I took the defensive driving course in order to get a ticket off my record. I decided to go with the online option and it worked out great for me. It's only a 6 hour video course and it's broke up into 6 chapters. The program asks you one question during some videos just to make sure you are paying attention. After each chapter (1-5) there is a small quiz 10-12 questions. The questions are pretty basic so anyone should be able to pass them. read more

I had a great experience with I Drive safely. I only took the 6 hour course and I finished in one day. It is great, it's somewhat entertaining and I learned a couple of new stuff as well. (I had already taken a 32 he course somewhere else but failed to finish it on time so I waited until I was 18 so I only took the 6 hour course) although i did have to call at least 12 times for the voice recognition it got a little annoying but overall I had a great experience. read more

This was an easy and convenient way to stay at home to complete this task of defensive driving. I did enjoy and learn some new laws too. Well made video course. It I'd take longer than I expected but I was able to stop, sign out then log back in to continue as I pleased without loosing my place. However there was some start over sections I did not understand why it made me begin again for two sections. May have been my internet connection. Over all it was pretty cool, fun and informative. Excellent course!! You really learn so much. The only thing i didnt like was that if you miss a test you have to read the hole chapter againg. But in general is great information, some of them you know it, other are a refresh, and other things was new to me. Iblike the part where the show you different scenarios if the car have a mechanical failure and how deal with each one. Really nice i like it!! And they give you reviews that you can print so you dont fail the test. After 5 hours into the class (last module) their crappy voice recognition system stopped working - they switched me to the keystoke (why no mention of this earlier?) but said I had to take the whole class over blaming it on NYs law. Easy, quick and customer service is good. But there is a timer that lasts longer than the video which does get annoying.

Easy to use website. Very user-friendly when it comes to saving progress and coming back later and picking up right where you left off. Good purchase options allowing you to choose just the very basic/minimum option all the way up to several upsell/fancier options. However, it's not an obnoxious upsell pitch. The course itself is painful, but that's not "I Drive Safely's" fault...the course content and materials are mandated by the State of Texas. This company does a very good job of making an unpleasant process as friendly and tolerable as possible. Do not use the online mature driver course. I will not use this website again and will return to the course on AARP. The timing on pages is way off kilter, e.g. you are given over 5 minutes to read three paragraphs which is ridiculous, and then there's just a couple minutes to read an entire page. You end up just sitting there waiting until you can continue to the next page. The content is also extremely repetitive and so many statistics. It does not help me to be a better driver to know dozens and dozens of statistics. read more

ZERO STARS...ABSOLUTELY DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! My son completed the course in August and still has not received his certificate. The first copy was returned to them since the city didn't match even though the zip code was correct. After speaking to a rep, she offered the option to emailing the copy. But we opted for the regular mail again since we really thought we would receive it without any more delays. But that was just wishful thinking! A copy was supposed to have been sent in September and we still have not received it! So we called again thinking that we would go with the e-mail option....only to be told that option is not available in California!! The rep was trying to make us feel that WE did something wrong and was very impatient. I requested to speak to a supervisor which just led being transferred to voicemail!! What kind of clown show is this? Website barely functions; the credit card part works amazing - imagine that. NOTHING ELSE WORKS. Stuck on chapter 2, won't let me continue unless I upload my documents. Trying to upload freezes every time, tried every browser type, IE, Chrome, IE Edge, Firefox. Shrank my files too, nothing larger than 500kb. Tried calling 5 times! No answer, actually it hangs up on you. I selected to do the survey after even, rings for 30 mins then directs you to the survey. "How many times did you try calling?"...pressed 5, "we're sorry, we don't understand that option". HA! The mature driver course is a lonnng slog (6 hours or more), with a lot of time taken up telling an experienced driver things they should already know. Thanks for telling me what a stop sign looks like. Lots of statistics that really won't stick, but they quiz you on anyway. The minimum time on each page has nothing to do with the amount of reading. You can't progress until the time is up. For example, one page with a few short paragraphs might require 90 seconds to read, and another much longer page would only need 15 seconds. The website itself is clunky: I couldn't correct my ID, even though it offered the option, and the so-called Help section was no help at all for this problem. No "contact us" in sight. I don't think they update this course very often: some sections referred to years such as 2011 as "coming up". Like someone else stated in their review, it locked me out for no apparent reason, and I had to wait until the next day to continue. At least it didn't forget my place when this happened. I took this course 3 years ago, and I don't remember it being that bad. Next time, I'll look around for a better option. read more

