The one draw back to the room is that the area for doing sit-ups, or any other floor work is so small that if one person is using the matts you have to wait or just do your excorsize on the hard floor. Not a big deal and since it is a small gym there isn't much they can do about it but it is something to keep in mind. That said if you don't mind working out on the hard floor there is room to do that. The staff is friendly and the gym is clean and well lit. I work out there a lot and definitely recommend it.

It's a pricey, luxury gym with clients that pay more to get more so making people jump through tons of hoops to hold a month for travel, work, etc doesn't gel with that vibe. If you give a months notice this should allow plenty of time to adjust staffing. You have to pay extra for a lot of stuff, so in order to use a lot of what really makes a gym like this worth the extra $ in the first place, you have pay EVEN MORE. I invited a friend to this Life Time Fitness location expecting a high-end experience, but…read moreunfortunately it turned into a very disappointing situation. His belongings were stolen from the men's locker room, and we immediately filed a police report. After over a month of no communication, management finally reached out saying they "might" have a suspect. About a week later, we were told the bag had suddenly reappeared in the locker room after a nightly check--which raises serious concerns. When we retrieved the items, cash ($300) and a YSL cologne were missing. There are too many inconsistencies, and the situation feels poorly handled and unprofessional. What's more concerning is the lack of accountability--calls to the GM have gone unanswered, and no effort has been made to offer compensation or reassurance. For a facility that markets itself as luxury, this experience fell far below expectations. I've also since heard of similar incidents happening in the men's locker room, which is alarming.

She is allowed to pick and choose which policy she enforces. When it comes to having kids hangout in the lifting areas or in bathrooms it's a total free for all. There are plenty of signs up that clearly state no gym bags in the lifting area but yet every other person you see has a bag on them. It literally feels like a High School upstairs with all the backpacks. And when I complained, she told me she is doing her best, and whenever I see the bags up there to tell her. When I did that, I was told I was trying too hard! Then they suspended my Membership because they do not want to have to enforce ALL of their own policies. There is literally only one entrance/exit and once you go upstairs you have to go back down in order to leave. Think about what people can bring in a big old duffle bag when no one is truly enforcing the bag policy. It's scary to even think about how unprofessional this club has been managed and the liabilities they have in front of them. The suspension of my Membership for asking them to enforce their own policies is discrimination. They are trying to silence Members instead of actually making change.

Workouts can be intense but at the end of them you're on a bit of a high. Workouts range from about half an hour to about an hour. I think they have a free trail so you can check it out and see if it's for you, which was really nice before I committed to paying. They have various packages based on sessions. It's a bit far for me to commit to the unlimited so I like that I can get the 4 or 8 sessions and pop in a few times a month to switch out my workouts and keep it interesting.

I find that the clientele is friendly, respectful, and fitness-focused. Lastly, the gym is located in a very cute area of Western Springs. The course is a par 3 course so it shouldn't be treated like a ultra competitive professional course. You should have fun with it, and my group definitely did. The course offered enough obstacles to make you think how you need to pay, and the greens were a fun challenge. On the downside, there were definitely some bad divits on the Fairway and some bad patches on the green that weren't that big a deal, but when putting and there is bald patch on your line, it makes it that much harder to hit your putt. Finally the markers for teeing off were definitely moved around and the range to green was definitely not right fortunately we had a range finder. Overall though great experience, and I will definitely be returning to practice my mid range game.

There are ropes to hold to but the little daredevil in her would just run across so it is important to be watchful of the child and be sure they won't trip and fall through the ropes. 2) The whole playground has a rubbery ground so it is very comfortable and safe. 3) There is a splash pad in between the toddler and older children sections. I am uncertain when it actually turns on. We have been twice, once at 9 AM and a second time at 3:30 PM. It was on in the afternoon and several kids were running in and out of the splash pad. It's a great option to have when it's hot and sunny out. 4) There are six tennis courts nearby and this works out perfectly for our preschooler to squeeze in a tennis session with her daddy before or after the playgrounds. Cons: 1) Not a con at all - But the playground is so vast that I can barely capture the whole frame in one picture!

After my new fitbit confirmed I was leading a very sedentary life I knew it was time to start moving again. I had been a summertime runner, occasional yoga goer, and sporadic fitness center attendee. However, I typically have had difficulty sustaining a workout habit. A friend of mine kept recommending i.e. fitness but I was concerned about what a "boot camp" would be like. I pictured someone yelling at me to do more boring stuff faster. I finally gave in, and discovered I was completely wrong! Ian and Emily lead us through rotations of well-designed exercises. Every day is an interesting and fresh workout with different combinations of cardio, weights, and other fitness equipment. These efficient workouts have helped me build strength, cardio, balance, etc. It's total fitness and I feel so awesome after each workout! When you start going, you also just seem to naturally fall into a healthier lifestyle. Ian and Emily help create an inviting and fun environment in which you meet great people and really get to know them. There is inspiration in sharing healthy lifestyle ideas including some great recipes! Having this kind of environment makes it more fun to go. It's like visiting friends. As a side note I started bringing my husband. Although he plays all sorts of sports he has never been a gym guy. The first time I took him he just said "wow". He is now a regular too! Here is what makes i.e. fitness different. 1) The knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and kind instructors (who happen to be the owners). 2) The individualized attention. 3) You will work much harder than if you just "went to the gym." but you will have much more fun. read more

