Stayed her last night, Dec. 13th 2025 when first making the reservations I confirmed what they have on premise, when I heard a Jacuzzi I was all in to relax in after a dinner. I checked in and entered into the $10 underground parking which was good size and safe. It's a very small hotel, no restaurant yet clean. As I get my electronic key I ask the hours to enjoy the jacuzzi and was told it's out of order waiting for a part, major disappointment! They offered a basic breakfast buffet and I slept good just disappointed with what I shared above. read more

It was easy to make a reservation online. However I wish the website offered a convenient link/button to "add reservation to calendar", a feature that many other hotel reservation sites offer. You get lower rates when you're a World of Hyatt member (free to join). The World of Hyatt app could use some improvement. Hotel check in is at 3pm. I went into the app (after seeing a notification) to check in. It said it would notify me when room was ready. Checked app at 3pm; app still said it will notify me when room is ready. Checked at 4pm, same message. Checked at 5:15pm, same message. See a trend? Not much parking in front to stop & check in. There were 2 spaces, one regular space and 1 handicap space. Both were occupied when we arrived, so we had to go park in the garage and walk back toward the front lobby. The garage space is very tight. On the upside, there are lots of EV parking spots. It is tricky to get in and out of the driveway to the hotel, due to proximity to State Street & US101 highway. There is no street level parking for the hotel. The street level parking you see after entering the driveway to the hotel belongs to the restaurant next door. You must enter the underground parking structure. The parking garage is TIGHT!!! And we were in a smallish SUV (Honda CR-V). Parking is $9.99 per night. Lower parking garage level B2 has maybe around 45 parking spaces, and no EV charging spaces. EV charging is on level B1. Breakfast is from 6:30am to 9am. Slim breakfast selection. Nothing is "freshly" made, other than hard boiled eggs & coffee. Breakfast sandwich or burrito upon request. Other options include muffins, cereal, yogurt, apples, oranges, bananas, coffee, and orange juice. Breakfast area seats approximately 45 people. There are mostly low tables, plus a few higher seats at on high-top table & counter. 2 TV screens in the room. The room temperature is uneven due to the "out" vent on the wall near the top of the wardrobe. The cool air gets blown toward the desk and sofa area, while the bed side of the room gets too warm. The bathroom sink was cracked. Clock radio on night stand is 20 minutes slow... but it has 2 USB ports. Fitness Center has Life Fitness machines and Hammer Strength weights. This hotel is an easy drive to downtown Santa Barbara and UC Santa Barbara. It's a good choice when you don't want to be right on touristy part of State Street. . read more

Hotel looked clean. Mattress was very comfortable. Rooms was spacious. Staffs were nice. Hot tube seem isolated without a pool. Nice that they had breakfast. $10 pay parking in underground structure was not a choice. Did know it was a pet friendly hotel until arrival. Was concern we might be allergic, but it was ok. Starting with the good stuff... room was super clean. The reason for a 2 star review is to reflect how this compares to Hyatt Places we have enjoyed at other locations. This Hyatt has a below ground parking lot that anybody can access which lacked a feeling of safety at night, the front desk staff was physically present but not what I would call professional, the room was so loud that it interfered with sleep. It does have a Mexican restaurant across the driveway so you can choose to avoid the unsecured parking garage at night and just walk to dinner. For the price I would NOT recommend. read more

This was a great place to stay in Santa Barbara. The hotel itself is nice. I like the Spanish tile on the stairs and the Spanish style courtyard. Location-wise the hotel is close to most of Santa Barbara's main attractions. Rooms are nice, clean, and spacious. I even liked how housekeeping even made my tissue box look like a flower was coming out of it. The complementary breakfast was good too and was a step better than your usual hotel continental breakfast. The eggs were higher quality and they used brown cage-free eggs. We stayed for 3 nights with a small dog. There's a $75 one time fee for the pet cleaning fee, $9.99 per day for parking and a daily $30 accomodation fee on top of the daily rate. Anyway, good location-very near restaurants, mall and freeway intersections. Rooms have a mini fridge and working AC. Mattresses are comfortable but the pillows were too soft IMO. The free breakfast options: Bacon, pancakes or french toast, boiled, scrambled eggs, individual boxes of cereal and oatmeal, bagels, and bananas. Check in staff were ok. I would not say they were welcoming or professional looking One of them was wearing a hoodie. The only reason we chose this location was because of our pet. Otherwise, we would have made reservations at a classier hotel. read more

