I've had the pleasure of dining at Hyatt a few times for various events and conferences in the hotel so this review is mostly the catering and event spaces. First of all the art in this hotel is amazing... you can seriously wonder the halls for quite a while checking out all kinds of awesome Canadian art work of various styles, artists and disciplines. With that in mind it's a very classy venue and I've seen the bar and cocktail hour set up outside the ballroom so there is that excuse to talk and roam which is perfect. The food is delicious. One event had a poutine bar (which I'm sure is a custom request) but everything there was so tasty. They even made a vegetarian gravy for me and my kinfolk. I've also had full sit down meals and the service is well organized and very knowledgeable about the room. They wondered around to find the special meal requirements and the whole team knew what to modify for anyone on that list despite their needs. read more

Spacious beautiful and comfortable room. Staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. Bathroom lovely with lots of towels and soap, etc. Very comfortable beds with air conditioning that worked quietly and great view from the 12th floor. Great job Hyatt even with renovations occurring while we were there. I forgot to say that the breakfast buffet was delicious, although a little pricey at $15. The Starbucks was a great help with bagels and coffee each morning positioned right on the way to the conference center. read more

I've attended several events here, last month being the most recent one. What I appreciate is that the staff are respectful, even if they suspect you are an imposter who is attempting to look and act like one of the upper crust of society at a posh event they are hosting. No one looks down their nose at you and it makes the experience more enjoyable, as I will admit that I'm at the Hyatt for special occasions only. You don't have to look classy to be treated that way. My review is strictly for the ballrooms/event services as every time I'm here it's for work functions. Town halls, Christmas parties, Stampede parties and conferences have all been held here by my company. And whatever the event, it's always orchestrated with great organization and care by the Hyatt catering staff. Whenever there is food, everything always looks fresh and the waitstaff are standing by to clear off any empty dishes or glassware. You can tell that the people here take pride in the company they work for, and that leaves a great impression! I have no doubt that they carry the same hospitality on the hotel side of things, so I would definitely recommend this place to any guest from out of town. As a native Calgarian, I usually stay with family when I come for a visit. However, extenuating circumstances allowed me a chance to spend a night at the Hyatt and I was very much impressed. To start, the staff were exactly as you'd expect from a high-end hotel like this: professional, friendly, and helpful. They were more than willing to offer us late checkout at no additional cost (we like to sleep in okay??) and were incredibly knowledgeable about what restaurants in the area were open as Calgary downtown tends to shutdown on Sunday nights. Similarly, the room was great. Besides the comfy bed (which is obviously the most important part of a hotel room) I particularly enjoyed our 12th floor view and how surprisingly spacious it was, considering we had only booked the most basic room offered. I only have one real complaint and since it's petty, I'm not going to let it affect my 5 star rating: I absolutely hate it when the in-suite minibar is completely stocked with items you have to pay for. I get it. You want to sell me overpriced booze and sodas. However, it would be nice if you left a small refrigerated space to store things like dinner leftovers or keep personal drinks cool. Otherwise I completely enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it to anyone else visiting the city. read more

My husband and I stayed just the one night here, on a family outing. We got a corner room which was beautiful and the view was great. The king size bed was definitely a treat, as it felt like you were sleeping on heaps of whipped cream. Upon check in on Yelp, my husband and I both scored a free coffee from Starbucks, which we saved when we checked out. Even though our reservation was listed under my mother in law, and it seemed confusing, all the staff was super accommodating, beyond friendly, and very informative. The brunch buffet they had looked incredible, and our family said it was top notch. Nestled in the heart of downtown, I would definitely make a return visit. read more

The Thomas restaurant brunch buffet is great, from pancakes to omelets, bacon to yogurt, bagels with lox, beef on a bun, macaroni salad to jello in little glasses and peach pie, it's well worth the $30 per person price tag. Remember that the restaurant will give you a voucher for the underground parking so you can easily waddle to your car after stuffing yourself full of some of the best sausages I've ever had. I enjoyed staying at the Hyatt. All the employees are helpful and customer service is an A+. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. I have to say the food that was ordered during room service was an A++. The Alberta steak bites was heavenly and wonderfully flavorful and spicy. The meat was moist and juicy. The healthy green salad with local chevre and grilled chicken was finding its way to one side of my stomach. Lastly, the beef burger and goat cheese with a side of greens literally put me in a food coma. I gave each plate a good amount of attention before washing it down with a bottle of pan a. Beautiful hotel. I only got to stay here one night because we drove in from banff to catch an early flight the following morning. Awesome stay at the Hyatt... The location is GREAT. It was such a close walk to the little bars and restaurants and shops downtown... Our room was good. The King sized bed was plush..the room felt modern chic..the bathroom was definitely clean and well stocked... HOWEVER... i didn't like the smell of their soap. It totally smelled like GAS. The indoor pool at the top floor was okay. It was warm and it overlooked the city.. Such an awesome view at night. The jacuzzi's water jets weren't working. And the water level in the jacuzzi wasn't cool, man.. It didn't even cover my shoulders and it felt cold..if i scoot down my butt on the seat, it felt uncomfortable.. Yes.. definitely a water level issue. Okay...what is up with the internet service?? We got charged three times. That's ridiculous. Although..we were able to get it refunded. But c'mon. seriously? There's such thing going on such as Free Wi-Fi where we're from..(ahem, California)..even those damn cheap motels where strippers go to have free wifi. I'd totally recommend this hotel for their location..but make sure you check your bill and whatever is charged on your credit card because they seemed to be a little sketchy. read more

