THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST MANAGED GYM OUT THERE! After being a Member for 6 years now, the General Manager, in conjunction with the Lifetime Customer Relations employee, decided to have my Membership suspended for calling her out on how she does not enforce ALL the policies at this location! She is allowed to pick and choose which policy she enforces. When it comes to having kids hangout in the lifting areas or in bathrooms it's a total free for all. There are plenty of signs up that clearly state no gym bags in the lifting area but yet every other person you see has a bag on them. It literally feels like a High School upstairs with all the backpacks. And when I complained, she told me she is doing her best, and whenever I see the bags up there to tell her. When I did that, I was told I was trying too hard! Then they suspended my Membership because they do not want to have to enforce ALL of their own policies. There is literally only one entrance/exit and once you go upstairs you have to go back down in order to leave. Think about what people can bring in a big old duffle bag when no one is truly enforcing the bag policy. It's scary to even think about how unprofessional this club has been managed and the liabilities they have in front of them. The suspension of my Membership for asking them to enforce their own policies is discrimination. They are trying to silence Members instead of actually making change. read more

Bunch of shirtless college men are always in the washroom taking pictures next to weights area. They ignore the notice on the mirror "Do not to use cameras". Younger teen boys feel very intimidated and avoid using restroom there. GM had been informed in the past but she hasn't done anything to make any improvement. It's a shame. read more

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Life Time. I called on the 27th to cancel my membership and was instructed to send an email. Not a single person mentioned a 30-day notice requirement. After multiple attempts to call, no one answered the phone. When I finally reached someone, I was told they were "doing me a favor" while continuing to charge my account anyway. This is deliberately misleading, dishonest, and unprofessional. If you require a 30-day notice, it is your responsibility to clearly disclose that information at the time of cancellation -- not hide behind fine print and then continue billing customers. Poor communication, poor customer service, and an arrogant attitude. read more

There are way too many teenaged kids here to be a nicer, more expensive gym. I have access to LA Fitness as well and it's not even this bad there. Overall my experience has been pretty crappy. If you're thinking about signing up, make sure you're a person who is a morning to midday gym goer. If you try to go after your 9-5 or school hours, you'll be as bummed as I was. I ended up leaving after my cardio warm up because nothing else was available. :( I didn't take pictures because it'd be creepy - but I'm not exaggerating when I say every single machine was in use at 7:15pm. read more

this club is known for getting rid of its best instructors. the management does not care about the members; they only care about making money. they have some great instructors there who care about the members but they always manage to force them out. one of the most beloved and extremely talented instructors was just forced out. despite the outcry of the huge number of members who took her classes it all fell on deaf ears. her classes always had wait lists because she was such a popular instructor. apparently they decided to get rid of her for no apparent reason. what kind of club would get rid of someone like that? I would think that any club would want someone who has such a huge following. but not lifetime-they think it's a good idea to get rid of talented people. she was a big reason I went to lifetime. now I will shop around to find a place with someone that was as knowledgeable and talented as she was-which will be hard to find. read more

I am member to this club for last 20 years Lifetime is an excellent fitness that has everything available for you for exercise.You can choose from lots classes yoga, machines, games swimming etc according to your choices . Having Diamond Club access, I'm able to check all the Life Times in the Chicagoland area. Out of the 5 I've visited so far, this is the lowest ranking one. It's definitely a dated club. From the mens locker room (dated shower heads, mirrors right next to the lockers) to some of the older cardio machines, this place needs some updated. Even the cafe was somewhat scarce in product in the cooler (it was only 12:45p in the day) and in the amount of space for people to sit. There were only two people working the day I went. I also utilized the day care here for our 4 month old, and the staff was ok. I got a phone call about an hour into them watching him as he was crying. When I get there, one of workers said "I think his stomach hurts". I said "it's probably just a diaper change". It was just a diaper change - no stomach pains. Cmon. Pass on this club and it's too bad as I expected something greater to reflect Burr Ridge. read more

Came as a guest with a friend and left as a new member of lifetime thanks to Dana. She was very helpful with signing up and gave me the run down on the facility. After explaining all the activities and benefits of being a lifetime member i signed up after my workout. Highly recommend coming here over x sport or planet fitness yes it will cost more but the experience is well worth it. read more

Great facility, very clean and organized. Been a member of Life Time since 2001. This is one of the OG clubs in the Chicago area.