Please show your evidence to prove your point. Why we entered into a complete different room while we had two rooms available for us at the same time. We traveled with families from LA to SB, why in the world we spent time messing with your cleaning lady.....Also the so called refund was only $100 while we paid almost $1,400. I am really surprised by the bad reviews of this place. Complaining about kids volume? That's on the parents not the hotel. Parking was $10.00, I find that to be extremely reasonable. Most people look at the location of a hotel before booking, odd to see a complaint about that. It was a ten minute Uber to our dinner. We found Thomas to be attentive and kind. We brought our dog and had zero issues. Would absolutely stay here again next time we are in the area. This is a Hyatt Place not the Waldorf Astoria, manage your expectations. My wife and I stayed here two weeks ago for a few nights to celebrate our one year anniversary. The hotel was small but cute and cozy. The rooms were nice and the bed was soooo cozy. I love that this place offers breakfast in the morning! The front desk workers were great on both nights! We utilized our late check out and slept in. It was very relaxing! Although there wasn't a pool, we utilized the spa and it was relaxing. This hotel is pretty close to the zoo and the beach..in fact, on checkout day, there were several families arriving to drop their kids off for college. Wow. I am one night into a three-night vacation and I want to leave. It wasn't the lack of view that makes me want to leave. There is a four foot wall outside our window. It wasn't the fact that I booked a room for four people and was given one king bed and one sofa sleeper with little support for the mattress. It's not the fact that the hotel has no extra pillows, comforters, etc. to spare for this pillow-less and blanket-less pull out sleeper. It's not even that this is a Santa Barbara hotel without a pool, or a California hotel without a window. This negative review is caused by Thomas Springer, the general manager of this hotel, who has zero customer service ethic. He exhibited no humanity either. I told him that we are entitled to free accessible parking as my father in law has California-issued decal. Thomas said that everyone who has a room on the property has to pay for parking. I told him we have one car between two rooms and it's not parked in the garage. Thomas said it doesn't matter. This is all illegal. My mother in law complained about her bed - that it was too soft for her. He said "it's a good bed. It's a standard bed. I can't change it. The bed is not the problem here." She said she has a backache and asked if she can try a different room. Thomas isn't going to do anything for her. I walked around the desk to offer him some friendly advice as I also have customers. That he should acknowledge her pain and apologize for it and that it would really go a long way. He said he's been doing this for twelve years and does not need advice. That "you're putting your hands in my face is not appropriate." Shocked, I asked him if he feels threatened, can we have our money back and cancel our reservation. Of course, he won't refund us but we can leave. I ask anyone from Hyatt to review the footage and really look into Thomas who seems to be the subject of the MANY 1 star reviews of this property. read more

One star for having a clean and comfortable bed and another star for a functional television. And that's it. For nearly $500 a night, I've slept in motels nicer than this. Basic amenities like styrofoam cups and a coffee maker, but not much else. Lots of other problems like split wallpaper, damaged furniture, and a dirty shower head. Staff was helpful, but not very friendly. Walls were paper thin. We could hear people moving around very clearly. Also water pipes and A/C were really loud. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with my stay there. Save your money and go someplace else. read more

