Clam chowder kind of night ... It was a great choice . Oh my it was so delicious Usually so picky for a good soup , but yesterday I had chunks of clam and potatoes. Plus it was hot as it was served ..hate a cold soup.nice med plate to be served it looked so classy .. Morgan was our server . Loved her patience as I couldn't make up my mind in my order.. Battered fish with a side of French fries for my hubby.. Loved that the fish was not oily and still so crunchy ... Awful fish fry! It used to be so good! I don't know what changed. The Friday fish fry used to be a big portion and was delicious. It's a small portion and tough. Just not good quality fish anymore. Onion rings were soggy, the roasted vegetables aren't good anymore. Not sure if ownership changed or just the food distributor. read more

Have to say.. I love absolutely everything about this place, but the service. I hate to say that because it's not everyone, but most. The bartenders don't even smile, and basically act like they are better than everyone on the other side of the bar, and honestly not even that great, when you have to sit there and wait ten plus minutes for another beer. It's your typical neighborhood dive bar but with terrible service. It was a busy Wednesday night but they had atleast four servers and two bartenders working. But when a table of four sits down in the middle of the restaurant with 3 servers running around you but never stop to see if you need anything, that's bad service. Have now been sitting in here at this fine establishment what's married for about 30 minutes and still have not received anyone to come and assist me with a drink for an order I walked up to the bar and got my own drink. Picture this: it's 27° outside in the middle of January. My friend and I decide to visit hideout bar. we were two of six people at the bar. we went outside to play pool and ordered two pitchers of beer to go with. this pool table is practically in the parking lot. While we were outside playing in the freezing cold, alone..my friend crossed the street and bought two small pieces of crab Rangoon from the neighboring Chinese restaurant. he brought the tiny paper bag and two rangoon with him to the pool table area. he took a single bite and put the bag down on the floor. within three minutes, the owner of the establishment came outside and says, "I need you guys to leave" . no warning, no consideration of the special circumstance just kicked us out. I understand rules about bringing in outside food but this guy was a total jerk. read more

Been here numerous times to drink and gamble first time I order food. Order boneless wings. Get bone in. And then let her know I ordered boneless and proceeds to tell me "we ran out I thought I told you." Literally spoke to the waitress 1 time while taking my order and when she brought it out to me. The food there was warm when i got it not hot. Also the burger was made wrong, (i found out after i took a bite of my food) told the server and she tried to make it my fault. After she realizes she "pressed the wrong button" then takes my food to go fix the problem with my burger but takes my onion rings that i had no problem with. Then brings me out the same onion rings on a different plate 5 minutes later cold while i waited on my burger. To top it all off when i got my "fixed burger" i was making sure it was made right and realized they gave me the same burger they had made wrong that i took a bite out of and scraped the toppings off to just replace them and send it back out. Great place to watch the game, grab a cold one, and eat some top notch pub food. Tons of TV's and a great sound system. It's tucked in behind some other buildings and not visible from the road, but it's worth the effort to find it and plan a stop in Poplar Grove. read more

I have never had a bad experience at this bar. The owners are as friendly as any bar/restaurant I have ever been to. They have Always been receptive to customer's opinions and attentive to customer complaints. The food is pretty good, for the most part they serve pretty typical bar food. Though I have to admit I have been awful at expanding my horizon and trying new things from their menu. I have been partial to their burgers which are always cooked perfectly, and my wife LOVES their wings. My Biggest complaint is their Beer selection. As I am often referred by my friends as a beer snob, I am partial to craft brews and their draft selection is basically light beers and Guinness. They have recently added A craft beer but it would be awesome to see more variety. So if you are looking for a very clean, friendly environment to enjoy good food and drinks with more than enough tv's to see the game then this place is perfect for you to at least try. I definitely recommend this place if you haven't tried it. read more

Got screwed out of karaoke because three people (including one of the owners) wanted to watch the basketball game on the big screen. Totally inexcusable for an otherwise decent place to go. My friends drive over an hour each way to come here each month and it was a wasted trip. read more

Been here a few times, the last time i was here, after I had ordered a round if expensive drinks me and my two friends took the drinks to the deserted patio to play pool, at that time we started to enjoy a crab ragoon appatizer that I had bought accross the parking lot at Panda Garden (since i HATE all barfood). The bar owner then came out the bar and insisted we had to leave and yelled and swore at us. i didnt even have time to start my first drink, and even after saying I would just go put the crab ragoon in the car so that i could continue to stay and play pool he kept swaring and told us to get out immediately. He did not even offer to refund he drinks that we didnt even touch. The owner should just get a manager because he is unreasonable and is so arrogant and egotistical, he thinks he is king of poplar grove or something. 0 stars, bad food there, and bad service, bad layout of resturant/bar, bad crowd and ambiance. Go to anyother bar but this one. The entire place is clique and nothing like Chubby Rain (the old bar it replaced). The waitstaff is also mean, for no reason. I went to Hideout on a Friday about 2pm for the fish fry. Ordered fried cod. If you want fried cod that is tough and fishy slimy, then this is for you. The last time I was at this location is when it was a family restaurant. I was very let down with quality of a simple dish like fish. It must have been left over from last week, frozen and thawed.
