We walked in to Qahwah just on a whim as we were passing by. We are so glad we did. This was our first time trying Yemeni coffee and the flavor profile is robust yet smooth. No bitterness. My latte was creamy and rich with coffee flavor. They claim to roast on demand so the beans have not been sitting very long which shows in the freshness of the aroma and taste. The staff was incredibly friendly and offered us samples Yemeni tea which was a treat to try. While we happened in to Qahwah I suggest you make it a coffee destination. read more

Came here to meet someone for a tea. we got a pot of Yemeni tea which was plenty to share between two people. It has similar flavors of a chai but definitely taste a little different. The place was full when I arrived at 7pm on a Tuesday and stayed busy until I left at 10 PM. Initially we were sitting at the counter and a table opened up. Thus, I wanted to tag the new location here to let Qawah fans know when in Bay Ridge you can drink and enjoy their delicious Yemeni Latte. On my visit here, I decided to try their Adeni Chai iced. The chai consists of Yemeni black tea, cardamom, nutmeg and milk. It was simply delicious. The Bay Ridge location is similar to the Williamsburg one and there is plenty seating. Great third place to hang out with friends and just yap away. It's open very late, until 1AM and there are plenty of tables. We ordered two servings of the large Adani chai (only one pictured) and the honey pull apart bread. The bread was fantastic and was served warm with high quality honey drizzled over top. The cheese in the bread is super mild and creamy, which I loved. The chai was also great, very strong though. Note that if you want it less sweet, get the first pours. It is a perfect place to sit down and study for a while or just stop in to grab and go. The drinks and pastries are flavorful and feel very authentic. What a wonderful way to start the day! Qahwah House was in the neighborhood we were staying in, and we knew we had to have morning drinks here. It's a cozy, warm (like VERY warm) space with a decent amount of seating and a huge back-of-house for a variety of coffee and tea offerings. We wanted to split a pot but didn't know what size, and the cashier recommended a medium for us two. It ended up being WAY too much - I'd recommend a small even for two people! We got the Adeni Chai and it was delicious. We had them hold the sugar so we could add our own - it's bitter without, but we prefer it less sweet. It would be awesome to see the seating area get a bit of an upgrade with cushions and some better chairs/tables, but it didn't stop us from enjoying our pot of chai onsite! read more

Beautiful and spacious with a second floor and amazing drinks and dessert. Love the place. On broadway between 111th and 112th streets close to Columbia University. We really enjoyed our visit to Qahwah House during our visit to Brooklyn. Qahwah house is the bees knees. It's bustling, energetic, and the perfect place to liven up your spirit, whether you're here to chill or just stopping by for your caffeine infusion. First time trying it on a weekend and the place was POPPIN'. Both with groups chatting up a storm, those trying to catchup on work on their laptops, and plenty of patrons coming in and out. The energy was boisterous as the weather in Brooklyn was at it's peak. We ordered what was popular: the Adeni Chai and the Yemeni Iced Latte (full sweet, with all the bells and whistles such as whipped cream, drizzled, etc). to get the full experience as a baseline. The baristas were cheerful and had a wonderfully fun vibe. It felt good to connect with part of the community, even if we weren't engaging in small talk. Just the vibes themselves were quite excellent. The Chai was on the stronger side, as my partner remarked feeling a tingly buzz waving through him soon after ingesting it. The Yemeni coffee was strong as well--I felt myself feel awakened and wired after about half the cup. It was a little too sweet, even for me who loves dessert coffee, as I'm trying to reduce my sugar intake these days. Next time I would order it without all the embellishments and less sweet. Overall super solid community spot that is super lively. I wouldn't recommend visiting if you are looking to have some intimate conversations. Definitely a spot where you and your party should be a little ready to be consumed by the jubilee of the place. Might be great for yapping sessions, actually. read more

A delicious warm cup of chai to share with friends was the perfect afternoon stop. The service is fast and everything is fresh and hot. Noting that it was incredibly overcrowded on a Sunday and there was nowhere for my group to sit so we took a stool and stood around it outside while it was still cold outside. Visited Qahwah House - Bay Ridge for breakfast. I ordered a sweet cappuccino, Yemeni milk tea, honeycomb, and an almond croissant. The cappuccino was overly sweet and pretty average. The tea was the highlight -- strong and flavorful, similar to Indian masala chai. The honeycomb was just okay, nothing special. The almond croissant was bitter and not enjoyable. The space is open and spacious, and the staff was quick and efficient. Overall, while the place looks fancy in photos, the food didn't live up to the expectations. read more