I've been a loyal Hyatt member for years but not anymore. Worst hotel experience ever. STAY FAR AWAY! 1) BF and I left a note for early check in when we made the reservations weeks prior. I even made sure to call again an hour before arriving to request early check. GM (Thomas) said they were "heavily booked" and couldn't get us in earlier than 12. But, when we arrived, the parking lot was empty, and at least 3 people checked out when we arrived and there was still no room available? He didn't even have the decency to let us enjoy breakfast while we waited either since "it's for hotel guests" and we haven't checked in yet. He told us to wait for a confirmation text for when the room would be ready. 2) After waiting 2 hours in the parking lot for the text, we decided to go into the lobby and ask a different employee... who miraculously was able to help us and check us in immediately into a room. On the way to the room, we passed the GM in the hall, and once we got into our room, that's when he sent the text our room was ready to be checked into. 3) Pretty sure GM set us up with the worst room possible. Our view was literally 2 walls, and it was the farthest room in the hotel. But that wasn't even the worst part. Despite waiting the 2 hours for a room to be available and cleaned, there were yellow streaks in the sink. My bf is confident it looked like puke. Wtf is the point in waiting that long if the room isn't even properly cleaned? 4) We called Hyatt corporate and let them know about how our experience was, and they said they would reach out to GM for a refund. Hyatt corporate said that GM refused, and they couldn't do anything. They suggested we go down to ask him again in person for a refund. 5) we went downstairs. Told the GM about our experience, showed him the photo, and he had the nerve to say "I see water, so you used the sink?" I replied, "i went to wash my hands, how else would I have noticed? That doesn't take away from the fact there's a giant yellow streak of puke?? Do you see that?" Just when I thought he couldn't have spit out more nonsense he brought up how he already did us a favor of checking us in "early". We said we refuse to stay here and would like a refund. Which he again denied. 6) BF and I left to Solvang since we had reservations, and I got a bill from the Hyatt. He checked us out of the hotel without my permission, and charged my card! On top of that added "accommodation fees". Thank goodness we didn't bring anything to the room, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get our things. Stayed here a night while visiting a SB/Solvang trip. The location is sort of weird. It was decently maintained and had plenty of parking spaces in the garage. Swimming pool was the size of a jaccuzi. Our 2Q room had the basic same layout as other Hyatt place but was above average in terms of furnitures and decor. Standard Hyatt place free breakfast with pretty cookie cutter lobby area. I have no idea why this place is category 6 hyatt property in 2024/2025 when places like San Diego Grand Hyatt is cat 5 (20K free night points for Hyatt place is pretty intense...) No major complaint but nothing extraordinary either. read more

The hotel doesn't have the best location so a bit tricky to navigate the first couple days but if you have some sense you should be able to figure it out.slower side of state street but to some that may be a good thing. There's a bare bones gas station a few doors down and the Mexican restaurant right next door is pretty good. Will have to review them next. There's a Target a few blocks over to load up on supplies. Overall our stay was very pleasant. The room was clean and larger than your average double queen. Running the shower was loud but we didn't run into any noise issues. If anything my kids were probably the loud ones. It has a small couch and table my kids to play on and destroy. The rooms don't really offer great view and we got the Mexican restaurants parking lots but they do offer a two story underground parking with numerous ev plug ins. They charge $10 a night for parking but that's pretty standard and it felt safer for the little ones. Staff was nice and offered great service. No pool but there is a small hot tub. Would consider staying here again as it offers a good bang for your buck. read more

This is a hard review for me to write because there are a lot of great things about this hotel. But of course there are a few negatives. Pros: 1. Very clean and good Covid protocol with hand sanitizer nearby any spot in the hotel and auto check out so you only have to deal with the front desk at check in only to get the keys. When you leave, you deposit the keys in a box by the elevator. 2. Very modern decor in the rooms 3. Free continental breakfast 4. Lots of pillows 5. Safe neighborhood and your vehicle feels safe in the parking garage Cons 1. Continental breakfast is served 2 hours 6:30-8:30. I feel the timeframe is ridiculous for those of us on vacation and actually want to sleep in! 2. Continental breakfast is not diabetic, low carb diet or vegan friendly at all. I am keto and I do commend them for having hard boiled eggs, it would have been nice to have a sausage or bacon option as well. Or even just some cheese sticks! Something more substantial. 3. Very thin walls. The guests next to us had a crying baby that would cry at all hours of the night. AND you can hear the water pipes for anyone around you taking a shower. 4. You have to pay $9 per day for parking. This is ridiculous. It's their own parking garage and hotel guests should have parking included, especially after booking 3 nights here. 5. The shower was way too hot! It was scalding and felt like it was burning my skin! If the manger reads this, please check the water in room 318. 6. No microwave! Forget about storing leftovers in your mini fridge (which doesn't seem very cold to begin with) and the only microwave available is the one in the continental breakfast area that is only available during breakfast hours. read more

