I would say the decor is very old fashion lounge with there being a mix of table with chairs or chairs paired with a couch. Our server seemed very nice but a bit new as she could not tell me if one of the teas was decaf right away. Also, I made a note that I could not have tuna but they took this as I could not have fish so they gave me two chicken salad sandwiches instead of the salmon even though I had stated on the phone salmon was fine. She also could not describe one of the desserts but overall she was very pleasant. The amuse bouche was - interesting ( a strawberry with cream cheese) I didn't hate or love it. I didn't think the cream cheese added anything tbh. We had one dessert on the table waiting for us before we said down - a English parfait that had a white chocolate mouse, cake, and fruit. I loved it although it was a bit strange to have dessert already sitting at your table before you got your sandwiches but I am a dessert first girl so didn't matter to me other than it was constantly calling my name. You don't get to choose your tea and the two tea options are both black which is a lot of caffeine. The sandwiches themselves come across as unassuming but they are great and very filling. Each one has a different bread which was cool. Although not a fan of cucumber, the bread was milky and so soft. All the sandwiches were fantastic. Honestly, I was so full from the tea and sandwiches, I took the desserts home. One big misstep in service was the server forgetting to serve the second tea. I had to ask for it and by the time we got it, we were tea'ed out. You are gifted a box of macarons at the end - we almost left ours but our server ran and got us in time. I definitely had a great time, there were small incidents that stopped it from being 5 stars. Paying 79 dollars for tea is a bit pricy so I would expect a bit more precision and maybe more choice in tea? read more

We really enjoyed our stay here! The decor is a bit dated as other reviewers note but the staff were five star and eager to please. Valet was great, prompt at retrieving the car, and made sure the charge my Tesla while the car was parked so we left with a full charge. For breakfast, our server was very attentive and thoughtful - he worked with the chef to get my partner an off-menu fresh green juice without any added sugar as he requested and when we planned to split the banana pancakes he brought them out already split on two plates. The porter was very pleasant and gave several recommendations proactively. We were upgraded to a luxe corner room with my Bonvoy Titanium Elite status and it was very spacious. From the harpist strumming soft and relaxing music in the corner to the steaming hot-but-just-the-right-temperature tea, every aspect of the reservation is perfect. Service is impeccable, and it is easy to call ahead of time to reserve seating for a larger group. They are also able to accommodate dietary restrictions if you provide notice. This rating is for afternoon tea at the St Regis. I recently attended a birthday celebration with 15 ladies for tea at the St Regis. It was delightful! The service, attention to detail, and ambiance (a live harpist was playing!) was really great, but most of all the food and company was fantastic! We enjoyed so many yummy little sandwiches and treats, along with a delicious cherry blossom tea and champagne service (to wish the birthday girl a happy birthday!). They accommodated the vegetarians in our group and even had a special package for my niece that included a small teddy bear gift. So many of us were unable to finish eating all our treats, so the staff very kindly brought little boxes and bags for us to take things home, and then added fresh macaroons for each guest as a parting gift. First time staying at a St. Regis. the staff at the front desk is wonderful. The gym is really small. We had breakfast at Remington since we got a Marriott credit for breakfast and the food wasn't so great. The bar is nice to have drinks, though. There are just too many good restaurants nearby and in the Galleria area to eat at the restaurant at the hotel. They do have complimentary coffee and tea in the morning, which was a nice touch. There is also a complimentary car service that will take you within 2 miles of the hotel. We took that to the water wall by Galleria. The room itself was nice. I loved that they had a safe, coffee machine, robe, slippers, umbrella, comfortable bed, and the room we had had a nice view of the city skyline. The hotel was pretty quiet but you can hear the door slam a lot when people leave their rooms. It was nice to have stayed here but will probably check out the JW Marriott that is nearby next time. We came in here on a Monday after a late meeting. The bartending staff were friendly however service was super slow since there were only two of them and they were the ones taking food out to tables as well. Plenty of comfy chairs and bar seating area for large groups. We were a small group 4 people. I ordered the spicy wings and fries. The spicy wings came out with the sauce on the side and were not spicy at all themselves. The wings were super tiny and primarily made a fat... I couldn't really