I have to say I absolutely love that they have tablets as their menus. It soo much easier to make a decision of what you want to eat since every dish has a picture which helps out a lot especially for me who's very indecisive with ordering food! To start off we got the Aloo Gobi Samosa which was good. As for the main dish I got the Chicken Saag Tikka which was very good but had very little chicken inside of it which was really disappointing. It seems like I was just eating a dish filled with sauce and few pieces of chicken inside it. We got one order of garlic and rosemary naan which was already cut up in quarter pieces. The naan came in very useful especially with all that extra sauce I had left from my chicken saag tikka dish. To finish off the night I got the Malai Kulfi ice cream for desert which was super frozen took some struggle to break off the pieces without making a mess. Overall this place is a nice quiet spot for dinner not to mention the TV above the door had plenty of Indian music videos on the whole time we were there. I'm thrilled to say Tikka did not disappoint because I'm always on the fence when it comes to trying new places. The chicken chop with lemon rice was very good! I love potato dishes so I had to try the "Aloo Dom" (Potatoes stuffed with cheese and chaat) with a hint of curry..delicious! I order take out from here a lot. I really like the chicken or paneer Tikka masala and saag paneer. However, sometimes the tastes are not always the same, may need more salt or something, but still good. The garlic Naan and samosas are really good too and my favorites The place is cute and they have outdoor seating, plus it's BYOB. The servers there are pretty friendly from what I've experienced. They down one star only because they are a bit expensive in my opinion for the portions they give for the entrees. read more

I ordered delivery and it could be the chef changed but the food was definitely not up to par. The daal was watery (used to be thick and delicious) and the curry sauce was broken and oily. This was such a shame since their curry sauce was so delicious and dippable with the naan. Now I don't want to dip into a puddle of oil. Even the naan was weird and lumpy, but still soft and chewy. The only things that tasted the same (good) was the samosa and the green sauce. I hope this was a fluke and the next time I order, the food will be back to being amazing. I love this place for the vegetarian and vegan options! I'm a pescatarian now, but sometimes I miss the flavors of the meat dishes I used to eat. The impossible curry options are perfect whenever I get a craving. The dishes are so yum (especially with the rice and little fix ins). I like to get some naan to finish off the curry. Nothing gets wasted cause it's so good! The portion for these are huge so it can easily feed 2 or make 2 meals. The staff at this location are very attentive, kind and warm. My fiancé and I frequent this place, and it holds quite a few milestones in our relationship. Tikka is a low key smaller sized Indian restaurant, and it's perfect for an intimate meal with loved ones. I truly love their chicken biryani, and it's become my go to order whenever we go. We love this place so much that my fiancé decided to propose here! There was a lot of confusion when he was planning, and he was told that he couldn't do a proposal there by someone who worked at the restaurant. He got in touch with the owner who profusely apologized and said that they'd love for us to have a special moment there. We ate and dined like no tomorrow, and I made sure to get my biryani to go. The three stars is because there's simply zero hospitality. I came in and wasn't greeted by anyone or asked if I wanted to place an order. I placed the order through Grubhub which said the delivery time would be 45-60 mins. I received the food in 40 mins. I was surprised that the food arrived early as opposed to late. The restaurant is not that far for me but considering the food takes time to make I was delighted when the delivery guy rang my bell early. He was really sweet and he handed me my food. The food was superb. The lamb biryani was flavorful and the lamb chunks were tender. Each scoop of rice contained a nice chunk of lamb. The rice to lamb ratio was perfect. The garlic naan was bomb. Tried Chicken Biryani for the first time today. Tasted very heavy of spices and herbs. Too much matter of fact. In my opinion, herbs and spices are supposed to add a kick or be a complementary side.It felt like I was just eating herbs not chicken or savory rice. The biryani tasted just of spices and herbs. The Garlic Naan bread size and texture was great but again it tasted so strongly of herb to the point where it was bitter and too much. I ordered a shrimp mughlai biriyani with a couple of other dishes. It STUNK up my fridge for weeks!!! I don't know what food ingredient is in it, but even after throwing it out, EVERYTHING smelled like it. I took some eggs and made scrambled eggs, smelled like the biriyani. My cornbread, other meats, EVERYTHING smelled like it. Whatever flavoring or smell added to this dish, I'd seriously ask this restaurant TO STOP USING IT. Let me be extremely fair! So my first experience wasn't the best. I would