Apparently, they also had an orange long stringy confection that she wanted for later indulgence. All very cool, but she isn't diabetic. The ambiance of Egger's is definitely mid-twentieth century, and could use a fresh coat of paint to brighten the joint up a bit. Maybe better lighting, too. Otherwise, growing up in the City (Washington Heights) in the same era, this malt shop/candy emporium with long counter and spinners brought fond memories of my childhood flooding back. Regardless of what you buy here - A smoothie, yogurt, fresh fruit cup, etc. it will set you back about $6, but some of their smoothies and fruit offerings are billed as meals, they do fill you up, are heatly and can weigh in at only about 300 calories or less. I had the spoonable mango banana smoothie which had I believe oats and sunflower seeds sprinkled on top, then the seeds were topped in a layer of bananna slices. The selection I got was quite tasty, but know that there is only 1 person working here and I had to wait in line for more than 10 minutes before being served and the airport wasn't even busy. in addition to their smoothies and other similar items, they offer bulk candies, trail mix, nuts and other items you can buy by the pound. They also sell things like bagels, cookies, muffins, bagged snacks and cold water, juices and bottled drinks.