eat the rest of it. The other sauce that came out with the wings was blue cheese based sauce and it smelt and tasted spoilt so I had to put that to the side. I wanted to let the bartender now, but I honestly knew that they were super busy and didn't want to make them go back so I didn't let them know. The fries were overcooked. Breakfast staff are the best! Only bad review I will stay is they need to upgrade and replace the pillows. In town for a girlfriend trip. We stayed for two days for the Dita Von Teese show. Check in was a breeze, we arrived late at night. The valet took a moment to come greet us. Due to the fact that I was an Amex platinum rewards member I expected a room upgrade but it wasn't possible due to the double bed we needed. I appreciated the desk attendant reminding me of all my benefits. Our room was very dark with not much natural lighting. I noticed a stain on my bedsheet right away but didn't think to make a fuss. This was my first experience at a St. Regis. The hotel itself is well maintained yet gives a very mature vibe. A place for the 55+ crowd. Room service was great. We stayed here while in town for our friend's wedding and it was a good hotel overall. The service was excellent and our room was clean, but the bed was very hard and was not comfortable at all. Breakfast at the hotel was just okay (we would have expected better), but our friend's wedding reception was also at the hotel and the food was very good (steak, pasta, green beans, chicken cutlets, etc...), so it was a bit of a mixed bag from the kitchens at the hotel. It's not as nice as other St. Regis hotels, but it was a good place to stay for the wedding. 3.5/5 overall. read more

I had a lovely time at St. Regis' afternoon tea for my birthday and would return again for another special occasion, but probably not anytime soon. All the food and desserts were fresh, and it didn't feel as if the sandwiches were stale or sitting in the fridge for the entire day. Besides that, the sandwiches were decent. They opened the tray for the blueberry scones in the back of the room and I saw the steam rise - definitely a wow moment for me! Clotted cream was good but the jam was slightly disappointing. For the price, I would have hoped for homemade jam, not the mini jars that you often find at hotels. The service was wonderful and attentive, always offering more tea and making sure we had a positive experience. I loved the harpist playing on the side which totally leveled up the vibes. They also sent us off with each a small box of macarons as gifts. We did find the room to be warm for our 3-5pm reservation probably due to the large windows and the 100+ degree weather. They only offered two teas (cherry blossom green tea and their house blend black tea), which was a surprise to me. The cherry blossom green tea was very delicate yet fragrant! Their black tea was good, but nothing special. Keep in mind there is a dress code - smart casual. People will come in their headband hats, like they're going to a royal wedding. Had a lovey high tea experience at the St. Regis. This hotel has a very classy and intimate ambience to it. We booked a Remington high tea for a Sunday. There's two available time of 11am or 3pm. When you arrived, there's complimentary valet parking with your high tea. Just let the valet know later. Feel free to dress classy or sophisticated. It's a great way to have some down time. Exceptional service by the ladies at high tea. We were served two kinds of tea. My favorite out of the two was the jasmine tea. Goes great with some cream and if you want a bit of sweetness then you can add a sugar cube. We were served mini sandwiches, small desserts, and scones. The scones were my favorite with the honey spread and fluffy buttery cream. We also got a taste of their dessert glass with mouse-like texture with fruits. Later on, we received to-go macaroons. We didn't like the setting as the "table" is quite low and the sofa/chair were uncomfortable as they were sunken in. Hubby is 6 ft 4 inches and the seat was just too low. Harpist, Stacy, played a few classical pieces like Bach, Gershwin, etc. Good service from Carmen. Didn't care too much about the finger food like the sandwiches. I was really looking forward to scone with clotted cream but didn't like that. Kinda disappointed that jams were store bought instead of homemade. Desserts (keylime cake, a chocolate and fruit tart) were ok. Had flowery Earl Grey (very aromatic) and Darjeeling Oolong. We faced the exterior where there was a maintenance worker doing his thing. They have a sauna, which is great, but given the cost of everything at the spa, there should be a steam room, too. I was told my bottled water would be waiting after my massage and it was not. I was so thirsty I ended up going to their restaurant and drinking two large glasses of water. When I was checking out, I was kind of hurried out of there. However, as I am caffeine sensitive, I went with the green and then an herbal blend that was tart, floral, and refreshing. The amuse bouche is a piece of cucumber / tomato, and it is small and light. The fingers sandwiches were 4/5 - tasty but not unique in terms of presentation. I