    Indian take out night
    Win C.

This is one of our usual Indian take out spots. Hubby loves their biryani rice and I love their chicken tikka Marsala with garlic naan bread. They use a lot of spices and the food is usually very well prepared.

I ordered delivery and it could be the chef changed but the food was definitely not up to par. The daal was watery (used to be thick and delicious) and the curry sauce was broken and oily. This was such a shame since their curry sauce was so delicious and dippable with the naan. Now I don't want to dip into a puddle of oil. Even the naan was weird and lumpy, but still soft and chewy. The only things that tasted the same (good) was the samosa and the green sauce. I hope this was a fluke and the next time I order, the food will be back to being amazing. If not, I will be looking for another go-to Indian restaurant.

Impossible Tikka Masala (Vegetarian) - so good I'm obsessed

I love this place for the vegetarian and vegan options! I'm a pescatarian now, but sometimes I miss the flavors of the meat dishes I used to eat. The impossible curry options are perfect whenever I get a craving. The dishes are so yum (especially with the rice and little fix ins). I like to get some naan to finish off the curry. Nothing gets wasted cause it's so good! The portion for these are huge so it can easily feed 2 or make 2 meals. The staff at this location are very attentive, kind and warm. If the prices weren't so steep I'd eat here more often, but I do come here at least once a month for a little splurge/treat :)

Ordered to go because I hadn't eaten and I was not impressed. I ordered the stuffed naan and it was more of a sprinkle than a stuffing. The flavor was good for both the naan and chicken but that's about it. I'm hoping the next time I go I would be more impressed. SB: they have a bunch of vegan options which is good

Came here as a beginner trying Indian food.. definitely very flavorful. Small spot and it was almost closing time so I got a table right away. I hear they have movie nights which I could see being fun. The chicken tikka masala was yummy. Good first spot to try if you're trying to venture out.

Great neighborhood spot for authentic Indian dishes. We had samosas and vegetable pakora to start. We ordered chicken tikka masala, Lamb Kadai Mirchiwala and chicken chops. We also had the garlic naan and poori. Everything was fresh and delicious. Good sized portions with rice. The side condiments and sauces were delicious too. Service was friendly and efficient!

My fiancé and I frequent this place, and it holds quite a few milestones in our relationship. Tikka is a low key smaller sized Indian restaurant, and it's perfect for an intimate meal with loved ones. I truly love their chicken biryani, and it's become my go to order whenever we go. We love this place so much that my fiancé decided to propose here! There was a lot of confusion when he was planning, and he was told that he couldn't do a proposal there by someone who worked at the restaurant. He got in touch with the owner who profusely apologized and said that they'd love for us to have a special moment there. We ate and dined like no tomorrow, and I made sure to get my biryani to go. For the proposal, the staff were hopeless romantics. They picked the perfect song and worked with my fiancé, my sister, and my sisters boyfriend so we could get our special moment captured. Thank you all for your help and coordination! We appreciate you & we'll be back soon PS - parking is tough, so wear comfortable shoes when going, and on those hot summer days, they have outdoor dining, so take advantage of it!

The three stars is because there's simply zero hospitality. I came in and wasn't greeted by anyone or asked if I wanted to place an order. I asked a waitress if I could order food to go and she nodded. I walked to the register and I just felt a weird vibe as if I wasn't wanted. I told the host I never had Indian food before and he gave me a blank stare. I reluctantly ordered because I drove all the way there and was starving. I ordered chicken chop which is spiced chicken and lemon rice. The rice was a little too lemony for me but the chicken is good minus the burnt ends.

In the search of biryani and reading multiple reviews I decided to give Tikka Indian Grill a try. I wanted to try a different biryani other than chicken. We both decided to order the Lamb Biryani along with Garlic Naan. I already had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Coconut & Mango Chicken Meatballs and wanted some sides to set off our Sunday Dinner menu. I placed the order through Grubhub which said the delivery time would be 45-60 mins. I received the food in 40 mins. I was surprised that the food arrived early as opposed to late. The restaurant is not that far for me but considering the food takes time to make I was delighted when the delivery guy rang my bell early. He was really sweet and he handed me my food. The food was superb. The lamb biryani was flavorful and the lamb chunks were tender. Each scoop of rice contained a nice chunk of lamb. The rice to lamb ratio was perfect. The garlic naan was bomb. You can actually see the silvers of garlic on the bread. It was simply delightful.