This was a horrible experience. They promise 24 hour support but the weekend I planned on taking the course they did not have the right kind of support available. I was put on hold for long periods; I was given different information by different customer services people and I was given erroneous information by their "customer support" staff. Please DO NOT use this service. While it went quick once I got signed in during regular business hours, the confusion and havoc wrecked on my schedule was HORRIBLE. I recently completed this course online however my completion of the course was never reported to my department of licensing and I got my license suspended because of this. It's a scam and now I continually get e mails to do it again which if it had been reported properly I'd have my license still. It's also only good once a year or less so don't do it. Find a local option that is accredited. read more

I had to take my defensive driving and I have to say, the video was entertaining and also emotional at some points. It really shows the consequences of your actions. The problem was the expense of it.. I paid over $100 on the course and the driving record because of next day shipping so I could get it to the court. They don't ship on national holidays so I was basically ripped off and I couldn't get my money back. If they had a better refund policy it would help. Although I've been driving a long time, I actually learned a lot in this course. The website is great and so easy to start and stop your course and pick up where you left off. The short video segments made it more interesting. My only complaint is with the personal questions. They seemed to be more about the car than about me or my driving circumstances. Since the car was leased, very few of the answer choices made sense. I called the 800 number and got great service and a quick explanation, 24/7. I had to take the course to satisfy a speeding violation :( but found the course to be painless and I learned a lot! Thanks! read more

The only reason why I am not rating this course five stars (which it deserves) is that I must meet demands to provide notarized documentation verifying my identity EVEN AFTER I called right away and told THREE customer service agents that I was having issues doing so during the class (you're required to call in and do voice identity verification) due to power outages caused by inclement weather. I shouldn't have to still meet this demand as my reason can be easily proved by turning on the TV to The Weather Channel since my city is on national news. I took the course on -line it was nice not to worry about driving anywhere. I waited till the last minute so i had to do it all in one day; therefore it was tuff to sit there till i got it done. if you take it you have to be there, cant leave they will ask you questions to make sure you are there going thru the material but you can also finish a section and take little breaks and then go back and pick up another new section I would take it again if i had to, hopefully not!!! The coursework was almost entirely just reading the screen and our daughter found it a bit dull. While this is not intended to be entertaining, making it interesting causes facts to stay in the memory of teens. In addition, make sure you get done in 9 months! They bury details in the License agreement sent to the teen that indicates you only have access for 270 days - they they extract another $20/month from you to finish. At the end, the charge you $9 to get a copy of the certificate e-mailed to you, but will snail mail for free (why is email more expensive?). The course was sub-par and the organization seems a bit less that reputable. I will absolutely choose another option when my next daughter needs such a course. read more

They are very careless about the work they do. I finished the mature driver course and suppose to received a certificate. The first time they sent me a certificate with the wrong student name on it. From the beginning, my videos wouldn't play. I messaged them through their website multiple times and all I ever got was an auto-response via email. I finally got my videos to play with no help from them. I figured out that their videos needed flash to play, and even though it says it can, it can't play on Safari. My videos had been working, they were a little slow, but they were still playing until I got to to the second chapter in my course. I had done maybe 30 minutes of videos before it stopped working again! I emailed them this time explaining that I had been having trouble with their website since the beginning. When I got no response, my dad and I decided to read some of their reviews looking for some kind of help. Going through their most recent reviews we saw that not one of them was positive. Other people were complaining about their HORRIBLE customer service, and everyone who was able to complete their course never even received their certificate! This place is a total scam! read more

My teenager was referred by a local driving shool - however, their website linked to the wrong signup, the parent taught driver education class. For Texas, the 32 hours of formal instruction is state-mandated, so presumably the same between the two classes. When we discovered the error, I called, but was told my only option was to have my teenager sign up for, pay for, and complete the other class! Needless to say, I am not happy with that response, and neither idrivesafely, nor the local driving school that referred us, will be getting any more of our money. read more