I have been exercising at IE Fitness since they opened, and have found Ian and Emily, as well as their facility, to be top-notch. It is immediately clear this gym is a labor of love for the owners, and they really go above and beyond to help every one of their clients achieve success. I am most appreciative of the willingness (and enthusiasm!) Emily and Ian have to understand each client's specific circumstances and goals, then create a plan that is unique to that client. This is not the place to go if you want to be another meathead. (Although, they could probably make you a meathead too.) No, this is a place to go to build a healthy lifestyle and to understand all the things required for your own wellness, including exercise, nutrition, and recovery. And, Emily and Ian are just cool people and you will enjoy conversations with them about things outside of the gym (books, movies, restaurants, etc.) Overall, I cannot recommend IE Fitness enough. read more

I am a 16 year old student who plays competitive tennis. Before I trained with Emily and Ian, I always thought I can get by with training by myself and working out all the time. But what I didn't understand was how much more help seeing a trainer could be. These two aren't any ordinary trainers though. Now, I am more light and quick on the court while also maintaing core strength and power. I workout with Emily, she works me in every aspect I need. I don't even have to think about what my body needs because she knows what to do and she also explains it to me when I want to know. Emily specializes in every workout and rehabilitation program you can think of. Ian is also an amazing trainer who also pushes you very hard and is a big motivator like Emily. These two are not just trainers.... They are amazing passionate loving people. I recommend, whole heartedly, them to anyone. read more

I am loving Ian's 6am boot camp classes! It's wonderful that it is possible to get a great full body workout in such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I've always been a little nervous about joining gyms because of the testosterone levels and aggressive pressure, but i.e. fitness has a very warm and familial tone that makes working out fun. Ian and Emily care about all the individuals that work out with them and are genuinely interested in their lives as well as their fitness and well being. I sprained my ankle a few classes in and Ian ensured I got home okay and took the proper time off, even checking in every so often. We are now modifying exercises to account for my ankle without sacrificing a great workout. It's a great environment for anyone who doesn't want the high pressure and empty commitments of a huge gym. read more

I am proud to be a member of i.e fitness for more than a year. Prior to joining i.e. fitness, I looked at other so called fitness facilities that had equipment and very limited staff. As you joined they explained the equipment and basically said good luck. i.e. is a very different place. Once you join you become family. Ian & Emily are awesome. Their group classes are a mixture that help people lose weight, build muscle, strength and increase your stamina while making you feel great. Their attention to each individual is motivating, fun and makes you want to come back. Ian & Emily are certainly passionate about what they do and what they can do to help you accomplish your goals. I had been looking to get back into the workout routine for a long time and was struggling to get motivated and get to the gym. That all changed when I found i.e. fitness. Ian and Emily are so encouraging and uplifting and their gym is like a family atmosphere and is not intimidating at all! This was what I was exactly looking for. They offer both personal training and boot camp sessions. Their classes are a mix of both cardio and strength training. I love working out with Emily & Ian! I like group fitness classes (hot yoga, cross training, spin, etc) but its always a different instructor every time and I don't feel like they care all that much about me. It is such a different experience at i.e. fitness. Emily & Ian really care about the progress I make every week...its almost like its their victory too. The gym is clean, the music is cool, they work you out hard like any other fitness studio would but its their friendship and encouragement that make me want to come back every week. Emily and Ian are really a cut above when it comes to personal trainers (and I have tried many!). I have been training with Emily for about a year now and always get an amazing workout that is tailored to my specific needs. She is currently helping me train for my first half-marathon! Not only has she been a phenomenal friend and trainer to me, but she also trains my son with special needs and I could not be more grateful to her for her kindness, compassion and patience. This gym is awesome. The owners Ian and Emily both have the education and background that make them trustworthy, effective trainers. Plus, they obviously love what they do. This isn't the kind of place where you just show up whenever, do your own half-hearted workout, and leave. They personally plan and lead their bootcamp classes and individual training sessions, and they take the time to get to know everyone that steps through their door. They are all very knowledgable and can adapt any workout to meet your current needs and goals. I was able to workout through 2 pregnancies until the week of delivery without any discomfort and credit how quickly I was able to recover from both deliveries to Body Dynamics. I have moved 3 times since starting to work out with them and continue to drive 30 minutes away because I love them SO much!! I highly recommend them. You won't find a more personalized workout anywhere else.

Vince, the owner, is not only extremely passionate about fitness, but will work with you one on one to ensure you have proper form and get in the best shape of your life. I have never met a trainer so knowledgable about the body and how to take care of it WHILE getting stronger. The members at this gym quickly become like family and are kind and welcoming. The gym itself is in great condition and all the equipment needed to get an amazing workout in with other people is always available. Don't let the rumors about crossfit intimidate you-- there's a place for anyone at CFE and I gauruntee you'll walk out feeling amazing after every workout.

I have no idea how the owner/instructor has managed to attract such amazing teachers - but her business expanded a lot in the last 2 years and she needed more people - fortunately every one is great. The vibe is very friendly and supportive but rigorous. Everyone encourages each other. By rigorous i mean the instructors help you do the move correctly so you benefit from it - whether mat class, reformer, or other apparatus - doing it right makes you stronger, more flexible and minimizes the chance of injury. Modifications are always there for people who don't can't do an exercise the "standard" way for a range of reasons. MBS is very beginner friendly but great for advanced people too. Some advanced classes will really kick your butt if you want/need that.
