We are two adults and one 7 year old child. This place is perfect for families. It is small but…read morevery clean... the best part is the loft in the room that is perfect for my daughter. She was so thrilled to have this space and it was great to have her be able to head up there to play etc. I wish all hotels in this price class offered similar accommodations. We were also fortunate enough to get a room with a beautiful view. The staff is all super friendly and the breakfast offered some local items along with a pretty good assortment of typical breakfast items. If you haven't already noticed... we really had a wonderful experience and would recommend this ibis without hesitation.

Really comfortable and busy hotel right in the Marina. It's beside the Dior museum (€8) which we…read moreavoided and near the Manch lles car ferry to Jersey. We picked a room with a view of the stunning harbour, which cost a bit extra. It had the smallest balcony I've ever seen. Despite this, we squeezed in and sat for ages watching all the activity at the waterfront supported with a few bottles of wine. Some of the locals looked up and wished us bon appetite; what a civilised community. In fact the whole region is delightful to visit and worth a week. The tides here are quite something from shallow pools to a huge high tide (see photos). The room was very comfortable, with a reasonably large flat screen telly and a decent size bathroom. It had black out blinds and was double glazed so it was very quiet once the doors were closed. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the €9ish euro eat what you want brekky was very good indeed. I especially liked the coffee. I do have one niggle though: we ordered two coffees while we sat at a table at the Ibis restaurant overlooking the harbour, only to be charged another 90 cents just because we sat there. Thought for a moment I was in Italy! We had stayed the previous night in the Ibis budget a few miles away which was about £30 less. If we return we'll opt for the harbour. The budget hotel was very good too but the harbour is special.

Five stars on the price/quality scale. Granville lives off tourism, as reflected by the usual…read morestrip of same-same restaurants with virtually the same menus at the same price. La Citadelle is a cut above : clean, friendly, popular, oysters and other standards a bit pricier but quality way above the norm, a number of non-usual choices. After a couple nice, on the house amuse bouches, two of us shared a dozen oysters, and two bowls of rich, velvety rockfish soup made even better with croutons, grated cheese and a great mashed potato/ horseradish rouille. House white: a 50 cl pichet of Viognier, quite good at 13 euros. We left, quite filled and only 55 euros poorer.

The food in La Citadelle is great. The menus are creative and have a good price point. The only…read moresignificant issue with this restaurant is the FRONT OF HOUSE. It is a shame that a restaurant that (according to TripAdvisor and Yelp) is standing out lacks in a proper front of house management. I had the feeling that all waitresses including the hostess are 16 year old brats wearing (way too) short black skirts and trying to earn some money during their summer break from school. Far from a professional service experience. They were chatting and (I guess) gossiping whenever they were waiting for food coming out of the kitchen ... the service just lacked a professional management. It is a shame when that happens to a restaurant with a good chef. It once again shows that a great Back of House isn't everything, or in other words that a bad Front of House can ruin the entire dining experience.