liked the scone but would have appreciated if the jam / jelly had been house made instead of in those glass containers. We went for afternoon tea at the hotel. The service was absolutely excellent. The tea butler went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. I was celebrating my birthday. I have food allergies and wrote that on the reservation. They were very accommodating and made some changes to fit my needs. From start to finish it was a great experience. The harp player makes the experience even more warm, welcoming and romantic. My only criticism is that the portions are really too big to be considered finger foods. Sandwiches that take 4-5 big bites to finish, a scone as big as an American muffin. I am not a huge desserts fan, so I didn't eat too much of it. They serve 3 very generous desserts, plus the birthday cake and macaroon's to take home. The tea was delicious. This is a St. Regis in name only. This is really a dying old hotel. The location is the former Ritz Carlton. Now, it is uncrowded and has a "give up" vibe. No butler service unless in a suite. Hey St. Regis, isn't the butler service your thing? Guess not here. Also, everything is old, worn, and run down. The hotel needs a major overhaul. We paid $500 per night. Won't stay here ever again. I got robbed from my hotel room in St Regis Houston. DO NOT STAY HERE. We had 3 rooms for 1 night. 2 of the rooms have missing items. This is not a coincidence. I had my rolex watch and my jewelry bag go missing from my backpack and my friend has his Hermes belt gone missing from his room. This all happened when we left the room to go to dinner. Hotel isn't sharing the camera footage or who badged in to our rooms. This is the most frustrating and invasive accident. VERY INSECURE AND DISTURBING PLACE. This hotel cannot be a St Regis or be a part of Marriot Bonvoy. Horrible horrible horrible. read more

AFTERNOON TEA SERVICE REVIEW I'm totally in agreement with Aimee L that tea service is awesome, and I really enjoyed the experience at the St. Regis. This is only the third time I've experienced a tea service, but this by far was the classiest of them all. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a nice way of enjoying a drink and light bites with a friend. Chronologically, let's go through the process: 1. PARKING: Free valet. 2. ARRIVAL: I think they only take reservations. We were seated immediately on a cozy couch. There are also tables, but since we were a part of 2, this made sense for us. They looked like they could accommodate a larger part of 12. However, the whole parlor might only be able to fit in 20-30 people at most. (Call to confirm this with them.) 3. AMBIANCE: This was everything that you'd expect from a 4-5 star hotel. There was a live harpist who played all my show tune and classical favorites including some contemporary "classical" music from the 2005 Pride and Prejudice soundtrack. 4. SERVICE: I'll admit that I had a hard time understand the accents of the waitstaff, as did my friend. However, it was equivalent to white-glove service. It was fantastic! You get to choose from two teas; they have suggestions for you if you don't want to use your brain. ------TEA (their recommendations)------ :: White Tip Darjeeling :: "The champagne of teas" This one was very light and milde for a black tea. They didn't oversteep this and make it too acidic or bitter. It was pleasant and not overpowering. Then again, I don't think it particularly brought out the taste of the first course (finger sandwiches.) :: St. Regis Blend :: This was made specifically for the St. Regis. I had this with our scone and dessert courses. It was much fuller-bodied as my Yelp friend Lydia might say. It had notes of bergamot and florals. If you don't like Earl Greys but go for a classic English breakfast tea, stay away from this. NOTE: I'm a green tea girl. However, I was not displeased with this black teas they had on hand. ------FOOD------ SANDWICH COURSE :: Smoked salmon. Nice, light, not overpoweringly fishy or cream-cheesey. Interesting and good herb, though I can't place it. :: Red Bell Pepper and Gruyere. FREAKIN' AMAZING! "Pinkies up" amazing. Indubitably. Quite lovely. Quite! :: Olive prosciutto. Hmm. Definitely not my favorite. The prosciutto is the only flavor until you bite into the olive. I'm NOT a fan of olives, and this one killed the sandwich for me. :: Chicken salad sandwich. Surprisingly sweet, but not in a bad way. The sprouts were a nice touch. :: Cucumber. I'm sure most people would start with this one. I suggest ending with it as it's a palette cleanser! (Well, start with it if you have tastes in your mouth before getting your tea on.) It was sweet and refreshingly cool. SCONE COURSE :: Scone with clotted cream, which is like unsweetened whipped cream. It had lovely currants in it and could be enjoyed with a strawberry jam, raspberry jam, or honey. Good, but so filling that I didn't get to dessert at this seating. DESSERT COURSE (I won't review these because I didn't eat them fresh at the sitting.) :: Lemon tart with a browned meringue/whip on top :: Fruit tart :: Opera cake ------TAKEAWAY------ Yes, as Aimee L says, they will give you a to-go box of three small macarons. They will also let you take any food that you couldn't finish at the seating. 