This is a decent out-of-the-way hotel that I stayed at for free on points (plus $75 dog fee). The room? Clean, fairly new, nice bed, reliable shower, and a tiny window view of U-haul self-storage lot. The staff? Nice, but not nice enough to do any housekeeping after I'd requested it. Breakfast is included, but you have to ask for anything substantial, which is prepackaged (breakfast burrito and sandwich). The location isn't that great. It's located where Highway 154 ends at State Street. About 10 years ago a truck lost its brakes on 154 and smashed the house that had been there. I hope the front desk clerk keeps an eye out. There's a Mexican restaurant next door that's pretty adamant about hotel guests not parking there or letting dogs visit the mulch to the back of their lot. There's a homeless encampment on the opposite corner, and you need to go a few blocks to find a patch of grass for your pup. I found a 3-mile loop that goes into a pretty neighborhood across the train tracks. There are further trails from their that go into a really pretty country-club neighborhood. Parking is in a garage below. I'm not sure if it's paid parking; I wasn't charged. I saw this hotel charges about $400 a night. If I'd paid that and expected beautiful Santa Barbara vistas, I'm sure my rating would be less charitable. But for free-ish, it's not bad at all. read more

Vacation for 4. Globalist. - Location (4/5) While some might prefer being straight by the beach, I actually found being slightly away from the beach scene refreshing. Yet, being right at the intersection of 101 N/S, we were 10 mins from anywhere we wanted to go. There's also great food and grocery just half a mile away. - Parking (5/5) Maybe hotel wasn't at max capacity, but the parking underground was spacious and plentiful. Being connected directly to the elevator leading to the rooms was also a bonus, as you could go from car to room in 2 mins. Great when you forget something. - Check-in / Service (5/5) I was unnerved by some reviews I read, but I thought everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful. In fact, I would argue they went out of their way to help make the stay better. - General Hotel Space Everywhere is quite small, though in some cases, this is quaint in a charming way. I found the courtyard area to be really cozy and a nice spot to hang out during the day. It was also nice that you could get everywhere within the hotel in 5 mins max. - Room (4/5) Spacious as they go for Hyatt Places. The window was a bit small, and the view of the UHaul parking lot a bit uninspired, but everything else was great. I also think this HP used higher thread count sheets than others. Quite comfortable. - Bathroom (4/5) Spacious and comfortable. The mirror was quite new and when you pushed a button, it lit up. Great for getting ready. Water pressure left a little to desire. - Wifi (5/5) Speedy and easy to connect. - Heat/Air (4/5) Reasonably quiet and helped keep the room at a steady temperature. - Breakfast (3/5) Reasonable selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, bagels, hard boiled eggs. But I think it's embarrassing for them still to be serving microwave breakfast burritos that you have to ask for. Most HPs have hot breakfast by now and for the rates they are charging... - Fitness Center (3/5) Small but served a purpose. No cable machine, a couple missing dumbbells, but there were kettle bells! - Value (3/5) I stayed using certificates and points, but these cash rates were in the $400s. I know it's Santa Barbara, but when you're selling a standard HP room with cold breakfast, that's a tough pill to swallow. Adding insult to injury, I noticed this property went from a Cat 4 to a Cat 5, meaning standard certificates are no longer usable here! - Final Word Hard to say if I would stay here again. With cash rates comparable to the Mar Monte, I might prefer that location's proximity to beach. It definitely needs to up its breakfast game for sure. read more

