When i first arrived to the hotel. I am the only person in line to speak with the front desk. Mind you I'm a globalist standing in the globalist line, which should give you priority access and i was the only one there. I watched the front desk take 3 other guest before. I then requested water the following day at around 8:30pm when returning for the night. This property refuses to keep any water at the front desk and forces you to wait for housekeeping to bring it up to your room which is a major inconvenience to your guest. Nonetheless, i wait for housekeeping and had to call down 3 separate times to request water because they never showed up.. each time i called it was 1hr later. I needed to take some medication and had to wait until 11:30pm to get a bottle of water. I mentioned this upon check out and they did not seem to care and sent me on my way. 1 person offered me 3,000 points for the front desk issue and the manager emailed me informing me about a 2,000 point addition. This is what they think will rectify my issues... not change policies not train their employees. Just 5,000.. Rooms outdated... construction on the main floor.. nothing to brag about here.. I am a Marriott titanium member and decided to switch this year to Hyatt... Lets just say this is not the first issue i have had with Hyatt read more

Stayed here on our short trip to Houston! The service was great, even though we just stayed here for a day. We chose the Junior suite with King bed which was a big space for our toddler to walk around. We had added breakfast as well with our booking and had a good breakfast buffet at the Cafe at the Lake! They had good options, including scrambled eggs, home style potatoes, pancakes, donuts, yogurt, fruits, bagels, jams, butter, and cream cheese. Also had freshly brewed coffee and orange juice. They were also kind enough to give us fish food to keep our toddler occupied for a little while. Overall it was a good stay! read more

I've stayed at this hotel once a year for over 10 years during the holidays, and I've witnessed a steady decline in quality and service. After my most recent stay, I will not be returning. When I arrived, the hotel was quiet with little to no volume of guests. After settling into my room, I flushed the toilet and huge pockets of air in the pipes caused my room to flood. I called the front desk multiple times with no answer and ended up going down in person. Despite no line, staff didn't seem particularly concerned but did finally call engineering. Meanwhile, my room and belongings were getting soaked. They did move me and comp the room, but the experience was unacceptable. Other family members staying at the same time had no working A/C. Since it was December, they didn't bother complaining, but it was still uncomfortable. We also planned to have dinner at the hotel restaurant at 6:00 PM before an evening event. We sat down only to realize the restaurant wasn't even open. We went to the bar to order food instead, but after 45 minutes, our meals still hadn't arrived so we cancelled it... Overall, this property has completely lost the level of service and upkeep expected of a Hyatt Regency. Unfortunately, I've seen a similar decline at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., another property I've frequented for years. It's clear this hotel needs a complete remodel and a reset in management and operations to meet Hyatt's standards again. read more

This is our second stay at the Hyatt Regency West. Our main reason for staying at this Hyatt is its location. We are headed to Lost Pines and this positions us to miss most of the rush hour traffic in the morning. Being Lifetime Globalists and staying at many Hyatts, it does not match up to many that we stay at. That said, we will stay here again. I've stayed at this property around 5-6 times and can give an honest review based on multiple visits. This Hyatt Regency is an old Omni property, converted about 4-5 years ago. During all my stays, the staff were very professional and friendly. Other reviewers have been right about the hotel lobby, atrium, koi pond, and meeting rooms. The interior decor and maintenance make the hotel seem very upscale, but you'll see outdated furniture, low-tech features, and mismatched lighting fixtures in the rooms and hallways. I've been fortunate enough to have stayed in some of their suites, but even then, I'll still find some lights that don't work old furniture, and a mind-boggling lack of power outlets to charge my devices. On my last visit, I noticed that the desks and bedstands have power strips fixed to the side, which is convenient. However, this location is lacking compared to other updated, modern Hyatt Regency hotels. On a recent visit, a hotel manager mentioned that they were in the process of getting RFPs for an overhaul of the living spaces. The mass renovation project is estimated to begin in 2025. The proposed models looked like the hotel rooms and bathrooms would be brought up to the Hyatt Regency standard. I've never attended events at this resort, but the event staff seems well-trained and professional. I've had the opportunity to observe as a bystander on multiple occasions. The catering staff carefully sets up the area with buffet lines and bars. The areas are kept clean and organized. If you decide to stay here, the 2nd floor is accessible by stairs near the elevator. However, floors 3-5 require one of the three elevators available. When there are many people there, the lines can get long. The benefit is that the elevator's glass windows look out into the atrium and over the koi pond, so there's a nice view. To sum up, the hotel is old, for sure. The hotel rooms leave much to be desired, but the public spaces + meeting rooms are top-notch. The front desk keeps a stash of fish food if you want to feed the koi fish. This is a great, fun, and free activity for kids and adults alike. Although this Hyatt Regency isn't up to par with other Hyatt Regency hotels, I always get the best value out of my dollars spent and loyalty points redeemed. This is why I keep coming back to Hyatt Regency Houston West. read more