Recently joined and unfortunately I do not see me staying long. The equipment area upstairs is great however I joined so I could have a steam room and a sauna to enjoy. The locker rooms and the pool area are filthy dirty. The upstairs bathrooms are filthy as well. I am disappointed because having just moved here I was really looking forward to this gym. read more

I am a gym junkie as my wife would call it. Due to my insurance, I have memberships at almost every chain in the city. Two things about lifetime that are negative and two things that are positive. On the negative side, gym member members are rude in that they will sit on equipment and do everything but workout. Hard to believe people are working out when it's mostly a lot of sitting around. Also you would think this particular gym would be very very clean. I see no one wiping equipment off when they get up and the wipes are few and far between. Crunch fitness has wipes on almost every support pole in the building. On the positive side, the gym has everything. I mean everything you need in a gym. But you also pay for that if you have a normal membership lastly the staff is very helpful. I know my way around the gym and you see staff walking around checking on people all the time. read more

And the classes are not clearly spelled out in the app so hard to know when to avoid them. Vibe of place can be a little too much bro culture (even the staff sports political garb). Overcrowded and poor facility management makes this location difficult to get any benefit from. The facility is awesome. Indoor and outdoor pools with laps lanes and a large leisure pool area adjacent for both. The problem is that non-swimmers - including a personal instructor- will occupy the swim lanes even though they don't swim or doing laps (they stand in one place). Amazing facility! I love it here. It's like the gym you dreamt about but never knew existed. One of the best gyms I have used. The equipment are very clean and up to date. This is a 5 star resort-styled, gym and spa... Employees, management, and even other members are all great. While they offer everything, the overall standout is their Kids Academy all teachers are very very good. Give it a try, it's awesome! Instructors are very good. The equipment is top of the line. They have machines and equipment I've never seen anywhere else. Showers are with everything you need. The cafe is awesome as well. I've been apart of lifetime for years. More recently, it started to get very crowded there. I had to stand around and wait for weight machines. The treadmill I was using kept glitching and kept stopping. Since the start of January, I have been there 3 times. Each time I have gone, Ive been sick the day after. Yes lifetime has nice equipment and a lot of utilities, but it's not worth it because of how crowded it is. It bothers me when I can't do my workout because I have to wait for people just sitting around on equipment... read more

We joined LTF in Burr Ridge before it opened in 2001 and maintained our membership over the years. We have used all of the facilities including classes, personal training, pool, spa, and cafe. Our kids were members until they aged out of our family membership. We are so excited that there will be new dedicated Pickleball courts so we can play year round. It looks like sometimes the front desk will let you through (that's what happened to me) but they're not supposed to, so you may get turned away. (End of edit) I signed up in Bloomingdale, which is closer to where I work, but this location is a bit closer to where I live. It's very similar to other Lifetimes I've been to but the amenities are a little better. They provide toiletries in the locker rooms (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, shaving cream, razors, mouthwash, hair spray, and spray deodorant). The showers have doors instead of curtains (and I think the stalls are bigger?) The water from the water fountains is cold. There are more and newer machines. It's not quite as crowded in the evenings, as well. I love that they have an equipment orientation class (separate from your on boarding session). Since this location has different machines, it gave me the opportunity to learn those, and the instructor was very thorough so I learned even more than I was hoping! My rate is different because my home gym is elsewhere, so your mileage may vary on the value. But this place is NICE. I love it! (Edit: I found out after writing this review that I'm not actually allowed to use this location, and it's an error on the app that it's listed under "Your Clubs". I'm really sad about that because the people here are so nice and helpful! This gym has a lot to offer but not well maintained. I've only been here for a month and in my month, there has been a 5 or 6 treadmills not working with nothing done about it. I just expected more from a gym that charges over $100 a month. The spa is also awful. The facial specialist, Margie, pressured me to get a hydro facial and when I said I wasn't comfortable without talking to a dermatologist, she said "I hate how with social media now people think they know everything." It was absolutely the worst facial of my life. She didn't even do extractions. I could feel it on my face and she did nothing because I didn't purchase the hydrofacial package. I want to love this place, but frankly, you're paying over $100 for a shitty gym and shitty service. read more