Hyatt Place. Worked out perfectly for our stay in Santa Barbara, a bit far from downtown Santa Barbara but an easy entrance to pop on to the freeway to head downtown. The staff were all friendly, check-in was a breeze. The hotel seemed newly renovated, absolutely love that they have tile floors in the hotel rooms. I wish more hotels would follow that suit, seems cleaner. The room and bathroom were a good size with a mini fridge and coffee maker. There is no pool, but they do have a Jacuzzi with a small sun bathing area. In addition, large courtyard patio which is nice. The gym is very small but all new equipment, which I loved and stocked with hand/equipment wipes and towels. Due to Covid setbacks the free breakfast was coffee/tea hard boiled eggs, cereals fresh fruit and juice along with prepackaged muffins, bagels to toast and upon request 2 microwaveable breakfast items. The breakfast certainly does not beat the open buffet that they use to make for hotel guest, but it sufficed. I would say my friend tried the microwavable breakfast sandwich which he said was horrible. Honestly just do away with those two items... hurts your hotel brand. The location is not grand, no beautiful views from your room (LOL Uhaul storage facility. There is underground parking, 2 levels. EV chargers on the first level, I believe 7 of them but only 1 seemed to work for us. And cautionary, the entrance in and out is tight. Also on a last note, no daily housekeeping for less than a 5 night stay, which was fine with us, we just asked for extra towels that were delivered right away. Aren't service dog friendly. The GM, Thomas S. is what majority of these bad reviews are about. Their staff needs to be educated on what qualifies as a service animal under the ADA. When given clarification on the acts the animal performs, they refuse to listen to take that into consideration. When the ADA gives you a definition of a service animal by the acts they perform, you go by that. Will not recommend to anyone staying here. read more

Found a last minute deal on hotels tonight, which made the room total $300/night. Normally, it's over $400 for weekends. It is remarkable how pricy lodging in Santa Barbara is. This place is wasn't bad, wasn't great. Just okay. Unfortunately, $300 night relative to Santa Barbara is a reasonable price, even if it hurts to r pocket book! parking $10/night extra. You get a tag to hang from your car. The parking garage is very tight, so do be careful. There are EV charging stations, but difficult to get work unless if you have cell service. The wifi doesn't reach the garage and due to the limited parking spots regular cars end up parking in these EV spots. Rooms - regular size, bed was comfortable. Room looked clean. Bath products were basic, felt like it was a motel 6 in the bathroom. AC worked great, tv had plentiful cable channels. The unfortunate thing is the walls and doors are really thin. You can hear people walk by all night not the best if you're a light sleeper or in a high traffic area. Also doors don't slam shut like most hotel doors so be careful. Free breakfast is more of a continental style breakfast - bagels, pre packaged processed muffins, lots of cereal and lots of oatmeal. If you're health conscious about eating processed foods this is probably something you should skip! They have fruits which are banana orange and apple. There are pre packaged breakfast sandwich and burritos that you need to ask for and heat up. Beverages Included coffee and OJ. They left out paper bags so you could do a grab and go breakfast which I appreciated! Probably would not come back next time and try somewhere new. read more

We only stayed one night during Memorial weekend 2023. I picked this hotel because it's pet friendly and I'm a Hyatt member. Using Hyatt points I was able to save a few hundred dollars. No matter where you look, Santa Barbara is darn expensive. Our king size bed was comfortable and I love how they provide breakfast here. Being a pet friendly hotel, the only con I would say they did not have a pet relief area anywhere in the hotel. My maltipoo is used to using pee pads but just a note. It's about a 7 mins drive to the downtown/pier area so you are still near the heart of Santa Barbara. They charge $9.99 for parking and $75 fee for pet cleaning fee - I believe this fee is good for the 1st 5 days of your stay. read more
