7 hours from home mind you, to also be turned away due to being fully booked. I ended up at a hotel 15 minutes from there which reeked of marijuana, and had two biker gangs staying there. The bikers were incredibly friendly but they can't help how loud their bikes are when they pull into and out of the hotel...... now I wake up the next morning with only 4 hours of broken sleep to drive another 4 hours to get to my "vacation". My entire family is exhausted. I wouldn't recommend Hyatt Jackson Place if the next hotel was 100 miles away. Absolutely disgusted with the treatment we received and the carelessness from the staff. I was NEVER sent an email or informed they had made a mistake. I have also never received a follow up email and it's been over a week. read more

Do not stay at this property. Due to a computer error, I was never properly checked in. When I returned after a full day of working in the field, I discovered that hotel staff had entered my room, gone through and removed my belongings, and locked me out. I was then charged for a night I did not stay at the hotel. Because the hotel had no other rooms available, I was forced to find another hotel at additional expense and inconvenience. What is even more troubling is how Hyatt and the hotel have handled the situation since then. Hyatt Corporate specifically instructed me not to return to the property and assured me that they would handle the matter directly. I was initially told that someone would contact me within 24-48 hours. It has now been approximately a month and a half, and the issue is still not resolved. No one has called me. According to Hyatt Corporate, the franchise owner has been made aware of the situation, yet there has still been no meaningful response or resolution. My company is also still being charged for a night that I did not stay at the property. Kareem, the manager who checked me in the previous day and spoke with me the morning of the incident, never contacted me to apologize or attempt to correct the situation. The lack of accountability, communication, leadership, and customer care from both the Ridgeland Hyatt Place and Hyatt Corporate has been appalling. I have repeatedly attempted to resolve this privately, but after a month and a half, nothing has been corrected. If Hyatt or the franchise owner has any questions or doubts about what occurred, I am available and willing to speak with them directly. They have my contact information and should call me immediately. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Hyatt Place Ridgeland. Stay at another property. read more

I was just there and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel room was beyond gross. There was dark stains on the walls, the shower was all mildew, the toilet ran, and the bed sheets were stained. The worst part, for lack of a better word had none other than jizz on the couch. I will attach photos. We went to the front desk to tell them the toilet was running cause we didn't want there to be a leak. She said just jiggle the handle which we did and it did nothing. We chose this location for the indoor pool (small kids). The pool was in disrepair; it was not heated at all and likely in the 60s. There was so much chlorine that you could not see the bottom of the pool and my husband stepped on a pool tile that had fallen off the wall. read more

