My husband and I go to Saratoga Springs to relax and shop frequently. My husband has always looked…read moreforward to browsing in the Saratoga Saddlery. However, when we were there in April, 2024, he got bitten by a dog. The clerk and her friend paid no attention and made no effort to control the dog. My husband became upset and they threw him out of the store! When my husband came back to our hotel room, he was clearly shaken by how he had been treated. The dog bit right through his pants and into his leg. We didn't know any urgent care centers in the area, so went to CVS. The pharmacist told us if we didn't go to urgent care, we needed to put a lot of antibiotic ointment on the wound, bandage it and be very watchful about infection. We did not enjoy those days and don't think of Saratoga Springs as fun anymore. I emailed the store about the incident and got no reply. No apology, nothing. All the stores and restaurants in Saratoga Springs will miss us.

"The Track" as it is known by the locals, is only open for 40 days, from mid-July through early September, and the most famous race at the track is the Travers held the last weekend in August. Locals and tourists flock to The Track during these six weeks of Summer to socialize with their friends, and to watch the thoroughbreds run the 1 and 1/8th mile dirt track. Films such as "Seabiscuit," "Saratoga," "The Horse Whisperer," "Billy Bathgate," "Ghost Story," and "My Old Man", as well as a scene in Ian Fleming's James Bond novel, "Diamonds are Forever," were all filmed at the Saratoga track. It should come as no surprise that the locals are very proud to support their track, and to wear official logo'd merchandise to support the horse racing lifestyle. That's where "Embrace The Race" enters the picture. Mike DeAnzeris and his team have created the official logo for Saratoga, and they sell branded apparel and merchandise in their store on Circular Street, just off of Broadway. The storefront has quite the collection of polo shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, ties, drinking glasses, and umbrellas to help you express your passion for horse racing, and your support of the Saratoga Springs horse racing community. I told him I was told they were open till 6pm, and the gentleman was great. He said he did have somewhere to be by 3:45, but would measure all the men up for us. We were in and out within a half hour. They weren't rushy, rude or pushy. And when they could of turned us away, they didn't. I am truly pleased. And the prices are very fair. The new checkout system is nice with the self-checkout options splitting off from those needing assistance, but it takes every opportunity to throw an impulse purchase in your face as well, like the checkout lines at TJMaxx or HomeGoods does. This store has a fairly large footprint so there is a good variety to pick from, but it's a touch unorganized, especially as they try to sell through their winter and Christmas items while still trying to put Valentine's Day and new fashion out on the floors. The deals can be good, especially with the Kohl's cash opportunities.

I have had good luck at ths particular Kohl's. They have very large men's and travel departments. I got a great deal on luggage here a few years ago. The dressing rooms are a little awkward though - they are in the center of the store, with doors on either side, so it's essentially a unisex dressing room. Everything else about this store reflect's Kohl's consistency - clean rest rooms, bargain racks, good sales.
