We always order cakes from here for our birthday celebrations but this last time, they completely failed to make our ten year old's cake. They did not apologize, they offered a completely different pre-made cake but not additional pints ie. in the flavor she requested. We had already paid for the cake and they asked to see the receipt (which they had) and we showed them everything but they acted as if it was somehow our fault. We are furious. When you mess up, at least apologize and offer to make up for it, not offer a terribly subpar substitute when we did everything right, ordered over a week ahead of time, paid up front, etc. Sadly, we will unlikely return. read more

Häägen-Dazs is my favorite ice cream (after Jenis), but this shop was kind of subpar. It's super tiny and if there's anything more than 3 people on line, you're in the way of the door. It's a pretty standard shop with the same flavors and menu as every other HD. It was a little sticky on the counter areas and the glass on the case and floor didn't look like they were being deep cleaned. There was a $1 off with Yelp check-in and the cashiers seemed to have trouble applying it since there's not a scannable code in app. I honestly thought it was gonna be a "There's nothing we can do" situation but after a couple minutes, they just said fuck it and ended up applying a different offer for $2 off, which I appreciated. If you live in the area, I could see going here, but it's certainly not a location I'd trek to. read more

I don't often go to Haagan Daz, but this is the place I come to with a friend whenever we have dinner in the area I was here about a week ago Thursday to cash in on my birthday treat - the idea of ice cream helped take the sting out of aging as well as the sweet ladies who worked behind the counter! Raymond was helping us out and even though we were indecisive, he was nice and patient. Need to shout-out Kimani and Jamirah who were so sweet and their energy made me smile because it's great to have fun at work :) They heard it was my birthday and made it a point to wish me a happy birthday! Me and my fiancé randomly decided to stop by to get some ice cream since it was a beautiful day out. I was excited to find that once I checked in on yelp I received an offer of $1 off any ice cream or smoothie. I wanted to take advantage of this deal so during the checkout I showed the cashier my Yelp check in offer, and she looked at it as if I had made this up or something, and said we don't accept this type of offer.......but it's ON YOUR YELP PAGE. So I have been coming to this location for over 20 years. I get a little worried when I see new faces behind the counter. Long story short I wasn't happy with my order, I went to the person that did it and they told me to speak to there manager. "Akira" the manager, she was quick to access the situation. She was fast, assertive and handled it in true managerial form. Let's just say I'm glade to see the store is left in good hands when the owners are not around. It would have been terrible if she wasn't there because the person that handled my order wasn't compliant. A+ to the person that hired her and D- to the worker that needs to work on his skills. Everything I expected it to be. You can't go wrong with the ice cream here. Rocky road is and will always be my favorite and they got a really good Rocky road. Totally worth the calories. We tried this location using the platform Too Good To Go, which is a great app intended to help its users reduce food waste and to help businesses make some money from food that would otherwise go to waste. This location is clearly scamming that platform. We paid $6 for a Too Good To Go box that is supposed to contain $18 worth of food and received ONE ice cream bar. This is completely ridiculous and it's clear that the management are just using Too Good To Go to milk as much profit as possible. Such shady practices. Never again. Nothing makes one happier than ice cream. The manager Sitara is by far the best manager I have ever dealt with and made what could have been a poor experience the best I have ever had. The door closer at the entrance have too much pressure, to get out another customer had to help me pull the door open. The line of customers waiting go all the way to the door when is busy, so one have to be careful opening and closing the door to not hit a waiting customer by the door. PRICE: $15 for TWO milkshakes!!! HAAGEN DAZS WHY YOU BUGGIN' MY GUY!!!!! Ok but seriously, my husband and I can't control ourselves when it comes to dessert. I love the quality of there ice-cream as it is one of my favorites~! The chocolate peanut butter sundae is to die for, and I highly recommend it! Parking can be difficult due to the location but they are pretty quick and efficient at expediting orders. The place looks old on the inside and not-modern but its does not take away from the deliciousness of the icecream. Definitely skip this place and go buy a pint at Key Food or your local bodega instead. Often Key Food has a 2, or even 3 for $5 deal (just make sure your flavors are listed, they get tricky sometimes). Why pay almost $5 for a "hand packed pint" which is no different than what they're selling for $3.99 (or less on sale) at Key Food? Same goes if you want a sundae, just buy the ingredients yourself and make it exactly like you like it. I guess if you're walking around and happen to want ice cream and don't care how much it costs, this is a good bet. There are more local ice cream places in Park Slope, though, and I'm sure they're more reasonably priced and just as good... I frequent this location several times a year to purchase holiday cakes. My family does a Fourth of July barbecue celebration, and we purchase a cake to commemorate the occasion every year. The store associates have done a better than average job decorating the cakes with American Flags or American Eagle images, at no extra charge. It gets so crowded in the springtime after school here. So not only are you barraged by little kids ogling flavors and trying to decide what they're going to blow their allowance on, you're also mired b the fact that they've surrounded you and there's really no cohesive line for the register. Once you've done that though, you can relish in the fact that your treat will be handed to you promptly and efficiently, and usually without hassle. Except for when one of the little buggers or their parents cut in front of you and order ice cream cakes or hand-packed pints when they can knowingly get it at the bodega two blocks over. Alright, this place is conveniently located on 7th ave which is the only reason why I come here (along with the unnatural tasting of Pistachio ice cream. Yum!) The cup sizes are not in proportion to the prices (guess who pays more for less?) and this place is TINY. I paid about $3-$4 for a medium cup which looked like it shrunk in the drier. So why is this place getting three stars from me? One fine day, I was eating my pistachio ice cream and a woman was breast feeding her child, conveniently right in front of me.