I took the TEXT course because I read quickly. ALL courses are required, by law, to add a time to each webpage or presentation to ensure students do not "click through" the content in hopes of testing-out of the course. I found adding a football game to my 2d monitor made a pleasant buffer (a laptop and TV would likewise). I took about a week to complete the course because I wasn't in a hurry and football was only a few hours (grin). There are simple pop-quizzes after each chapter and occasionally one question after a video (there a some videos even in the text course). If you paid the tiniest bit of attention, you'll breeze through the questions. If you get less than 70% on a quiz, you will start over from the beginning (relax - just the 2-min video on the single-question quiz). But IMHO, if you can't answer the SUPER EASY questions, you're probably an idiot and should not be driving. My only rub was the "encouragement" to upgrade to audio/video - there should be a "Don't ask again" option. Similarly, don't bother with the "Like us on FB for a discount" scam. My story: At the end of the course, I considered the priority mail option, free after liking on FB. I did not receive any discount, so I stuck with the normal US Mail option. I have not yet received either my certificate or driving record, but they have a few more days. I'll update only if not received as promised. Finally is it impossible to compare course. My spouse took the "Improv" course a year ago - while she is not a computer guru, her vociferous and frequent cursing about links and lags suggested to me that she found the Improv website and course frustrating (which is why I did NOT choose that company). Based upon her experience, I think I made the better choice with iDriveSafely. While there will NOT be a "next time" for me, if necessary I would return to this company for the course. read more

I had the worst experience with this company. I took the course, failed the voice recognition one time, I contacted them and they told me it was ok and not to worry. I get all the way to the end of the course and failed it again. I was kicked out of my program. I called customer service and spoke to them and was laughed at and told I would be transferred to a supervisor.I was hung up on. I just spent an additional 2 hours trying to get in touch with them just so I could get my money back. I was hung up on multiple times and told I would speak to a supervisor and never did. This has to be the worst traffic safety school out there. Not only did i take the course... no problem, but the big thing was certificate delivery. I paid for overnight and with no signature knowing i would not be home. To no surprise Fed Ex didn't leave it as they said nobody was home to sign. Hmmmmm. lets call customer services as I have copies printed of my delivery option with the box checked for "no signature required". All customer service could say is that i did and he was looking at the screen showing how i checked off "needs signature". That's odd, how can i have one and they have another. Once i asked for an email copy as i need it ASAP, i was told no, since they mailed the original. In an icloud type of world, are you telling me you have no electronic copy? What if i needed a duplicate? You have no copy? So instead of pleasing a customer who paid for the course, and then paid extra for overnight delivery, you would rather get this 1 star and not be recommended ever again. Its funny as i am in a networking group full of insurance agents and adjusters who might find my story rather interesting so that other clients don't use this service. read more

Don't waste your time. Their voice authentication system does not work. I failed to verify once when it totally was me and I was using the very same phone I used before. When I tried to finish (at 75% done), their voice authentication system was down so I couldn't proceed. Then when it came back up, I failed the verification again. Failing twice means you have to start from scratch. I just asked for a refund. Only good thing is they processed my refund immediately and I learned some stuff for free. read more

I drive safely uses fraudulent practices to get you to spend money on things that you don't need. Right after you enter your information for the course you are prompted to enter more information like your dd number and social security without explaining what they are for. You aren't informed that this is for ordering a driving record until later, when you are asked how you want it shipped to you. When I discovered that I had been charged 25 dollars for a driving record that I already had, and contacted their support, I was refused a refund. Do not use I drive safely's defense driving course, one wrong click and you will find yourself paying 25 dollars for a driving record that the state only charges ten dollars for. read more

THE WORST. A total scam. BEWARE!!!! STAY AWAY!!! My son had to retake parts that he had already taken TWICE, first of all. Then when you finally get someone on the phone for assisitance, they don't speak english and you can't understand what they are saying. The worst part of this company is their sneaky lack of transparency. There is such little explanation about what exactly is needed. There is alot of double talk, and you really have no idea what is required to do to receive your certificates and license. That is, until you've been suckered in already and can't get out!! It has been EXHAUSTING. I'e been dealing with them since January. It is August. And now that my son finally got his learner's permit, yesterday, they sent me to their Driver's Education "Sister Company" which must be a red-headed step sister, because there is no comunication between the two, even though that sister comapny's phone number is LISTED on the I Drive Safely letter head email I received. They have two diffrent operating systems, I am told. Not interested. Then that "Sister Company" will take down your credit card information as fast as lightning, attempting to charge you $374 for 7 hours of behind the wheel training, NOT telling me that this would only be a first installment and tht my child will have to take a total of 34 hours of behind the wheel training! That's over $1800! Now, if we leave the "Instructor Lead Course" and opt for "Parent Taught," my son will have to take the 6-hour course all over again. Even though hes already passed it AND gotten his Learner's Permit. SCAM. Can't say enough bad things about this "company," if you can call them that. Hate I even have to press one star. They deserve negative stars. There has not been one good thing about dealing with them. Including Tawana W. who has yet to call me back. Lastly I will add that the last woman I spoke to said that parents who had no time to teach their children, were the ones choosing the "Instructor Led" courses. That is rude, wrong and unfair.
