Their morning breakfast is amazing with soooo many options. 8, that's right 8 waffle irons! I've never seen so many. The breakfast space is nicely laid out and there is decent seating. Coffee was also a crowd pleaser. We don't have housekeeping service so I can't speak on that. The day we arrived their digital keys were having issues so to a system issue so ended up going old school with standard keys. The next day it was fixed. Not sure what happened at the pool as the first morning there was drained but was refilled an open to guests in the evening.

The JW Marriott Houston by The Galleria checked those boxes. The location was great for us and close to pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. The Galleria is literally right across the street, and the hotel offers a free shuttle, which makes getting around the immediate area really easy. If shopping is your thing, you definitely won't be disappointed. It's also a great location for exploring Houston beyond the Galleria. Montrose isn't far away, and there is some seriously good food nearby. Great BBQ, great ice cream, and plenty of places to wander around and eat entirely too much. Definitely make the trip over to Rice Village. Lots of restaurants, shops, coffee, and places to just walk around for a while. We really enjoyed that area. Parking was another pleasant surprise. Self-parking in the garage was pretty reasonable, at least by big-city hotel standards. Once you have your room key, getting in and out is simple. I always appreciate being able to come and go without dealing with valet every single time I want the car. The pool is fairly small, so don't come expecting a giant resort pool, but it was nice. There were plenty of chairs when we were there and cabanas available to rent. The gym was also really nice and had everything I needed for a workout, which unfortunately meant I had no legitimate excuse to skip one. One of my favorite parts of the stay was breakfast in the concierge lounge. This wasn't a couple of muffins and a bowl of bananas masquerading as breakfast. They had fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, juices, milk, and a really good espresso machine. I probably got more excited about the espresso machine than a normal person should, but again, see the aforementioned bougie hotel problem. Overall, we really enjoyed the JW Marriott. Great location, easy parking, nice amenities, good lounge, and convenient to some of the best parts of Houston. It was upscale without feeling stuffy, which is pretty much exactly what I want in a hotel. I'd absolutely stay here again. And if you do, get out of the Galleria area for a while. Go explore Montrose, eat some BBQ, find some good ice cream, and spend a little time at Rice Village. Houston has a lot more going on than I realized.

Both were set up and executed very well. All of the staff was phenomenal. These are the ones I was able to get their names before I left. All of them went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. There was a lot of open space in addition to the king bed and the living room area. Even though it was February, it was actually quite warm and humid inside the room. We had recently experienced temperatures in the teens in Dallas, so being in a room with the temperature in the mid 70s, seemed unbearably hot. We had to find the A/C and turn the temperature down a few degrees. The hotel is located near the arts district where we were planning to spend our Saturday. The earliest we could checkin was 3pm, so we spent our day visiting the city and just left our luggage in the car. Checkin was super easy since we already had a reservation. Parking was included. The property has a fence around it, so the parking felt relatively secure. It was also well lit. The spots in the front were mostly taken, but you could drive around to the back of the building and easily find a space. The hotel has an elevator, but it is very slow. We used the stairs quite a bit, but found the elevator useful for carrying our bags upstairs. The view was limited and not very appealing, but the building only has about three floors. Amenities like a pool, gym, and laundry facility were also available at no added charge. The Wifi name and password were printed on the room key to make it easy to connect. Breakfast was included. The breakfast area had several tables. the meal is buffet style. They do have hot items like scrambled eggs, sausage, and breakfast tacos. You can make a waffle or toast bread or a bagel. Cold items like juice, yogurt, cereal are also an option. Two staff members were there making sure food was readily available and that things were kept clean. There were a few items that bothered me about this particular hotel. One, there was no TV reception in my room. I couldn't believe there weren't any channels, not even local channels! I was also annoyed that the bathroom sink was not draining properly. My husband had to play with it to get it to drain at all, and even then, it took a very long time for the water in the sink to empty after washing my hands or brushing my teeth. Lastly, the light switch at the entrance of the room only controlled the lighting in the entryway. I had to go around and turn on individual lights to feel like it wasn't so dark. These were minor inconveniences, but for the price, I would have expected these not to be an issue at all. The staff at the front desk were very pleasant and went out of their way to help me. On the day of our departure, my husband wasn't feeling well. They provided me with some bottled water as well as a Sprite to help his stomach. I was so touched by this offer. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We both got a good night's sleep.