I had multiple friends who went to this club only to be let down with their results and their poor customer service. I was at a small boutique for 2 years but it just didn't offer the variety I was seeking so I toured Lifetime. However I was not impressed with the facilities, the pool size was impressive but realistically it was not something I would use as part of my fitness regime in Chicago. Nothing screamed to me as being worth the price. Plus despite its size. it was still too crowded for my taste and the staff and even members seemed snobby. My former Lifetime friends and I decided to try a brand new competitor gym in Lombard, UFC Gym in Yorktown, and will never look back. read more

I love Life Time gyms, but I live in Chicago, so it's too far from me. Today, I tried to visit Hot Yoga session with my friend as a guest. The manager, his name is Yani, is the worst manager ever (or whoever he is). He is so unfriendly and disgusting person, omg. He is probably not happy with his life, so his attitude is just offensive. People like him should work in jails, not at The gyms, where people try to relax. When you work at such a great place, where membership costs a lot, you have to be nice to members and guests! Karma comes back. When I tried to come in, I felt myself like I'm 13 years old girl, who is trying to steal something. I paid 35$ for 24 hours pass, just because of that guy. When gym shopping- Lifetime was definitely on my list as I needed an upgrade from the gym I had belonged to for over 20 years. Lifetime is a great gym. This location is in their Platinum group which means you pay a little more to join, but they limit the number of people who join so there is never a feeling of the place being overcrowded. No pressure to sign up as the gym really sells itself with a wide range of amenities from a huge indoor and outdoor pool area, to plenty of cardio machines to a weight area that was second to none of the other gyms that I looked at. I also like that they have a climbing wall, two gyms (not that I play basketball but they move the huge Saturday Zumba class into the gym) a spinning studio and two other group class studios. They also have a full salon including massages, nails, facials and hair, a juice and snack area and a child care center. The locker rooms are clean and stocked and if you can't find something you need- there is always someone around to ask. There is even a lounge area in the women's locker room where you can sit and watch TV if you want (not sure who uses this but it's there!) Rates are reasonable compared to other places around that I looked at, and if you want a personal trainer, they have a large staff with varied backgrounds so you can be sure to get someone whose experience matches your needs. I use Dan Rodriguez and while he pushes me, he never makes me feel inadequate which other trainers at other places have done in the past. Let's face it- I'm not trying to be a bodybuilder, just be more in shape! If there is a downside for me, it's the amount of kids that are in the place. Yes they have to be a certain age to be on the floor (and I get a kick out of them coming up and politely asking me if I am done with the machine and then watch them load more weight than I am lifting on the darn thing!) but they are seemingly everywhere from having their birthday party in the party room, to harried parents picking them up out of the day care center. Oh well- it's a little thing and this club is in the middle of suburbia so it's to be expected but I do try to coordinate my workout times a little later in the day so that the "kid factor" is minimized. Plenty of free parking, convenient location to those of us in the "burbs' (and right off of a freeway exit for those of you who are not) this gym pretty much is exactly what I want in a gym. read more