say you better be extremely certain of what's in each dish as to avoid the AWFUL experience I had. I ordered the Tikka Masala which is like the pad Thai of Thai food lol so you seriously can't go wrong but it's not that special either. The sauce was a nice consistency, although it could've been seasoned much more aggressively to avoid the overload of what almost tasted like creamed plain tomato sauce to be honest. It wasn't the best but it wasn't awful. It was okay. The second dish I ordered was the Kadai chicken and this is where all hell broke loose! Upon first taste, this should be one of the stars of their menu. Delicious peppers and onions if I'm recalling right, with the chicken all harmoniously sautéed and seasoned together. Ugh. So good. HOWEVER! I mistook a "green vegetable" for a vegetable, and in all reality it was a damn hot pepper! Pretty damn hot at that because my mouth was set a blaze and whatever it's juices touched made it freakishly hot! I had to remake my plate and everything was wonderful from that point on. The basmati rice was also cooked to perfection and I made my own seasoned green beans at home. An overall great dinner! Just remember when ordering the Kadai chicken, it's not a vegetable! It's a hot pepper! The dessert I ordered was called Kheer which is basically an Indian version of rice pudding and it was STUNNING! Omg! So good! It makes cozy shack rice pudding taste like dirt in comparison! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant! The Tikka Masala was nothing to write home about, but it was more than made up for with the absolutely delicious Kadai chicken, basmati rice and Kheer. The mango lassi was smooth and delicious fit perfectly to cool down the heat from the spices from the chicken and rice. I really enjoyed the meal and will come back. Tikka Indian Grill is a great spot in Kew Gardens to get Indian food, especially during COVID. There's a beautiful outdoor dining area set up and the restaurant does a great job distancing everyone. It's located on Metropolitan Avenue so street parking can be difficult to find. Also, it's BYOB! My friends and I weren't sure what to get and the waitress was patient and made some great recommendations. We loved everything she recommended. We ordered the Samosa Chaat, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Korma, and Paneer Saag to share between three people and we were all so full. Everything was very flavorful and the meats were so tender. To echo some earlier reviews, the outdoor seating here was excellent. They had dedicated patio seating along the side of the building, so there were many tables and they were mostly socially distant. The patio furniture was nice as well, made of heavy iron and seemed very clean. Nice string lighting and torches along the side made for very excellent ambiance. The food and presentation were also superb. Basmati rice accompanied every entree, and the extra garlic naan we ordered was fresh and tasty. The menus were on ipads, which I hope were cleaned between tables...I did not see any prior finger smudges to the contrary. Now those chicken chops where EVERYTHING!!! OMG I was kinda mad I didn't order them but I can promise you when I go back and I will, I will order that first thing! The BP chicken as good and very spicy. I mean you have to like spicy...I was sweating so maybe have them adjust the spice if you are a light weight. Of course I checked in on Yelp and got a free dessert which was the rice pudding. I love rice pudding so o gobbled that up. My bad that I didn't take more pics. It's seems that the patrons who have given this place 5 stars may have never tasted authentic Indian food! The decor should get 4 stars, very clean. The wait staff very disinterested, Sat night when one would expect a crowd, it was just the two of us and yet the food took a while to be served. It seems like this place is a souped up delivery place with a high dollar amount, serving very small quantity for a high price. We ordered small plate of Chicken Tikka, it was not as moist as it can be because the pieces were cut very small.. 9$ for 5 small pieces a bit of a rip off Next was Mughali Shrimp Biryani.. what can I say, it is shrimp Pulao at the best. Please don't name your dish something it's not!! Like I said earlier food made here will never appeal to a shudh desi (pure Indian) taste buds, where every spice, hits a sensory nerve, sadly here it did not. And the worst part is a good Biryani is served with Side of Spicy Salan (Chillies in Cashew Curry) and Raita, it's a staple. Tikka charges 4$ for Raita!!!! Really?? Not one thing tasted good and everything lacked any flavor you would expect at an Indian restaurant. The chicken tikka masala tasted like tomato sauce from a can with no spices added, not even salt. The lamb Josh Rogan did not taste like lamb and the sauce was mostly onions with no taste. The naan was chewy, and the samosas tasted old with no flavor except old oil they were fried in. I have had better tasting frozen TV dinner Indian food bought at the supermarket than this actual restaurant. The portion sizes were also tiny, which is fine, since I only ate a few bites before throwing the rest in the garbage, the same place as my money with this food.