5. BATHROOMS: The women's restroom is just outside of the tea lounge and to the left. It is very dim with horrendous overhead lighting that makes you look like a corpse in the mirror and brings out the worst in your complexion issues. Reservations are required for high tea, which takes place Friday-Sunday 3 PM-5 PM. Traditional tea service costs $45/person, while the traditional and beyond tea service costs $55/person. The slight difference between the two is the traditional tea service include an English Trifle Coupe and endless choice of tea room bubbles. Our waiters, Jorge and Gregoria, were so attentive and paid such great attention to detail. I was blown away by the service. Jorge recommended two teas for us during the tea service. We started with the organic green tea and switched to the St. Regis blend once the currant scone was served. High Tea starts off with an amuse-bouche. The signature tea sandwiches include: Cucumber-Watercress with Boursin Cheese Aged Gruyere, Roasted Peppers & Pecans Smoked Salmon with Caper Egg Salad Bresaola Beef & Provolone Chicken Salad with Dried Cranberries There was a difference in opinions when it came to the favorite signature tea sandwich. Cheryl's favorite was the chicken salad, mine was the aged gruyere with roasted pepper and pecans, while the rest of the girls liked the cucumber-watercress sandwich. My favorite item during high tea was the currant scone with Devonshire cream, served warm after the sandwiches were finished. We had the options of adding either strawberry preserves, raspberry preserves, or honey. The hands down favorite was the honey with Devonshire cream. The warm scone just absorbed the honey and cream, so you got some with every bite. The trio of pastries followed the scone. The selection of pastries were fruit tart, lemon meringue tart, and a chocolate cake. The fruit tart was my favorite. By the time we got to the pastries, we were all pretty full. We were each sent home with a gift box of assorted macarons, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was an excellent experience and Cheryl states this has been her favorite high tea experience to date. I would highly recommend this for a group of girlfriends, but be sure to make a reservation in advance. Valet parking is also validated during High Tea, but be sure to tip your valet guys. read more

Went for high tea. The experience overall was fairly positive, but with some major issues in my opinion. First of all, my party booked over a month in advance, but the arrangements they made for us was a bit sloppy. They tried to split up the party between a table and a lounge area. We we're the first party there, so we were baffled. Then they proceeded to allow smaller parties to be seated in areas that could easily have fit us and could have fit comfortably at the table they tried to put us on. When I confronted the manager about this poor lack of planning, she was like hey, I don't control this, I just serve. In the end they shoved a different shaped table between 2 other tables, which made it impossible for us to speak to the other end without yelling. To me, if a party is paying 60+ per person and books over a month in advance...plan better. It was sloppy and felt like they overbooked and crammed us in the back. Now, once we settled in, I was more willing to give them a chance. While the workers did nothing to help our previous situation, their regular service was attentive and polite. The room and atmosphere was very lovely and there was no sense of rush. They offered a recommendation of Darjeeling and St. Regis blend. It was assumed that each person got to choose 2 teas, but it was per party, so unfortunately, I did not get to try my choices. They had a amuse of a cracker seated on butter with cheese and cream cheese and half a raspberry. It was ok. Then they brought out a selection of finger sandwiches. It... wasn't the best quality to be honest. I was most disappointed with the chicken salad, which tasted like a puree if non flavor. It kind of upset me to see how they substituted for dietary restrictions. One person asked for no beef or chicken, so they basically just gave her 3 salmon ones, which she did not eat. They brought out the desserts and placed them down before the scones for some reason, telling us it was so we could view it...? Scones we're pretty delicious, with honey and strawberry jam. the two whipped things? I thought was whipped cream... it was tasteless whipped butter? I personally only liked the chocolate dessert if the trio. My friend raved about the fruit tart, but I wasn't a fan. The caramel topped one, didn't taste bad, but didn't seem a good fit with the filling. The tea service part made it enjoyable. I drank soooo much tea. I preferred the Darjeeling and found the St. Regis blend a bit too fruity, but the servers came often to check on the tea needs. I did not like that they did an auto service charge, but since I planned to give them 20% anyways, it was not a big deal for me. Overall, it was a fun experience, but I felt like it was not worth the money.