Common areas look nice, but that's where it ends. Room was dirty and had hardly any of the amenities you'd expect at a Hyatt and at this price. I've had nicer rooms at Motel 6. There was urine on the bathroom floor and wall, paint was peeling and carpet is stained. On top of that, the front desk staff is untrained. My reservation was made with a company credit card that was to be charged for the room. Upon check-in they requested payment and a deposit. When I pointed out that this should have been placed on the card on file, they required a second card for the deposit and said they'd go ahead and charge the card on file for the room. That was a lie. At check out they charged the entire charge to my personal card, ignoring the card on file. I had to have it reversed and applied to the correct card, but now I have to wait for a refund while my personal bills are scheduled to hit that account, which I only keep enough funds in for my personal bills. Thanks Hyatt.... I'll likely incur NSF fees due to your staff's incompetence. I'd sleep in my car before staying at another Hyatt. read more

Hyatt has been a hotel which I connected quality with and why i booked this for a business trip. Perhaps it's timing or just the Cinderella Pageant, but it was easily one of the worse stays I've encountered at any hotel due to noise.Though I do blame some of the noise due to guest's behavior which is beyond their control, the low rating is for their poor execution of sound control. The wall or very thin and not insulated. The doors aren't sealed for sound and you hear everything. Then add to this kids screaming in the halls ways after 10:30pm, it's not an easy place to rest. I also had the luck of being next to a guest which had a adjoining door with a barking dog. I could even hear their tv which was still on at 2:30am! I didn't bring my Bose headphone for this but it came in handy. The good parts of this hotel was the architecture and cleanliness. The gym was basic but had what I needed. The parking was ample and not too far. Oddly the second floor parking is closed down. The store was very nice and pleasant which had pastries, coffee and snacks. If it wasn't for the property being kept in good shape by the staff, I would have given this a 1 star. The building needs to be updated for sound/noise control. Don't let the Koi pond fool you... Beware - this hotel is not up to the standard of most Hyatt Regency hotels. I stayed here with my husband and two small children - 4 years old & 3 months old at the time. We chose a Hyatt Regency because we've historically had good experiences with this brand. The only positive of this hotel is the nice lobby and Koi pond. The rooms are small and dingy, the pool/hot tub felt unclean, the breakfast buffet is $25 per person for very mediocre food... the list goes on & on. The worst part of the experience was when I encountered a cockroach in the room, on the floor. This was terrifying considering I have a 3 month old in the room as well! When we alerted the manager to this issue, he did not seem surprised at all. This makes me think that we are not the only ones who encountered bugs/insects in the room. They did offer us a complimentary suite for the remaining night of our stay as they could not refund us (due to us booking through a 3rd party website). We took them up on their offer, but I felt uncomfortable and uneasy for the rest of our stay. Please avoid, especially if you have small children! read more

Beautiful hotel with spacious lobby, clean room, and great pricing/point redeem! Rumor has it, this hotel used to be under a different brand and Hyatt has recently taken over. Take advantage of this while you can until they decide to completely renovate the hotel and raise the price/category. By no mean any other Category 1 Hyatt hotels can compare to this one. Even tho the rooms are a bit older and outdated, we were happy with how comfortable the bed is, the big screen TV (probably 65in), and good size room. The parking is free and the hotel conveniently located right off of the hwy for easy access on and off. One thing to beware, there's a mini fridge in the room, but the temperature is set to 55F (you can't lower it yourself). They do have a posted sign on the fridge door to let you know this (also the fact that it's not cold enough to prevent food from going bad). For sure to contact the front desk for a different fridge or see if they can lower the temperature for you if you have food or drinks that need to be kept cold. read more

Tile floors in the bath sparkled. Thick, soft towels and linens on a comfortable bed. But then, we had a plumbing issue. If guests don't report the problem, how can management fix it? Unfortunately, it happened late at night. And first thing in the morning I got a call from a manager apologizing. Next thing I know, we're upgraded to a suite and a night off my stay was credited. That's customer service. This Hyatt has an excellent restaurant. A coffee/snack bar open from 7a-7p. Plenty of parking and access to freeways to get you around in Houston. The staff is friendly. Check in was ez. Oh, and they're pet friendly. Right down to water bowls and a treat jar in the lobby. Seriously, what's not to love? read more