Motel style A/C unit at the bottom of the window was loud and kept me up all night. Wall lamp was missing cover for wiring tract. Caulking in bathroom looked like a practice run for newbie maintenance staff. Thread count on sheets had to be 400. Corporate should close this place down for reno or sell it. I wish I could give zero stars as this was the worst hotel experience, ever! My partner and I arrived to the location after 2 am from a 6 hour road trip. We checked into our room and it was GROSS! The white duvet on the bed had brown makeup stains, the towels were used/dirty, the floor was sticky and felt like it had not been mopped in years, and the bathroom sink was clogged. We returned to the front desk and the agent (who was taking a nap when we arrived btw) allowed us to move to another room. We got to that room and there was pubic hair on the toilet seat and a brown ring around the inside of the toilet bowl! Additionally, the large towels were dirty and had pubic hairs on them. We advised that we wanted to cancel our reservation and requested a refund and were told a manager would have to make a determination. We were asked to send pictures of the rooms so I shared the 2 pictures I took of the bathroom. I didn't take any others because I didn't think it was necessary when the front desk agent could have come and checked for herself. I guess she was too busy napping to be bothered. We checked out and moved to another hotel and awaited an answer from my management. To my dismay, I received an email today from the booking site we used advising that the refund request was denied! I am completely appalled that they want us to pay for a room we vacated and that was not properly cleaned. I contacted the property and was transferred to a generic voicemail after asking to speak with the manager. I will be contacting their corporate office, as well as the Better Business Bureau to share my experience as this is completely unacceptable. DO NOT BOOK AT THIS LOCATION!! As an existing Hilton HHonors Lifetime Diamond Member, I have been recently given an offer from American Airlines to become World of Hyatt Explorist for 90 days. If I days at Hyatt properties 10 nights, I will secure Explorist through 2025. If I stay 20 nights through January 2025 I will be Globalist through 2025. As such, I have been staying at Hyatt properties now for the last month. This being said, this property clearly does not live up to Hyatt standards, but there is hope. The highlight of this property are the entire staff from the GM to the maintenance staff. Everyone was very attentive and went out of their way to make sure all of my concerns and issues are/will be addressed. Oh my, this place is RUN DOWN (see my photos for just a few examples). The toilet paper holder in our bathroom was broken and it was clear the staff knew about it because the toilet paper rolls were simply placed on top of the toilet tank. The closet door was off the rails and the bedding didn't quite fit the beds and was coming off before we even got into the bed the first night. I stayed one night in early October. Checked out, got an invoice and was charged correctly. Less than a week later, I saw two "pending" charges on my credit card for $2760 & $760. I called them, and was told I was still there, not checking out for another 10 days. I asked for a mgr, not available, in a meeting. No call back. Every day since then there were 2-4 pending charges. About a month later, I called the corporate customer service, they opened a ticket, still pending charge, daily, 8 week after I left. Then on 12/17, they charged my CC $20,395.66!!! I again called corp. they tried to get the mgr there, still not available. Told the corp SCR mgr he had to follow up. Then I called my cc company, they took the lead and reversed the charges. The corp mgr tried to give me points for a free stay but I will never stay at a Hyatt again as I would have to give them a cc, even for a free stay. My husband and I walked in to rice being on the couch and I'm not joking. 2. Hair in the shower. Gross. Enough said 3. Towel shortage. Not only were there no towels in the room when we first checked in, but when we requested towels again, they gave us pool towels (as if we wouldn't notice) and explained that the regular towels were still being washed. One of the worse Hyatt Places I've ever staid. Like everyone I stay at (unless I call manager and talk to them prior to arrival) even though we are on priority list that says no feathers we always have feather pillows if not also feather comforter. This time just pillows. The electrical plugins were shoved in the wall and only 2 of 4 working. Only one bar of soap for 3 people. Only 3 towels for 3 people so no towel to put on floor after bath. Table between beds was sticky so tried to clean it with napkin and either coffee or varnish came off and was still sticky. Some of these are just nuisances but with wife and son being very allergic to feathers and messed up electrical sockets could both be a cause of serious safety concerns. Worse Hyatt stay got worse as room became hot during night and interrupted sleep. Couch was old and uncontrollable. Kicker was breakfast. I know with COVID and restrictions you have to be safe and rules vary from state to state and company to company and I like safe but this was pathetic Choice of beverage was coffee or bottled water. Yogurt only choice vanilla Choice of two off flavored cheap breakfast bars. Fruit was apple or green spotted bananas.. That was it! No prepackaged muffins from the Dollar Store or anything. This is the second Hyatt Place I've stayed in this year and both have been impressively updated and clean. Two of my favorite parts of these stays were the large complimentary hot breakfast spreads and the layout of the rooms (couch/desk area and bed - very comfortable and spacious). A special shout out to this location for being dog friendly with a few spots of grass surrounding the hotel for "dog things". I could see how they would be very suitable for the business/work traveler crowd given their proximity to several office buildings and steak eateries...not exactly the "taste of all things Alabama" at this location but it did the trick for us. The room was clean, featured tea and coffee and a couch/tv sitting area. My only complaint would be that the shower looked like it could use a little love to match the level of the rest of the room. I didn't have a chance to check it out but they do offer an indoor pool -which is actually one of the reasons I booked this hotel in the first place. The hotel also offers a mini coffee shop (which might be standard at Hyatt Place in general?). You could easily reach several shops and eateries within walking distance of the hotel at an outdoor strip mall next door. Most importantly, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. read more

Check in seemed to really bother the staff. They had to get up and do something. We got a room on the third floor. The elevators we not working. What a pain. The staff didn't seem to mind as they were not running up the stairs. An older couple checked in and they where on the fifth floor. There was no way possible that they could of taken the stairs, again staff could care less. The negative Nancy behind the counter told them if they canceled they would be charged full price. What a crock of s!$&.. So I went to the bar and set there for ten minutes before the bartender got off the phone. This place is a joke. Oh and if you need towels and call all day asking if you could have a couple clean ones they will tell you that they are busy and come get them yourself. Very unpleasant first time experience and this place is not COVID friendly. Sheets were dirty with blood, crust, and other various fluids that I don't want to know what they were. I checked out this morning and brought it up to the lady at the front. She was very nice and helpful. I'm upset with management for not calling me back or addressing my concern. At first the manager was late to showing up to work and then it changed to him allegedly being on phone calls all morning. I was promised I would receive a call by 3pm and I still haven't received any call. I stay at the Hyatt all the time and I can't believe this specific location would have such horrible service. ln addition I am extremely appalled how any hotel can have dirty sheets used by other people during a pandemic. You pretty much touchscreen your way to food and pick it up...there isn't a traditional type of room service. The lobby is odd and you can easily miss it. Usually when we travel we search for an indoor pool was very happy with this indoor pool it was heated and even though there was some algae building up on the Stone and Tile at the main entrance by the steps which needed to be cleaned over all the pool was and was clean and clear. The room was nice however had a lot of stains all over the couch but room itself seemed clean. Two stars because the staff was very friendly. However...One of the front desk attendants was standing right behind a "masks required" sign while not wearing a mask. Other guests were left alone on the lobby couches also not wearing their masks. Workers here do not conform to Hyatt policies. The room itself was dirty. It was clear that housekeeping is not managed well. The floor hadn't been swept and had food crumbs all over. We noticed this after seeing dozens of ants crawling in the bathroom and then along the edges of the floor in the room. Also the thermostat does not seem to work. The AC unit blows freezing air even when it is turned "off". Overall, poor housekeeping ruined the experience for us. We normally seek out Hyatt's when traveling, but this was a disappointment. read more