The breakfast didn't have any upscale items like bacon or eggs, but they had 4 different types of fresh fruit, so it wasn't the bare minimum either. My biggest complaint is the variety of annoying sounds I heard in my room: the toilet would occasionally run water as if it were flushed (probably a seal leak), the fridge would make some knocking sounds when it cycled on, and occasionally there was a loud clanking sound somewhere near or above the bathroom sink. On my second day, I reported two of the three issues they didn't fix it, but I didn't expect them to since it's hard to fix something when the sound doesn't occur while the repair guy is standing there. Like most Hilton hotels in this price range, the TV video quality was poor to moderate, depending on the time of day (I think). Trash bins were very small. The elevator floor number 1 label is completely rubbed off and floor 2 is half rubbed off, making them hard to read. Also, the floor buttons aren't the easiest to push. It's trivial but annoying the first time I tried to find my floor button and might not be ADA compliant. Everything suggests a low class, low quality, profit-before-customer experience, but it works just fine if all you need is a clean bed and basic breakfast.

[The Staff] Every staff member knew my family, and they really went above and beyond to make up feel welcome and provide encouragement. The kindness shown by the staff was incredible. For over two months, I didn't have a single negative encounter. [Housekeeping] The only negative thing about the stay is the housekeeping. Unfortunately, housekeeping was very subpar. I actually went out and purchased cleaning supplies, so I could clean the room myself. The staff spot cleaned. For example, they would remove the dishes from the counter and place them in the sink, but the counter would be dirty/sticky from the food. I also had an issue with them making the beds. I believe I had a queen sized bed, but the bedding they provided was for a full sized bed. The fitted sheet didn't even stretch across the entire bed. After days of this, I called to tell them I need the correct size. They quickly swapped them out for me. I'm a stickler about making beds in the morning, so I would do that, but housekeeping would come later and re-make it, which was annoying because they tuck the sheets in so tight I have to muster up all the strength in my body to pull them back. One minor thing I found annoying is housekeeping comes by every single day, even if you have the do no disturb hanger on your door. The don't do a full service cleaning each day, but they do stop by every single day to see if you need anything. [Dining] There is a restaurant/bar downstairs that has daily specials. We never ordered anything, so I can't speak to the food. The one time I was going to order, it was $90+ for 3 personal pizzas, so I decided to DoorDash instead. There is a kickback each evening, but we weren't a fan of any of the offerings. Also, we were almost always away during that time. The free breakfast was nice. It can get very crowded on the weekends and close to closing (9am on the week days & 10am on the weekends). I would also try to go at around 7:30am. At that time, the breakfast area is practically empty. The food was the same every day. They have fruit (melon & cantaloupe), yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, waffles, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, breads+bagels, blueberry muffins, and cinnamon rolls. The bacon was always hard and inedible but everything else was good. [Parking] Parking was $22/day. You need a key to get inside the garage as well as to leave. Once you enter the garage, you also need a key to enter the hotel, which made me feel safe. My family and I actually purchased card lanyard to hold our hotel keys, since we needed them so often. This allowed us to wear them around and necks and always have access. [The Market] There is a fully stocked market downstairs. It has medicines, drinks, frozen foods, etc. By the time I checked out, I had racked up $50 in charges from the market because I'd always get thirsty and go grab a drink. Having the market is so convenient, although the markup is a bit outrageous. For example, I tried to purchase Benadryl, and it was $25 at the market. I ended up ordered Walmart delivery, and the same Benadryl was only $6. I love the easy check out system, yet I noticed a lot of people struggled with it. There is no cashier. You scan your item then pay at the kiosk or enter the info to charge to your room. [Laundry] - On site laundry is free - all you need is detergent. Most of the machines were out of order during my first month there, but towards the end, I noticed the "out of service" signs being less and less. The dryers only dry for 35 minutes, which was never enough for my items. They were always still damp, so I recommend after the 35 minutes is up , just press start again to give it another go. [Pool] Unfortunately it was too cool during our visit to enjoy the pool. We attempted once when the weather was a little warm, but the water was freezing. I remember when we first checked in, we were told the pool was heated, but it definitely isn't. [Fitness Center] It was always empty whenever we went. It's small but sufficient. It is fully stocked with free headphones and tons of towels. There was always a towel available at each machine as well. [Overall] My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff members were friendly and inviting. We always felt safe in the hotel, and the location is very convenient - close to everything. The hotel still has a new smell to it. It's new and modern and just feels fancy as soon as you walk in. Despite some housekeeping issues and issues with dogs (not the fault of the hotel), it was a very pleasant stay, and I'd absolutely choose a Staybridge suites again for an extended stay

The room is large with small built in kitchen, plenty of table area for setting up laptop and work as well as relax. Enjoyed the complementary dove products in the bathroom. The choice of soft and firm pillows as well as having them marked was wonderful. My only complaint, but personal preference was that the bed was firm. I prefer a pillow top or foam top. Breakfast was good with multiple options w/ service from 6-9pm.
