I once voted this course "Best Value in Jacksonville." Sadly though, with the recent fee increase of $10. $60 w/cart is excessive right now for this place. The conditions definitely don't warrant that kind of jump in price. I appreciate that the cost of improvements isn't cheap, but right now the timing is poor in my opinion. Perhaps I'll return again once the course conditions improve. read more

Sadly this course is not one we will be returning to.. It was $29 to play 9 holes and another $20 for a rider fee. The paths are completely out of maintenance, the greens are terrible and construction on "pro shop" looks like it's been completely abandoned. Save your money and go elsewhere.. read more

Avoid this place! Driving range mentality for an old school Donald Ross designed golf course. Amenities are lacking, been working on clubhouse for years....no soul here, feels like it is all about the transaction, not the customer. So here is what happened: Booked a prepaid tee time for 12:57pm on GolfNow. Course has a cart policy that all carts have to be returned at 5:15pm, not posted on GolfNow, nor was it stated at check-in. It was on a handwritten note on the counter. We arrived to the golf course around 12:10pm no keys for carts for available for about 15 minutes. Nobody could locate the keys, really? The most unprofessional and poorly run golf organization that has been operates out of a tiny trailer that fits about 5 customers. There are no food options before the round or after the round, just a poorly placed food truck near Hole 6. The pace was clearly busy, as you would expect on a Saturday in Florida but here is the kicker with the cart policy. We were backed up because you have a group that is at least 1 1/2 holes behind and do you think the Ranger did anything about it? Nope. Even after the Ranger came out and told us carts had to be in within 45 minutes, do you think they did anything to push that group to pick it up? Nope. A walker and two other riders caused a bunch of groups to not complete 18 holes. Why would Hyde Park allow riders to go out after noon if the Pace of Play is pushing 5 hours? Money, plain and simple. When our group was on the 18th hole, the course turned the sprinkler system on. Talk about the rudest treatment of customers. When I went into the golf shed (not going to call it a Pro Shop because this place is not worthy of the name) to address my concerns I was basically told the policy, and if I didn't like I don't have to play there. The employee would not provide his name, he is apparently the son of the owner and allegedly offered a refund to the group behind us. The kicker is that he allegedly told these gentlemen that they would no longer be allowed on property. One of the guys had been playing there for 40+ years. The culture of the staff is that of a carnival, not a golf shop. The "we just work here" mentality runs deep, do yourself a favor....go play Bent Creek or Eagle Landing. If you want to do 9, go to Brentwood. Whatever you do, do not give your money to Hyde Park. Donald Ross would be rolling over in his grave if he saw the way this golf course operates. The staff is combative, not about the customer or to even listen to a legitimate issue. I asked for the name of the General Manager, the employee refused to provide it. He said all of the information is on the "website". I went to the website, do you think that information is located at https://hydepark.golf? Not at all. Classless and unprofessional, that sums it up. Avoid at all cost, I will take my business elsewhere and so should you!! read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I have NEVER had an enjoyable round here, always overcrowded and the staff is rude as hell. The final straw was when we were legitimately scammed out of a full round. We were charged for a full round and then asked to leave after 9 holes because we were the "only twosome on the course." How is that our problem? We paid for a full round and the course does not close for another hour and a half. Just because you want to leave early you are going to scam us out of a full-price round and not even offer a refund. The jerk in the pro shop even had the audacity to say "You should know the policy that if you are the only twosome out on the course you get cut off." Where else is that a policy? This course is a complete joke. The only thing keeping this dumpster fire open is the nostalgia factor being the "oldest course in Jacksonville." Absolutely never going back. read more

Can't leave less than one star unfortunately. I golf often with my 5 year old who gets out and shoots his approach and putts with us. He enters the greens with us and leaves with us not affecting pace of play whatsoever. I booked a tee time for myself, two others, and my son. When we got to the course, we were informed that there is an age restriction for golfers under 7 years old. Their response was, and I quote, "kids shouldn't be on the golf course." Wow. Certainly not the approach to getting kids into the game that I've seen from other golf courses. Fortunately we were able to book another tee time at a course nearby that doesn't have this asinine rule. My advice to Hyde Park would be to actually display your rules on your website before ruining someone's weekend. The course isn't good enough to have rules like this. read more

