My daughter recently performed as Flounder in ICDT!'s Little Mermaid Jr. musical production, and I can't say enough wonderful things about this performing arts center. This was her first production outside of middle school, and she absolutely loved everything about the experience -- the directors, the supportive and welcoming environment, the incredible energy of ICDT!, and the kindness of the other students and families. We had explored other production programs before, but none felt as organized, communicative, or thoughtfully run as ICDT!. On top of that, ICDT! was incredibly generous in providing our family with a tuition scholarship, which allowed my daughter to have this truly memorable experience. For several years now have been following this Studio. Their Director Ryan Bernier recently knocked it out of the Park with " Something Rotten". On Mother's Day weekend, my wife and I and another couple attended Damn Yankees performance at the Del Valle Theater in Walnut Creek. About 3 months ago we attended the performance of Music Man. Again I was blown away with the performance of these well talented young and enthusiastic actors. It was so rewarding to watch the 2 hour performance of Damn Yankees. The acting, singing, dancing, multiple set changes were all so well done. Compliments to all the actors, directors. producers and all involved to bring this group to perform. It was the best $20 pp I ever spent for 2 hours of entertainment. I can't wait for the next show, and those to follow. read more

We stumbled upon ICDT PAC during the pandemic when they were offering various Zoom classes. Although our 11-year old son had a great time online (Open Mic Night, Theater Games, etc.), we soon came to realize that his virtual experience was just a peephole into the beautiful world of in-person musical theater ICDT had to offer. Our son had his first in-person audition in July 2021 for one of the two Mainstage Productions the center produces each year. I have so much gratitude for their ability to transform our son's feelings of vulnerability, anxiety, and fear into such a positive and inspiring experience. He walked away from his audition feeling even more passionate for theater. He's been in rehearsals for about 6 weeks now and is beaming with cheer everyday we pick him up. He says he never wants it to end. ICDT has created an honest, welcoming, and loving environment where our son isn't fearful being outside his comfort zone and feels confident challenging his abilities. ICDT creates the perfect emotional safety net. High praise for the committed directors who bring out the best in our children! What a blessing to call this place our son's second home. I don't know how to explain how amazing this place is. First off, it's CLEAN!!! They keep the bathrooms, the front and all the classes unbelievably clean. It's such a beautiful studio. I grew up in dance studios and although I've never practiced at a theatre studio, I've never seen a studio as impeccable as this one. The owners are so so nice!! And my daughter's teacher was amazing!! She had faith in my daughter and gave her a role that she loved and now just wants to act more. What an amazing experience ICDT has been for our family! My son dipped his toe into summer camp two years ago and has since fallen in love with performing and learning all he can for his passion. ICDT has not only provided him with the opportunity to learn and grow in his acting, singing, and dancing, but also helped his confidence, ability to take on new challenges, follow through on his commitments, and build an incredible network of new friends. We recently fell on some financial difficulties and almost had to drop from the program. We learned that ICDT has a wonderful scholarship program and after a simple application process, we learned we had been awarded a scholarship for my son to continue with ICDT. What amazing choreography! It was clear the students put a great deal of effort into their performance. The tickets were reasonable, the theater at Del Valle didn't have a "bad" seat. The sets, costumes, acting, singing, and dancing were all fantastic. I was impressed to hear how well some young people could sing and some of the dance moves were very difficult, but executed superbly. It was refreshing to see so much young talent. The young man who played the Music Man lead in the B performance at 2:00 on Saturday 2/ 4/2023 was stellar! He danced like a professional, had an amazing voice, acted well, and had fabulous facial expressions while he danced. He was a joy to watch. So disappointing! I received a voicemail Monday there was an opening, and I called back Tuesday and spoke with Alyssa for a long time about my daughter and if she would be the right fit. I Confirmed my daughter will join the upcoming Friday. Only to receive another voicemail the day of the class saying they filled the spot which made no sense. When I called and spoke to Debra and she said I didn't call back fast enough. I let her know Monday was a Jewish holiday and we did not use phones, but she said sorry there was nothing she could do. It was quite disappointing as I spoke with my daughter and got her excited about going only to find out 4 hours before the class they decided not to accept her. She was so upset! read more

My niece just performed and sang this weekend in the musical, "The Music Man," presented by I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center. The production and performance was sooo good that the audience erupted into vigorous applause and cheering in simple delight and appreciation throughout the performance. I was actually moved almost to tears when the town librarian character Marian Paroo exquisitely sang the culminating song, "Till There Was You," which expressed her appreciation for the joy that the character Harold Hill brought, albeit unintentionally, to the small town he was out to swindle. As I was watching this large theatrical troupe of young boys and girls move through the stage in their rendition of this musical, it dawned on me how exuberant, expressive, dedicated, and stellar each and everyone of their performances were! What a feat it must have taken to bring out the very best and the most professional of performances from all of these wonderful young people. I came out this Saturday afternoon in awe of the gift that this local non-profit theatre company, I Can Do That!, has brought to these young people -- pride and accomplishment in giving a lot of their all in bringing to life so excellently this musical. read more

We've only just begun our adventure with ICDT, and already, we're very impressed. First and foremost, they offer a homeschool theater class, that includes my child's age. I can't tell you how much that alone means to us. This is the only theater company that would take a child at the age of mine, AND with a good schedule. But don't let that fool you in to thinking "Oh, they're the only, not the best." Let me tell you, I lucked out! They are the only, yes, but they're also the best. We've tried many different theater companies (with my older kids, this is the first for my youngest), and though we loved the others, there was often some type of difficulty. Nothing big, just little things like lack of communication. They would say "be sure to practice!', but then not give us the music or a video of the dance to practice with. They'd expect young kids to remember after one class and be able to go home and practice for the week. And other little things like that. But so far, this place is great! Right from the beginning, we have had the script, the music, and even videos from each class! The teachers are friendly, welcoming, communicative, and my kid loves going to class. read more

Our daughter has been a part of the ICDT family for the past 3 years and I honestly cannot say enough good things about it. It is so rare these days to find mentors/teachers who care for their students as deeply as Shayna and Jarusha do. They know each child individually, their strengths and weaknesses, and somehow manage to help each child reach their highest potential. The culture is so supportive and the expectations of the kids are high, but in a good way. The shows they put on are on a professional level and the kids are so proud of what they are capable of doing. It is impressive. Our family members are always asking when the next show is, because they are that good! ICDT is has the winning recipe in my opinion: good kids, supportive teachers/mentors and high expectations! A little spendy even by Danville standards but worth it for the positive experiences and excellent training they are receiving. I can do that is an amazing place for kids to be themselves. I was fortunate enough to teach classes with them while I was living in the Bay Area and they have really created something special. The kids are so excited to learn and perform. They learn not only theatre and performance, but confidence & community as well.