This review is about their event services. I've been to a couple of high end "gala" type events here now and have experienced both table service and "food station" type service. I have to say I prefer the table service as the food stations never seem to be able to keep up with the volumes of people/ Either way though the food has always tasted good and has been above an beyond your standard hotel fair. The Imperial ballroom level is nice and lends itself well to large galas or weddings.There is ample space for mingling outside the ballroom (and to set up additional bar and food services). Washrooms are spacious (there was never a line) and quite clean. The decor there is nice too. The only weird thing is that the men and women's washrooms are quite far from one another. I overheard a few guests perplexed as to where the men's washroom might even be. Catering staff were friendly and professional, a step above many of the other event venues I've been to recently. As some of the previous Yelpers have noted, parking isn't cheap. I appreciate expensive daily parking during the week, being a prime downtown location. But $25 for a Sunday night event is a bit ridiculous. read more

Spent the night here after a company Christmas party. The hotel is very clean and modern. The staff always very friendly and check in/out was quick. However, parking is very expensive for $30 you can park yourself underground or for $40 you can have valet. There's no street parking and a lot of construction when we stayed. The room was big and clean. The bed wasn't too comfortable. The basic amenities are offered. We stayed on the 7th floor and we couldn't hear the construction noise outside BUT we could hear our neighbouring room toilet flush all night. Overall the experience was meh! I probably would only stay here for the convince of being close to the company Christmas party venue. read more

16th floor and up has stellar city views and the regency club is a smart choice for a quick bite to eat when moving at a fast pace. Conference level suites are huge with full kitchen, boardroom interiors, two full baths and plenty of couches and space to move around in. Our suite on the 16th floor offered 1500 square feet without a doubt and views as well. read more

The best part of the Hyatt is the staff! Wow, so impressed with the staff! In particular, Aubrey and Han. These two know how to make people feel very welcomed. There was another lady that was also SUPER! I was staying for the teacher's convention and my roommate accidentally took a bottle of water out of the mini bar. She then tried and tried and tried to replace it. When the bill came, I had several charges for this...I went and spoke to the front desk and the lady (whose name I didn't get) immediately took the charges off. She also made sure that my bags and car (which was in valet) were taken care of, as I had to stay later because I was also working the event. The rooms were very clean and room service was sooooo yummy! My only complaint was when I went to pick up my car from valet. I gave my ticket to the tall gentleman (looks a little like Scott Disick for the Kardashians haha ;)) told me it would be 5-10 minutes. After 55 minutes, I finally went to say something. Han had just started his shift. He was extremely apologetic and pretty much snapped his fingers and my car was there. He then continued to offer me bottles of water for my ride home. He was very kind! Overall. It was a great experience :) They also tend to have wine and watermelon infused water in the lobby...which is a nice touch! read more

This place has the best Sunday buffet brunch in town. We could not believe the quality of food presented at this buffet. They had an antipasto section that was fantastic. Fresh, marinated artichoke hearts, grilled peppers, an assortment of olives, cheeses, along with grilled zucchini. I can't even remember all the different foods in that section. Then I moved on to the breakfast part and the scrambled eggs were so light and fluffy. The eggs benny were super good and the hollandaise sauce was lemony and obviously made from scratch. The desserts were presented in a way that made one want to try every single one of them. At other buffets, we usually take a few to try and seldom clean our plate. Heck, I could have licked that doggone plate. They actually had the cutest little hand-made truffles that were absolutely yummy and the mascarpone cheesecake was scrumptious! Our server asked us if we had tried the caramel cheesecake, which we hadn't, so I beetled up there and grabbed one of those and the server was on the mark because it was so good! The cost was around $28/person and so worth every cent. We are going to return next Sunday as well and I can't wait! If you want to impress someone with a really good Sunday buffet, you will not go wrong by going to the Hyatt. You will be so glad - so very, very glad. read more