The Mofawar is amazing, the flavors are so inviting - you can taste the blend of coffee and cardamom, they go so well together, highly recommend trying this if you get a chance. Also grabbed a coconut Basboosa and Khaliat Alnahl, both were splendid and complimented the coffee so well. The spot is a bit crowded nowadays as it's become pretty popular, so try to get there a little earlier, go during non-peak hours, or you'll have to wait for a seat to open. I've wanted to come here for a while and finally got the chance to stop in on a Tuesday at around 3 pm while in the area! It was very calm and spacious when I arrived but it looks like many people tend to do work here since most of the seats along the walls and near outlets were taken. I ordered an Iced Adeni Chai and it was incredible. It was the perfect balance of milk tea, and I bet it would taste even better hot! The staff were also incredibly attentive -- one of them saw me looking around from my seat and asked if I needed the wifi password. I stayed for a little over two hours and at some time during the second hour, the wifi seemed to cut out so I had to resort to using my hotspot which wasn't an issue since it was when I was preparing to head out. This is the first Yemenite coffee shop I've been. I got the iced Yemeni latte and it was delicious. You can optionally put whipped cream on top and honey drip as well. The staff also asked if I wanted different sweetness level which is very considerate. I opted for the default just to taste what the original is like but it was a bit too sweet for me. I would suggest maybe cut down on the sweetness level if you're not a big fan of overly sweet drinks - I would probably also opt out on the whipped cream next time. We had difficulty deciding what pastries to get since they have other options on the display box that's not on the menu. We ended up with the - Classic Sabaya : flaky - Khaliat alnahl : cheese filled I liked both of the pastries - the sabaya feels more like a classic flaky phyllo texture while the khaliat alnahl is thicker and softer with filling. Can't go wrong with either! i would suggest eventually trying both so you can compare :) read more

3.5/5 First and most importantly, their chai is incredible and truly authentic. I am always seeking out a good cup of chai. I will absolutely keep coming back for that. Their pastries are also delicious and we only tried a couple of them! The location is pretty spacious and I get the vibe people come here to work on their laptops (not sure if they have free WiFi) and there's excellent natural light. This place would be an immediate 5/5 if they offered all reusable tableware/plates/etc -- only their teapots and cups are glass and the rest is plastic. The vibes would be way better if there were no plastic on the table. Additionally, they could keep the tables spaces/decor etc a bit cleaner. read more

This place shines with diversity and upon walking in you can hear so many different languages inside. People from different ethnic backgrounds visit this place due to its uniqueness, excellence and connection to many cultures. The pastries are very delicious. I enjoyed the Khaliat Alnahl pastry. Also, the Adeni Chai is my favorite on the menu. It was outstanding in flavor and aroma. They use premium organic coffee important from Yemen so no wonder it doesn't taste like water and milk like the fake Starbucks drinks and old rotted pastries. Finally someone sells real drinks. This place was about 45 mins away from my house and it's worth the drive to try this gem in Brooklyn. Really cool Yemeni coffee shop! I got their Adeni chai and their honeycomb bread, both of which were really good. They serve their tea in small pots, with the smallest going for $10 but it could be shared between two people. The Adeni chai, however, uses evaporated milk (no substitutes) which isn't great if you're lactose intolerant. But you can adjust the amount of sugar that gets added to the chai, so it was just the right amount of sweetness for me. The honeycomb bread was super fluffy and they usually pour honey on top of it - a really good combo with the chai. This place does have a decent amount of seating (tables and counter space by the windows), and they have wifi, but you have to ask for the wifi password. There are some outlets scattered around as well. I went on a weekend afternoon to get some work done before getting dinner nearby, and this place was consistently PACKED for the several hours that I was there. Since a lot of people get the honeycomb bread, the tables can get a bit sticky with honey, so definitely watch out for that. Overall a really cool cafe but the atmosphere for me was a bit too hectic - would recommend coming on a weekday instead if possible. read more

Im visiting on a busy Friday night, it's PACKED here and the staff are dishing out orders like a bunch of bosses. They are so well coordinated, no confusion, no errors. Clean murder, no stains. This place is being run like a well oiled wheel and everyone around is in a good mood. I have never had them miss a single note on my order, and that's nothing short of a miracle, considering Im here almost every weekend. My favorite here is the black yemeni tea. I originally wanted to try the coffee, but this review will be focused on their chai (as recommended by their yemeni worker) and sabaya. SABAYA For those unfamiliar, a crisp, layered, flakey slice of bread with honey drizzle and sesame. It's actually lighter than you'd think, and not saccharine despite the generous honey drizzle. Served warm, it makes a perfect pair to your chai or coffee and the worker highly recommended this as an authentic Yemeni item that is a must-try. Glad to have tried it. ADENI CHAI Similar to an authentic chai that you may have had - spiced, bold, soul-warming. Gets stronger as you keep drinking towards the bottom of the pot they give you which can serve two people if you get it to stay. I would say not as strong spice-wise compared to the indian chai I've had, for example, and has a nice richness with strong cardamom notes. The tea flavor is really honored here which I enjoyed. I'm so happy to have discovered Qahwah House but I'm gutted I've been missing out previously! This place is bustling and busy but has plenty of seats. Order at the counter and they give you a buzzer to know when your drinks are ready. Coffees and chais are all made to order so expect to wait a few minutes (it's worth it!). The guys here are super friendly, prices are reasonable. In addition to regular barista style coffee drinks they have Yemeni chais and coffees which are delicious. The coffee was the best I've had in a long long time. They also have a selection of cakes and pastries that I'll be sure to sample on another visit.