Pros: seated quickly, ambiance was lovely, appetizers came out quickly, the Lasuni Gobi was delicious. CONS: My husband and I waited 40+ minutes for our main dishes (dal + rice and the Paneer Tikka dish) to arrive....... And we watched the people who were seated AFTER us receive their MEAT dishes before we got our ours and we most definitely ordered first. We asked our server MORE THAN ONCE what was taking so long and we got the same answer each time "I've told the kitchen to hurry, it'll be out soon" To make matters worse, the person who brought us our dishes (maybe the chef? Maybe the manager?) brought them without the naan that we ordered. When I asked, "where's our naan?" He had the audacity to rudely say "it'll be out in a few minutes", as if we hadn't already been waiting 40+ minutes for vegetarian food that I could've whipped up myself in 20 minutes. His attitude towards us was so unacceptable considering the circumstances. We have absolutely no idea what happened or why it took so long for our simple dishes to arrive. It's especially perplexing considering that the people who came in AFTER us got their meat dishes first. The server apologized and decided to bring us some kulfi (ice cream) to try to make up for it, but we try to avoid eating sugar so that was useless. I felt bad for the server because it wasn't his fault that our food took a ridiculous amount of time to make it to our table, and it's not cool that a manager never stepped in to try to reconcile. As someone who waited tables for 8+ years, I was shocked at the lack of support this server received from his management team. The dal and paneer tikka dishes were average tasting at best (and overpriced), making another trip here completely unfathomable, most especially considering how we were treated. Note to management: do better. Support your staff and step in to reconcile with unhappy guests if this happens again.

The Malabar chicken was calling my name because of the black pepper, and OMG it did not disappoint!!! It was SO tasty!! It's a dry chicken dish instead of the usual curry/gravy. I was actually a little confused because I saw the Malabar chicken on Seamless but couldn't find it on ChowNow/Toast, so I wasn't even sure if it was available. I'm SO glad I got it and really hope they keep it on the menu because I would 100% order it again! I also tried the dal with green mango and the tamarind rice from the South Indian menu, and both were delicious. The tamarind rice especially has so many different flavors going on and is so good! It honestly felt like the chef or recipe may have changed because the butter chicken tasted completely different from what we were used to. That said, the chicken vindaloo was still delicious, and both the roti and naan were just as good as before. The staff has always been friendly, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The Food The cooking…read morehere is the real thing -- not the flattened, one-note version of Indian food that so many places settle for, where everything arrives tasting vaguely of the same sauce. At Tikka n' Talk, the spicing has genuine architecture. Each dish has its own personality, its own balance, its own arc from first bite to last. You taste individual spices rather than a generic wall of heat, and there's a depth underneath that only comes from someone who actually knows what they're doing. The tikka is outstanding and lives up to the name -- properly charred at the edges, smoky from real high-heat cooking, and still tender inside. That combination is harder to pull off than it looks, and getting it right every time takes skill. The curries have body and complexity. Sauces that have clearly been built rather than assembled, with layers that reveal themselves as you eat. Nothing is greasy, nothing is heavy in the bad way, and nothing tastes like it came out of a can. The bread deserves its own mention. Fresh, blistered, warm -- the kind you keep tearing off pieces of long after you're full. The Room and the Service The name isn't accidental. This is a place designed for lingering, and the atmosphere delivers on it. Warm, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming without being fussy. It's the kind of room where conversation flows easily, where you settle in without noticing an hour has passed. The staff are a huge part of that. Warm, attentive without hovering, and clearly happy you came. They know the menu cold and will steer you well if you ask -- including on spice levels, which they'll actually calibrate to what you want rather than defaulting to whatever's easiest. That kind of care shows up everywhere in the experience. Food comes out hot, timed well, and exactly as ordered. Basic things, but plenty of places fail at them. The Bottom Line Tikka n' Talk is the rare restaurant that's excellent on every axis at once -- the cooking is skilled, the room is inviting, and the people running it obviously care. It's become a regular for us, and I recommend it without hesitation to anyone who asks where to eat. If you haven't been, go. Order more than you think you need. Stay a while -- the name is an instruction, and it's good advice. Highest possible recommendation.

Taking over for another desi-owned spot (#1) several years ago, they've done a much better job of capturing an audience by focusing on a niche of Goan inspired foods, along with a slew of classic Indian dishes that span from north to south. The interior is modest and quaint, and a one bright / memorable outdoor setup during the pandemic. The restaurant is not big, but they've managed to cram in a good number of tables to make it place for 30 folks. Takeout and delivery are also very popular, and I've been fortunate to have had all of the above. Some immediate standouts: goan fish curry, xacuti curry, and the caldeen curry are quite excellent and all come from the Indo-Portuguese side of the menu, which are all loaded with flavor. Additionally, the tandoori selection (especially the chicken malai, seekh kebab, and methi salmon) and variety of curries (rogan josh, korma, jalfrezi, makhani, etc.) are also very flavorful. As with many other Indian places, especially ones that cater to the southern palate, there is an excellent vegetarian selection. The saag chana is one of my go-tos, but the peeli dal, bhindi masala, gobi manchurian over their lemon or tomato rice all merit a big thumbs up. Ownership has likely changed since their initial start, which explains why the staff and "family owned" management has all gotten different looks before and after the pandemic. The other major issue has been pricing, which definitely feels premium at $21-23, for portions that sometimes feels like the size of a hockey puck. The product is still good and the pickins in Sunnyside (#2) are slim, so I realize that for some people, this is the only (Indian) game in town. ___________ (#1) Biriyani House: https://www.yelp.com/biz/biriyani-house-sunnyside (#2) Unless of course, we're counting all the Nepalese spots that also serve Indian cuisine.