This gym is great! I love all of the aquatic options. I wanted to get back to swimming regularly so this was the main reason that I signed up. Their workout machines are top notch and I have never had any issues with them although some of the treadmills are not available during certain hours. I can't complain about the locker rooms or bathrooms. They are very large and clean. It's too bad that I cannot afford to be a member for more than a few months at a time. If you're to this gym with a full Membership then you best be able to afford it. There are two locations in the entire western suburbs. One at I-88 and Winfield road and the other at the burr ride life center at I-55 and county line rd. Both serve a very lucrative and wealthy area. Naperville, burr ridge, hinsdale, Wheaton, warrenville, downers grove, etc. that means tens of thousands of people probably go to both in one week! It's no X sport... The facilities are both extremely clean! I mean immaculately clean. Marble floors throughout and an expansive workout area. The staff at both are very friendly and from what I see the management at Burr Ridge is a bit more easy going than at the Winfield/Warrenville local. Both buildings are the EXACT same. Everything from The locker rooms, the pools, work out areas etc. even the equipment is the same. Leaves me to believe that it's a bit too structured... But everything is laid out by work out type which is great for a beginner and even veteran exercisist haha There are over 2 dozen treadmills and multiples of the same machine. Could be one to two more benches for presses but oodles of free weights. There are an abundance of machines with a machine for each muscle group. I had worked my hams, quads, glutes, obliques and managed to get pecks, traps, deltoids, and tri/bi all done that day. The pools are both well chlorinated and clean. The hot tub is about 104°, and the sauna was about 185°. Perfect. You can be here for three to four hours and not even realize it. As for over crowding I've come on weekends later than 8 always and it's never over crowded. Usually plenty of open locker room space but I can see how these gyms would have the issue during peak hours. Alas due to being about 75-85$ a month I am not a member... Oh well. But they're both nice places if u can afford it and would use it everyday. I mean I hadn't been swimming in months! read more

I can't begin to say how much I love Lift Time Fitness of Burr Ridge, IL!!! I have been a member since 2009. I started with having babies and taking advantage of the child facility. Staff was always amazing with my kids. I still go on a regular basis and use almost everything they have to offer. LOVE IT! The most amazing part of LIFE TIME is the manager, Sheeps! This location lacks customer service, please see other reviews with the same issue. They state long term customers are not afforded the same terms as newer members, it's worse for the established client. They can increase your fees but not provide the better terms given to new clients? Disjointed and bad business. I'm sure there are other gyms eager to earn your business. Corporate needs to take a look at how this specific location (Burr Ridge, IL) treats its customers. I have been going to this club for 5 years. I have gone to a full range of gyms including health clubs, hard core gyms(like USA), Pilates studios, and Orange Theory. They all have their own little niche, but Lifetime really has it all. The facility is like a resort, the staff is friendly(Denise at the front desk), Matt my trainer is the best, and they are constantly upgrading their equipment and amenities. The fellow clients and whole environment are the reason workouts are never skipped. It's the best overall fitness experience out there. read more

I hate the fact that I have to give them one star. Because they don't deserve a rating so high! The gym itself is okay. They have plenty of equipment and the pool is nice. This is the only reason I wouldn't give them negative stars. When I joined the gym, I joined because they were having a flash 4 hours sale. The sale was on New Year's Day ( a few years back) for 40 dollars a month for life! That's right, a great price. It was for one person and it did not allow you to bring guests. After a few years I noticed my bill changed. So I called. This is when the issues started. They simply told me that they had a change in policy and could no longer honor the old lifetime rate. So they would always make sure I hade the lowest rate possible. When I complained more, they did nothing. Trying to talk to a manager that is not a meathead is impossible. I wanted my promised rate and a refund for the overcharges. After a few months of fighting I joked a different gym. I called to cancel my membership. I was told I could not this over the phone. I was told I needed to make an appointment. Which is absolutely insane. So after this went on for a few weeks I simply called Amex and put a stop on this criminal charges. After this Lifetime started sending the bills to my house. This went on for several months. Finally I had to have a lawyer send them a letter to stop the harassment! My contract that they did not honor was very clear I could cancel anytime. Unless you enjoy dealing with meatheads that have no clue about business and like bait and switch, do NOT join this gym! Many other great small local gyms in the area that don't play games. read more
