Hotel du Midi was a nice choice for a reasonably-priced ski weekend in Chamonix. Les Bossons is a few minutes south of Chamonix itself, but there is regular bus service that will take you up to the slopes easily. If you want to drive, there seemed to be a decent amount of parking at Grand Montets, but I didn't see where the parking was for Brevent, so I can't vouch for it there. The front desk staff all spoke english, and were happy to help with understanding the bus and setting up non-skiing activities if you want to take a break from the slopes for a day.
The rooms are standard European-lodge; lots of wood paneling, not overly large, but sufficient. The views from the balconies are amazing though, right up the side of the mountains, and if your room faces south-east you will also get to see the glaciers coming off the top of Mount Blanc, which is impressive.
The breakfast spread is impressive; the usual meats and cheeses (hard and soft, this is France after all), plus delicious baguettes (again, France), eggs, tarts, granolas, etc. The waitress will ask if you want coffee, and there is a juice machine at the buffet line. Dinner was also quite good, and the dessert spread is amazing so make sure you save plenty of room. There is also a bar/sitting room at the bottom of the stairs for apres ski beverages, and in the basement you will find a hot tub, sauna, and a ski room with boot drying racks.
Overall a good choice, but if you want to be able to walk into downtown for dinner or drinks after changing, you might want to stay closer to town. read more