The greens need to be redone and there were cigarette butts in my cart. Save your $50 go play somewhere else! This course used to be great because it was cheap. Now its not cheap and just worth it to play somewhere else. I mean seriously you can play stillwater for $64. If the course is dog water, keep the prices low. I cant believe people pay $47 to play here... the tee boxes are sh*t the fairways are sh*t and the greens are sand traps.... The dude that makes the food in the food truck is the only thing id recommend here. read more

Had my first experience here today, the course is decent for the price. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, neither will my friends and I won't be recommending this course to anyone either. I golf weekly and recently I've been trying Jacksonville golf courses to find my favorite - this was my fourth one. We were harassed by the course ranger, he came up to us 3 times within the first 6 holes. The last time asking if I had beer in my cooler, I've never been approached time and time again like that anywhere else. Definitely don't recommend this course - spend your money elsewhere where you can have a stress free guys day!!!! read more

Older course but definitely a challenge. Reasonably priced and good friendly service.

A venerable and historical course laid out by the famous Donald Ross in 1925 on Jacksonville's nearly forgotten North side From the whites 6153 yards with challenging hazards including two very out of place radio towers and their supporting guy wires. Honestly you don't notice them much after a while. The fairways are well kept, the greens are true and played a equally well for the weekend golfer. The sand traps which I managed to avoid entirely were like powder. The clubhouse inside is showing its age and the folks at the bar are a little clickish. They only take cash which was very frustrating both at the bar, the snack bar and on the course. All in all it was fine. read more

Beautiful course for walking! I played the first nine holes and will definitely be back. While there I also visited the driving range which was nice and the balls they gave out were clean. When I was out there it was a Thursday morning/afternoon and I'm shocked there wasn't more people out playing! The pace of the people in front and behind me was perfect for a walker sandwiched between two carts! No one caught up to me somehow and I didn't catch up to no one, I will definitely be back at this wonderful course and I encourage anyone who is undecided to go ahead and give it a visit! read more

Went to play on a Sunday at 330. Checked online before hand and saw nothing but open spots. Went inside and was told that they weren't letting anyone due to being busy that day. Never heard of this at 330 on a Sunday afternoon. I told her that I was a walking member and still received the same answer. Ended up goi g to the practice range for a little while only to see the last group out that was right in front of me now playing as an eight some. Including one of the assistant professionals who works there. Tried to contact them twice without a reply. Cool course with great history, less than average conditions and run like a company who cares not for their patrons. read more

This is a historic course. Unfortunately, that's all it has going for it. The place is a dump, but the employees act like it's Augusta National. I've never been treated more rudely at a golf course in the 45 years that I've been playing golf. Went there to hit some balls on the range. I bought a bag and proceeded to hit them on the range. There is a chipping green next to the driving range and as I was walking over to it, I stopped to pick up a random ball on the range. It was outside of the "hitting area" that was roped off. The range jockey was on me instantly telling me I can't hit from there. It was as if he was just waiting for someone to hit that random ball so he could act all tough. There were probably 150-200 golf balls around the chipping green. I chipped for a while and then picked up about a dozen balls to go hit a few more drivers. The range jockey was instantly back again, asking me "where did you get those balls" like I was stealing them. I did absolutely nothing to be treated this way. I complained to the manager, but all he said was that they had been having problems with people stealing golf balls and barely offered me an apology let alone any reason why I should ever return. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else, somewhere that they appreciate you. read more

Meh. Cheap place to play but the clubhouse doesn't exist due to renovations. The course conditions are pretty terrible. I'm hoping by the workers and maintenance guys all over the course it improves in coming months. Rangers were a bit aggressive in bothering people about coolers and such. Showed up after calling to make a tee time and the pro shop told me I had 40 minutes to play 9 holes.. had I known that I wouldn't have showed up! The ranger followed me around the entire round making comments about hurrying up to get back in time and telling me I shouldn't play any or 5's because there is only 15 minutes left and he wanted to go home. Course is close to me so I try and head here on occasion but having rude employees, bad course conditions, and not even cheap pricing is a lose, lose, lose, combination. read more

This place used to be my go to golf course, but it's gone down hill a bit. I still enjoy playing here and the staff is friendly.

Well manicured and affordable golf. Hogans alley and I feel like I'm on sacred ground there for 25 to 30 bucks.