Very disappointed. Customer service obviously is not a concern to them. After seeing the hotel many times in Calgary we decided to try this hotel instead of our usual hotel around the corner. MISTAKE. We were greeted by a snarky receptionist and a basket of ear plugs. Telling us there would be jack hammering 24 hours a day outside the hotel. After checking in we attempted in getting our car out of valet. That took over 30 minutes and no one seemed to care or want to answer phones. The room was comfortable enough but the sheets they use don't even cover the entire mattress. Leaving the bottom 2 inches exposed. A small problem for me being tall as my feet were on the bare mattress. DISGUSTING. The hotel attempts at having valet but doesn't staff it properly or respond. Returning the car again Friday night it was left out front with all the meandering drunks and party goers from the near by pedestrian street. Saturday night the entire front entry was a parking lot and you couldn't even get your car in to valet. Breakfast in the Thompson was ok. Typical breakfast and less than impressive. Boxed eggs, under and over cooked bacon. Blah. At checkout when I expressed it was a less than stellar stay they asked me for my phone number and the would be in contact. No receipt was provided at all, except the slid under our door for breakfast. Overall I honestly don't think I would stay again at this Hyatt and it had made me rethink what I think of the Hyatt name. read more

Great location, easy parking, nice rooms, and pretty quiet inside. Friendly check in. Suggestion for the upgraded breakfast included please stay open until 10. And when you decide to close down please announce it before quickly running off with everything. Arrived at 9:04 to find nothing left. Hotels are vacation time so 10 would be more reasonable. Also wanted to go swimming at 10pm and the pool was closed. When it's light until 10 or so you want to stay out in the city until dark. Just my two disappointments with the stay, but would consider returning. read more

Such a great hotel. Beautiful lobby and well maintained rooms. The hotel front desk staff are a delight, so helpful from check-in to check-out. The 18th floor swimming pool and gym are so well maintained that they look brand new. If you have access to the Regency Club you will really enjoy the offerings and variety of food and drink to be had, delicious. The people who take care of you at the Regency Club are amazing, they really want you to have a great experience. You will also enjoy the downtown location that is so convenient you can walk to great museums and shopping. Enjoy your stay. read more

I spent 4 nights there last week and this is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. I can not say enough about the customer service that I have received at this hotel. These people know customer service!!! I travel extensively on business and stay in hotels 100+ nights a year. This place is miles ahead of any of them I have stayed at in years. I can honestly say from a customer service aspect, this Hyatt is in the top 5 Hotels that I have stayed at in the last 20 years. I was there for the CsHm Event and needed to find a hardware store for some items for my booth. I asked where one was from the concierge and he immediately contacted their maintenance department whereupon they responded with all the items that I was about to have to go on a scavenger hunt for. Then after the event, my company to my angst left me with a pallet full of equipment on the third floor to be shipped by someone other than the hotel. The hotel went out of there way again to have someone come up with a Pallet Jack and take my equipment down to their loading dock to be picked up by an alternative vendor. I would give these hotel employees a 10 if I could. OK, so the rest of the hotel is top quality, older but well kept, the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, the restaurants are good but I don't think that they are anything special, especially for the price. I will stay at this hotel from now on when traveling in Calgary. read more

The lovely folks at the Hyatt let us stow our bags there for no charge even though we weren't guests of the hotel, and were super friendly and helpful. When we came back to pick them up we popped into the washroom first, and the concierge had a cab waiting with our bags in it by the time we got out. Talk about service! Gorgeous venue for conferences, the ballrooms are big and bright! I attended my first shareholders meeting here and needless to say I was fairly impressed with the staff as well as the venue. There were no technical issues with the equipment so that was nice to see and everything fairly organized. More people showed up than they were expecting and the only thing I wish the staff would have done is brought in more chairs. This venue is conveniently located downtown close to the C-Train so it's easy to access. It's very clean in the common areas and overall it seemed like a fairly relaxed atmosphere. No water in room. No food past 10pm. No snacks, mini-bar of other drinks. It's just a bed and a TV, which makes any roadside motel better than this place. Basically if you're checking in past 10pm you're better off finding another hotel as you'll need to walk the streets looking for a coffee or food. Really not what you'd want after a long flight. For a 4 star hotel the room I stayed in was really small & nothing special- the interior was dated, defiently needs a refresh. You had pay for parking which I find foolish. I will not ns staying at this chain of hotels again. read more

First time was great, got a suite good service all went good. second time 2 months ago opposite they lost in room dining order, took a while to get book in. Saw really good reviews....but ive been to nicer hotels. As well my stay was horrible. I got an allergic reaction to the detergent they used on the bed covers and stuff and my nose was extremely plugged and could barely breath when sleeping and eyes were so watery and swollen. All they did was change us to another room a bit smaller and it had 2 humidifiers inside. It didnt help. We had paid to stay for 2 nights and had to leave the first night as i wasnt getting any better. After arguing with the hotel staff as they wouldnt refund us back the amount for the next day we paid for due to obvious health reasons, we just left. The hotel staff basically told us lies and said we will close down the room and get the lab to do work on it. OKAYYY...im pretty sure u will over my allergy attack! They basically said anything they could think of just to get it over n done with. We booked through expedia and they even said they should have done something more for us. Obviously they didnt. I will not be coming back to this hotel! read more