I was able to get an ADA room, but the room was at the end of a very long hallway (not great for elderly without wheelchair) and the beds were super hard because they had removed the box spring in order to lower the height. The experience was amazing and pleasant. The only thing was the market staff was slight rude but still did a great job. There was a party or ceremony held there and the children were very irate and running around by the indoor pond which was very scary. I even exited the elevator and the children zoomed passed me and just about knocked my food out of my hand. I think there needs to be policy for the guest that children cannot run around on the first floor due to harming or falling in the pond. Furthermore, the views were just fantastic the eating area was to the T terrific! Janitorial staff was very rude and non caring to the guest. My family politely asked can the bathroom be cleaned before she was to enter and the staff responded by saying okay wait! We said nothing and just waited until she clean all the tissue in the floors. I give a 5 star because despite the things that happened they can be fixed and properly handled. The other thing that made our visited was the lovely lady at front desk Sunday morning offered food to feed the fish and a blessed morning. I cannot emphasize enough - YOU NEED TO AVOID THIS HOTEL. The list goes on seemingly forever with what is wrong with this hotel. Most notably, your AC unit will buzz louder than the TV, good luck sleeping. The rooms are terrible, I heard stories here about cockroaches in the rooms, they smell, the decor hasn't been thought about since 1992. The AC unit is so loud you won't be able to sleep, the refrigerators are locked at 55 degrees (you need to use the fridge at the front desk lol), housekeeping won't even try to clean until about 3pm, their restaurant has poor service and the food did not taste good, they make you pay for internet, only a handful of tv channels (no streaming service but they encourage you to screen cast from your phone that they make you pay internet for lol). tldr: The rooms are absolutely awful, it feels like a literal motel but they claim it's luxury. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights as we were attending a 3 day cultural Convention in the hotel auditorium. There should be more or less about 150-200 guests attending the Convention booked a room at the hotel. The entrance lobby is beautiful! It makes an excellent first impression! The auditorium is not too large but the size worked in our purpose. Stage is not too large as well, its not even close to meeting the two ends of the walls. Additionally, stage is not sturdy, not good for any dance performance. Also, auditorium accoustics lack clarity. Auditorium looked totally dull and boring. As for the rooms, they are old, screaming in need of renovation. Door locks were not in proper shape, bathroom accessories are old age, carpet floor looked shabby. Bed was fine, which is the most important thing. We could sleep well with no trouble. There's a restaurant inside near the lobby. We went there for breakfast. They were understaffed. We waited for about 20-30 mins and no one came to our table. The lady at the front desk was very nice. She noticed us not being addressed for so long. She came in from her desk, apologized to us for being late and took our orders. Food was okay. Upon check out, had to wait for about 30-40 mins to find a cart to carry our luggage. Despite the nitty gritty, their friendly staff didnot let our spirits down. We were there for a fun event. We enjoyed it. It'd be great if they renovate the rooms and uplift the auditorium. read more

Having a free covered parking garage attached to the hotel made it convenient to enter during the rain. The lobby and common areas are nice and appear to be recently updated. Service at the front desk and restaurant were both very good. As a Hyatt Globalist, I was upgraded for free to a Junior Suite. The room was quiet and clean enough. It's definitely showing age but the bathroom and bed were clean. The bed was quite comfortable as well. Overall, the stay was a good one for a one night stay while passing through town. Total time spent here was a week, and let me tell you, at first glance i was impressed. The koi pond that runs through the lobby was awesome, especially the fact that they let you feed them, and the front desk is more than welcoming by offering fish food to feed them. The Black and Gold bar located in the lobby is very appealing with its quaint shotgun style physique, and the bottle selection is quite impressive for its small size. But the $12 single crown and coke is definitely enough to make you want to visit the local liquor store if you're staying more than a night. I can see that price in a nightclub, but seems like robbery in a hotel bar. The restaurant Cafe by the Lake is a joke of a name, possibly renaming it to Poor Service by the Koi Pond, would give you a better sense of what your in for. My daughter and I went to have breakfast one morning. The restaurant was pretty empty, only 3 tables were occupied at the time. Waited to be seated (well waited for someone to come to the hostess table for about 5 minutes for someone to show up) patently while looking over the paper menu on the hostess desk. We both decided on the buffet, which was a poor choice. To call what they serve as a buffet is definitely a joke, and the side section (which every other hotel offers as a continental breakfast) was definitely something I would not expect to pay extra for. Our waiter once we were seated only came back to check on us to give me the bill. Not once asking if we needed a refill or how the food was. The grab and go market, as I previously commented on started off awesome with the amazing service of Miss Jackie. Then later in the week you get the defiantly below par service of Avelina. Miss Jackie being the A squad, I would rate Avelina is definitely the D squad. She offered to heat up a breakfast burrito they sell, and which I thought she did, but biting into it it's still cold. Never had that happen with Jackie. I asked for a receipt, i was given one that had things I didn't order and was told that their system has been messed up for two months and the manager refuses to fix it. Which is weird cause Jackie never had a problem ringing things up, maybe she's just not properly trained. Also a good majority of the items are not even priced, only the things they make and those aren't even in the system. I was unloading a 50 lb box from my car. There was an unattended one not in use. I began going to my car and presumed guest said it was his with no explanation. He said he would be back within 5 minutes. 15 minutes later he returned and I told him he was a disgrace and his comment was I need to drop his things off. I went to front desk to register complaint and the agent ( would not give his name at first ) said he wouldn't get involved in guest dispute but said he could call police which I agreed with but he said couldn't do it now. His tone was acquisitory, condescending and uninterested then tried to make it my fault. He said just drive around and valet would provide. I went out there and no carts available so informed him and his response was " wait like everyone else". I then carried the box with bulging discs in my neck and am now unable to move. I am progressing legal suit against Hyatt and Masu if that is even his name as I am disabled and your agents actions inflamed my bulging disc and will probably need to go to Urgent Care. If this is the face Hyatt wants to project, I am ready, willing, and able to disseminate this incident and Hyatts complete lack of concern for guests. I contrast Masu unprofessional attitude with the woman that checked us in last night. She was top notch and a complete joy while being the epitome of professionalism. I will never stay at Hyatt again and while that won't have much of an impact, I will use multiple force multipliers available in social media to ensure potential guests recognize their worth and their belief that it is not their place to intervene with guests and any behavior is acceptable. Also some believe ( Masu ) they do not need to identify themselves. If my back is significantly damaged I will hold Hyatt and Masu personally responsible. Regardless I will share this incident with multiple groups who travel extensively more than me so they know how low of a bar Hyatt sets with respect to guests satisfaction, allowing them to injure themselves because basic services are not available. read more

