They will not get back with you about quotes or shops and pressure you to sign paperwork instead. It all began when I bought a new car. I called them and asked for a quote of how much it would cost to add my new car to my current insurance policy, as well as for a shop of the carriers they work with to see if they might be able to get me a better deal. They said they'd get back to me. I waited for a week and didn't hear anything, so I called once again. They said that somehow they had the incorrect VIN number and had left me a voicemail to let me know. (I never received a voicemail, and they had conveniently forgotten to write down the phone number they called me at, so there was no way to verify if they called the correct phone number.) I asked, once again, for a quote and a shop. They said they'd send me the paperwork to sign. I said no, I don't want to sign paperwork, I want a quote of how much it would be first before purchasing. They told me it was agency policy that I must first put my vehicle on my current insurance policy before being able to shop other carriers -- in essence, I had to buy insurance to be able to buy insurance, which is silly. In the state of Texas, your current auto insurance coverage is extended to your new vehicle if you're replacing an old vehicle on your policy for 30 days. (I verified this with Travelers insurance. The rep I spoke to at Mike Powell Insurance also admitted this when I pressed her.) I asked again for a quote and a shop, and the rep I was speaking with said she'd have to get Mike's permission to do so without adding my new vehicle to my current policy first (although legally, I was insured for 30 days, which had not yet expired). The rep called me back later and told me that Mike had given special permission for the quote and shop, but he also wanted me to know that it could cause a lot of "hassle" if I were to get pulled over or to be at fault in an accident in the meantime. (Still trying to convince me to sign paperwork, which I wasn't willing to do yet.) I then asked her how quickly they could get me a quote, and she told me it'd take a WEEK. I reminded her that I was on a timeline (30 days, remember?) and I needed the quote as soon as possible. She began to argue with me and I then reminded her that I had been asking for a quote for the past 2 weeks, and asked to receive the quote in the next day or two. She said okay, she'd put a "rush" on the request. Two days expired. On the second day, I called around 4:30pm to check on the status of the quote and spoke with the same rep. She told me that the agent to whom the quote was assigned had gone home for the day, they would come in at 9:00am the next day, and would then give me a call. I never received a call. Three days had now expired. Clearly, I was not going to get a quote any time soon. I called them again, and this time, I requested the paperwork to cancel my insurance. The receptionist who answered asked me why, and I told her that it was because I never received the quote that I had asked for multiple times. "Oh..." she said, "I'm sorry to hear that." She did not try to see if there was a way they could keep me as a client, or ask if Mike could give me a call, or remedy the situation in any way whatsoever. I called a different insurance agency and they got me a quote, as well as shopped with difference insurance carriers to get me the best rate, within 24 hours. I was very disappointed with the quality of customer service I received and strongly advise against using this agency for any sort of insurance needs.

Paul the Farmers agent ( a personal referral) signed me up for an ACV instead of a full replacement policy for my house and lured me with his lower price while he never disclosed the details. When Hurricane Berryl hits and I needed a replacement of my roof, Farmers insurance and paul agency did not pay for my full roof replacement as I was promised instead I was left with a high bill of $17,000. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this dishonest agency and company. I already contacted BBB and they (Farmers) have not even tried to help or assist with their mess up. Next step is seeking legal action.

It took months for them to handle some relatively simple Schedule C and Section 179 depreciation expense. I had all my docs to them by mid-February. They didn't file until April. Then they put the wrong account number for my efile return and this caused it to go into an IRS black hole where I had to file a complaint with my senator, and work with an IRS advocate to finally get my refund in September. Their incompetence lead to me having to wait 8 months and spend enormous amounts of time, energy, and effort to fix their mistakes. I'm sure they'll have some evasive response working responsibility. Now, I know that's not far. But there are times that I like to drive to my agent rather than talking to them on the phone. That 10 mile drive would at times take me over 30 minutes. So I began looking for another agent that was nearby (there literally seem to be State Farm agents on every corner around here). I visited Randy's office several times and was impressed by the time that he spent with me and the answers he provided to questions I had. Based on those encounters, we recently switched all of our policies to Randy for him to handle (multiple auto, homeowners, umbrella and life). Transition was smooth. I've been in to see Randy and his staff several times since he's been our agent. I've also called his office to add a car to our policy, which was done quickly and with little effort. A temporary insurance card for that vehicle was promptly emailed to us so I didn't necessarily have to drive in (although I could have easily). So far, both my husband and I are pleased with the service we've received from Randy. He's close, he's attentive to our needs and every time that I've wanted to talk to Randy personally, he has always been available (either on the phone or in person).
