The tee boxes were dirt and clumps of crabgrass; the traps were hard packed; the mowing hadn't be kept up (yes it had rained Thursday and Friday); and fairways had bald areas and crab grass. We never saw an employee on the course....no marshal, cart or maintenance staff. For $78, I thought it was overpriced and I could play a better course in Montgomery County for nearly half. I've heard it was a good course, but right now, I'd have to give it a "C" at best.

For late winter, the course conditions were pretty good and layout was fun, while challenging. Although the course is a little further than i'd like to travel for golf, this is def a track worth playing atleast once or twice a year. Round on saturay at 9am was $88 which included the cart as well as cart cover. I would consider MSGC on the same difficulty level as worthington manor, but easier than whiskey, md national and richland. I'll return once more when the weather gets warmer and fescue is grown out.

It's off of either 70 or Route 40, but it's an easy drive coming from most directions, as long as you don't hit any traffic. It was a great experience from beginning to the end, even with temps in the high 90s! The course is beautifully maintained, with some challenging fairways and the greens were fast today. The staff was friendly and check-in was quick. The clubhouse is pretty huge and has the gigantic windows that overlook the course. The cart lady was very nice and checked in on us a few times throughout our outing I can't say anything about the pace of place because we were out there on a weekday, during a heat wave, so there weren't a lot of other golfers. From what I've been told, the weekdays aren't usually that busy and definitely cheaper than other courses in the area, which is crazy. The only reason for giving it 4 stars is because maintenance was out the day we were and they were on quite a few fairways the same time we were so they seemed annoyed that we were in their way and sometimes we had to wait for them to clear out. This may have been a one off so when I go back, I'll update my review.

We have come here on several occassions to either play at the driving range or to do a full 18-hole golf tournament. The drive in from the main road is nothing like any of the golf courses in the area. Staff are friendly, the grounds are nicely kept. Fresh cut green grass, rolling hills, and ruins of different buildings. Each portion of the course has a different feeling and there is even one hole in the back of the course that is very quiet and serene. There were a few times that we have seen golf balls from other holes fly near us, which was unsettling but other than that the course is quiet and peaceful. Golf carts have GPS maps along with hole distances. The food in the clubhouse is basically fried food, I would expect higher quality from a golf course this nice. The clubhouse could use an overhaul on the decor but otherwise it is in good condition. We have really enjoyed each time coming here and can't wait to be back in the spring.

You can always judge a course by the number of USGA US Open sectional qualifiers it hosts. Well,…read moreoutside of the hallowed halls of Woodmont CC, Worthington has consistently held sectional qualifiers for the US Open for good reason, this track is legit. While I personally don't like the layout or the course (lot of holes don't suit my eye), this course is arguably one of the best daily fee courses in this part of the state. I've been playing here for years and almost always the course eats my lunch. Pro shop is surprisingly well stocked, food and drink are great (more especially after the renovations a few years back and offering a full service restaurant). Range is great (in season they usually have the grass tees open). Staff are top notch and always accommodating. Years ago, the supper got a bit cheeky with a really unfair pin placement on 9. My foursome reported this to the head teaching pro at the time who went out, played the hole himself and reported back to us after the round. He agreed the pin placement was utterly ridiculous and encouraged us to mark our scorecards accordingly. At that time I wasn't posting scores as I didn't have an index and whenever I played here I'd shoot something awful. Over the years I've grown to love this course. Just expect to spend 5 hours on a round here in season on the weekends as the course is very popular.