You know how some people clean the surface of things but don't do a deep cleaning? This hotel did a great job decorating the lobby but totally forgot about the rooms. I wanted to drag my mattress to the lobby to sleep because it was so much nicer than the room, but I knew that would have been frowned upon. You go from this amazing lobby, that is very peaceful and has beautiful Koi fish swimming through it, to a very dated room. Very dated. Like 1970's porn dated. Don't ask me how I know that. The bathroom was TINY, and the water coming out of the showerhead was so hard it felt like you were on the receiving end of a felonious assault. No, really, the water literally hurts you because it comes out so hard. If you weight more than 200 pounds you'll have to stand on the side of the toilet so you can close the door because there isn't enough space to walk in and just close the door without you being in the way. Again, don't ask me how I know this. There were also mystery stains on the wall. They have a fake refrigerator in the room that doesn't get anything remotely cool, so I'm not sure why it's even in there. I called about there being no ice on the floor and the machine was never replenished during my stay. This hotel is definitely not up to Hyatt standards but you'll live. The staff was nice, and the man who handles parking was super sweet. I would pass on staying here again. read more

I booked through Groupon for two nights. We gave a credit card for the incidentals, had a good stay, and checked out. We then were charged three separate times for $400. Everytime I called, they transferred me to the billing department where there was no answer. The manager was no help and neither was the front desk. I finally just had to wait for the charges to post to have them disputed through the bank. Still it took about three weeks to get all the money back and we still got no explanation for why we were even charged once let alone three times for a stay that was already paid in full when we got there. read more

We arrived late and were exhausted so it wasn't worth moving rooms after we had already unpacked. Stayed 4 nights 1st night water was pouring out the ceiling in the bathroom flooding it and my room was changed to a 1 step up king. This room was poorly cleaned and the first place you could tell was the bathroom toilet and sink had dirt rings around it. I had to call for blow dryer. The cleaning staff left my room door wide open all day until I returned at 10pm with all my valuables inside just because they emptied the trash cans, no beds were made no clean towels or paper cups were left just a empty garbage can and I could of lost thousands in Jewerly. Thank god no one entered my room to steal anything because there are no cameras to my knowledge on each floor. My sister room had the cleaning staff leave someones old shoe at the end of the bed which means they didn't properly clean or it would have been found. This makes you question we're the sheets even changed because if so the shoe would of been spotted. My aunt room had a disgusting dirty toilet which she took pictures of to post online. My moms room the door handle fell off and she had to wait for a engineer to come and let her out of thank god this happened the night before her flight and not the morning of....You have to wait like 30 minutes with the water running to get any type of hot water for the shower and that seemed to be all the rooms because me and my family members all had the same problem.It just seemed to problem after problem staying in this hotel. I kind of thought we were in the show "Punked" because I couldn't believe some of the problems at a well known hotel. And with all my troubles during my stay I received a complementary breakfast for one day......... Not sure I would recommend this place to anyone else one overpriced free breakfast didn't seem worth all the problems.. when you are in a short vacation family gathering....