Unfortunately the hotel is designed with a modern style that trumps functionality. The surrounding area was the only major plus for me. If/when we come back I'll look for hotels in the same area, just not the Hyatt. Cons - SHOWER! The shower only has 3/4 of the needed glass, so water would spill everywhere. The toilet/shower area was extremely small and nearly impossible to close the bathroom door. After a shower there would be water all over the place which made navigating the bathroom even more difficult. Additionally, the shower temperature would only be searing hot or cool, there was no in-between. - Sink had the previous guest hair in it and there were crumbs on the desk - Door is heavy... every time we closed it, it would slam and shake the entire wall. - Small unimpressive pool - No bike rack so we had to bring our bikes up to the room Pros - A high end shopping center which includes dining and an apple store, all within walking distance. - The area has plenty of security circling due to the shopping center and I even noticed a cop car would do rounds through the Hyatt parking lot. - Gym was small but they had free headphones Overall, we expected more from a Hyatt. read more

I am usually fan of the Hyatt Place brand because they are usually newly built or newly remodeled. Unfortunately, this particular location did not meet that expectation, mostly because of outdated furnishings. Beds were alright but the sofa had numerous stains and signs of significant wear/tear, reminiscent of Homer Simpson's couch groove. Otherwise, front desk service was good and satisfied all of my needs. The complimentary breakfast was exactly the same as you would see at all Hyatt Places, which was adequate. read more

When the place you rest your head during a busy family weekend is an utter disappointment, it mars the entire experience of what should be sheer celebration of a nephew's graduation weekend. With just one night of three under our belts, we are facing the rest of the weekend with much trepidation. I won't even go into detail about the reservation bobbles resulting from the staff members seemingly being unable to communicate with one another. The focus of this review will be on poor service, inoperable accommodations and a manager who assumed our only motivation for complaining was to get something free or discounted. Our graduation party occupied about six rooms. The management (not the regular desk clerks who were actually pretty delightful) was not keen to be very helpful, for some reason expressing disdain for our having booked through Expedia. In summary, we experienced dirty sheets at check in, a filthy shower, a broken refrigerator and still no housekeeping as of 4:30 in the afternoon. Returning from a graduation ceremony and luncheon, we wanted to relax. Some wanted to shower. Both hard to do in an unmade room with no clean towels. All management had were excuses about being fully booked, but insisted they were not understaffed. How are you not prepared for Memorial Day weekend...with a graduation occurring just across the street...and a large family reunion (larger than our party) booked on the same weekend. We could not help but notice that members of that family reunion party were being made to wait for check in as their rooms were not yet cleaned and available. My advice to anyone coming to town next graduation season for the Saint Andrew's commencement...pick another hotel. There are several finer choices in the area. read more

Before I give my reviews of the actual hotel, the staff was VERY NICE. My daughter, my twin grandchildren, and I got a king room with a sleeper couch for a couple of nights while we hosted a wedding shower. I did not look at the reviews beforehand because I thought Hyatt Place would be nice and comfortable because of the reputation in other locations. It's also within walking distance to a high-end shopping center in a nice part of town, so I expected more. The building is in great need of updating. The furniture in all areas of the hotel was beat up, torn, or nicked/scratched. The carpet was filthy and stained in areas in the room and hall. The refrigerator in the room had three huge dents in it, sat crooked, and was NOT cold enough. My salad wilted inside the fridge. The shower floor was FILTHY and the water did not drain out while showering. Yuck! The sink stopper was not attached to the handle so I had to reach inside a stopped up sink of water to pull it out to let the nasty water drain out. We did NOT receive fresh towels after the room was cleaned. They removed the dirty towels and then did not replace them. The elevators are SUPER slow. The carts were never put in the area by the front entrance so we had to search every floor when packing up to leave to find one. My daughter took the elevator to EVERY floor before finally finding a cart on the last floor she checked. As for the free breakfast.... There was NOT ENOUGH food cooked or coffee EVER. There was a tennis tournament going on, a family reunion, and all sorts of other reasons for the hotel to be booked, so why not staff enough people for that many guests? The breakfast area was crowded from opening to closing and there was always a line for eggs, gravy, biscuits, sausage, and coffee. They would always say, "We are cooking more," but the pots were always empty every time I went back to prepare a plate of food. It was very frustrating because we had twin babies to feed along with ourselves, and the free and convenient breakfast was one of the reasons we chose to stay at this hotel. There weren't even enough dishes/eating utensils to go around for all the guests because the staff wasn't washing them fast enough. It was insane! Other guests had looks of frustration and were mumbling under their breath about the lack of food and dishes. The floor in the room vibrated/shook so much it made me and my daughter nervous. I don't know if it was the elevators causing the shaking or what, but it happened during the day and at night off and on. While checking out, I overheard another guest complaining about not receiving fresh towels, too, even after they requested some. When I mentioned the towels after being asked how our stay was, I got the excuse that the hotel had several staff members call out sick, so they were understaffed. I've stayed in many hotels, so I know what to expect for certain prices. I am very disappointed. read more
