This is a great little spot with pleasant service, and outstanding food. There's only a few seats maybe 15 to 20, but seems to always be a place to sit as they do a tremendous take out and app delivery business. I had the lentil soup, the lamb biryani and garlic naan. Was craving Indian food and didn't care to drive or pay for overpriced delivery so I decided to try this spot. The location leaves a lot to be desired. That plaza tends to have a lot of displaced individuals outside. It's located in very close proximity to a number of large shelters so the residents tend to hang out in from the Seven Eleven and the restaurant. Location is clean for the most part and the "A" from Dept of Inspection says a lot. I ordered the biriyani rice with chicken, a side of plain naan. The total was about $20 which I found to overly pricey. Got home and was excited to eat. The aroma was everything , perhaps even more than the taste. It was just ok. I recently stayed at the Fairfield Inn at JFK in NYC. There are not many choices within walking distance from the hotel, so I thought I would try the Tandoor Kitchen. It is located between a Liquor Store, 7-Eleven and an Adult Video Store...so I was a little worried about the quality of the food. As I walked in, the place is VERY small. I only saw maybe 3 tables, one of which was occupied by who I guessed was the owner. He didn't bother to speak to me, but (I'm guessing) his teenage son quickly came out to take my order, after I could place it for take-away. They had the order prepared fairly quickly. I got the chicken tikka marsala, which came with white rice. I also ordered 2 pieces of Naan bread for dipping in the sauce. The food was good, not overly spicy or overly spiced, and was packaged in nice, reusable plastic containers. The chicken seemed to be large cubes of white meat chicken, and was very tender and juicy. Overall, I would recommend this place for a quick dinner on the go, as I wouldn't want to try and dine in the place, since the owner likes to watch Indian programming very loudly.. The prices were reasonable, if not a little high. I paid $24, with tax. But it is in NYC and right near JFK, so this is probably average for the area. read more

When you walk in, looks like a take out spot but we were able to sit in the back and dine in. Ordered the samosa, chicken korma, plain naan, and shrimp fried rice. Everything was great. Very tasty. I stayed nearby overnight and was looking for some warm comfort food. I ordered lamb curry and garlic naan to go. I was greeted and a friendly smile, looked at the menu and ordered. The lady in the back also smiled and greeted me. The food was placed in a nice brown bag with handle, containers were sealed and the naan was in a foil bag to keep it warm. Paper plate and utensils were included. The lamb curry was tasty, warm with lots of lamb, gravy and some Veggies. The naan was warm, soft and tasty. I didn't eat much of the rice but it was also warm and cooked perfectly. I was too hungry and sadly forgot to take a picture of the food. It's not a terrible place to go eat Indian food near JFK if you are and Indian who is actually from India. Otherwise, you will definitely find the place icky. Ordered channa masala, naan, veg dumping and a veg salad from Uber Eats. The dumpling seasoning was a little unbalanced (some flavors were strong while other were lost) and no where did the menu say that tofu was included. I hate tofu, it was upsetting to taste once biting into it. Channa should have been cooked a little longer; it wasn't tender, more like quickly cooked rather than slowly. The naan was subpar, it had a very buttery taste and did not meet the craving I was looking to satisfy. Last but not least, the salad had a whole purple onion and half of a white onion chopped up into large chunks. Unless you want onion breath for a week, pass on this. The dressing was mixed in the salad so it came wilted due to the amount of dressing that was placed on it. And some of the Iceberg Lettuce was brown, C+ on freshness. Tip for the owner: Please provide better details in the Uber Eats app. Your choices are very misleading as the food does not come as advertised. Overall, I will not return here for any meals. Two large samosas in one order. Pepper Goat is spicy and saucy (16oz container) and comes with 8 oz rice. Tandoori Chicken came with 2 legs, 1 thigh and 1 breast. One order of naan is 4 pieces, we ordered 2 and had leftovers. I asked for utensils in the delivery app, but they only gave us plates. This is a take out place with some seating. The food is excellent. We are staying in a nearby Marriott and decided to have dinner here. I am glad that we chose this place.
