I love ice cream. More so than any other sweets. I concluded that. I mean, I love sweets in general but ice cream is a guilty pleasure. I like it much better than any other frozen dessert. I'm a sucker for some "regular" flavors at time and well known ice cream chains too for availability. I mean, not all flavors I want are available at the grocery store either. Most Haagen Dazs shops are in the malls but I hardly go to the mall anymore. Because it was next to Schlotzsky's and in walking distance from work, I was excited. It was a beautiful, hot day and I just wanted me some ice cream. Walking in, I felt it was modern yet homey. The lady up front was super helpful and cheerful. I sampled a couple of flavors and decided to get two flavors - mint chocolate chip & dulce de leche - in a sundae version with some waffle chips and whipped cream on top. I was checking out the ice cream cakes because the thought crossed my mind about purchasing one for Father's Day next week. The lady up front told me that interesting enough, she gets more cake requests for Father's Day than Mother's Day haha. I also just gave my phone number for the Rewards card to rack up points. They're open later (30 minutes) each night: Sunday through Thursdays until 10pm and Fridays and Saturdays until 11pm. Boo, Pinkberry, for their earlier closing times. Haagen-Dazs' ice creams are always so creamy, rich, and decadent. Regular size cups of H-D ice cream at this location start at $4.85 and work their way up. My favorite H-D flavor is, hands-down, pralines & cream. Pralines & cream is made up of vanilla ice cream with praline pecans and thick swirls of gooey caramel. I walk in and order ice cream and pay for it.. then we sit down. My daughter asked to use the bathroom. I ask one of the workers to use the restroom, they don't have a restroom!! Where can we go? They didn't have anything I wanted. Even though the posters inside advertised, "Banana Rum Jam", "Midnight cookies and cream" and "Chocolate caramelized oat", the server said they'd discontinued each flavor. It was actually kind of funny because I asked for them one by one and each time he'd say, "oh no, sorry we don't have that. " The inside of the store looks very dated and dreary or maybe that was just my impression since the outside of the store is undergoing MAJOR reconstruction and it looks pretty rough. In fact, we almost couldn't find Haagen Dazs due to the outside being completely draped in construction. Nah, I think the inside could use some updating too. And the icecream in the bins looked...stale? So did the toppings. After they didn't have any of the flavors I wanted, I ended up choosing two scoops of cookies and cream and calling it a day. My friend and I met here on Sunday evening because Pinkberry was crowded with no place to sit. There were two gentleman working. One employee and someone who appeared to be the owner. I asked the employee if they had wifi, he replied "no, but we could use Schlotzky's free wifi." Guess what else they did not have?...a public restroom. Even Pinkberry has a public restroom. If needed, I suppose we could've gone next door to use the bathroom as well. While we were deciding what to order, the owner took over. We asked for a couple of 1/4 teaspoon size samples before making a final selection. The owner appeared annoyed although I tried two samples and purchased one of the two I sampled. I guess it was an inconvenience. I gave it two stars because of the service. I ended up ordering a medium salted caramel truffle ice cream in a cup. It was delicious! I'll buy it again, but from the mall! All of the outside tables were extremely dirty. We had to sit on the bench. I will not be returning to this establishment ever again. read more

Yes, I do love ice cream. Haagen-Dazs does serve good ice cream. Why am I giving it only 3 stars then? I don't know. My first reason could be because of the boring flavors. Maybe Morelli's influenced me a lot with their crazy flavors. I just walked into Haagen-Dazs, saw the flavors, and get bored. It could be because I'm sick of ice cream. I eat ice cream almost every day. And all good things get ordinary after a while. Sure Haagen-Daz makes decent ice cream. But I think it needs to be super special if I want to love it. Maybe I'm too spoiled by frozen yogurt and gelatos. Besides ice cream, I eat a lot of other desserts like gelatos and froyo. They are just different. Gelatos are heavenly and froyos are light and refreshing. I guess ice cream just falls in the middle. Also, they don't have public bathrooms. That is a bit of an inconvenience. So just be mindful of that if you ever decide if you should go pee first before going to Haagen-Dazs. One benefit of this place, like what Charisse mentioned, is that they're open late. So if Pinkberry across the street is closed, this is a decent alternative. read more

It's my favorite brand over Mayfield, Breyers, Ben & Jerrys, etc. I've also been eating their ice creams all my life because my mom loves them so it's a personal comfort food choice. Anyway, we stopped in for a quick little treat. A couple of patrons were enjoying some ice cream and there was one younger guy behind the counter. They have a really good selection here - plenty of ice cream flavors, shakes, frozen yogurts and a couple of sorbets. I settled on a scoop of pralines and cream in a small cone and my husband got a cookies and cream shake. Deeeelicious. And pricey! It was a little over nine dollars for just those two things. So I made sure to enjoy and savor my expensive ice cream come - and I did. My husband asked at one point if I was okay ;-) The guy behind the counter was patient and friendly enough. The man working at the ice cream bar was extremely rude, he yelled and snarked at me when I tried to explain what/how I want my ice cream. And all he kept yelling is "we don't do it that way". He clearly didnt understand what I was asking for and when I turned to talk to his coworker he yelled at her to not listen to me. His customer service was below acceptable and it seemed like I was asking for free ice cream from him. Shall I say I love HD ice cream. Pure, and 100% natural. And Gluten free. I have tried all kinds of ice creams -breyers, talenti, blue bell, cold stone, etc...but none are a creamy and true real flavor. and doesn't make me sick. If you have to eat calories (which are plenty in HD) eat the best stuff not the corn fructose, cornstarch junk. The employees are nice and though slow to get all orders do the job right. My wife and I drive 40mins just to get the tasty mango and raspberry sorbet sippers they are truly to die for. Yesterday my wife and I had an extended conversation with the owner, he shared that his second location was located at Sun Trust Park the Atlanta Braves new home. His professional demeanor is always genuine, courteous, and coupled with humility.
