This seemed like a cool place to hang out, so we stopped by for drinks. They have happy hour from 6-8pm. We came by around 7 and realized that this place was dead. There were a few people by the bar, but that's is. We were approached by some people telling us about some special ice cream that gives you energy before we could even walk in. It seemed skeptical, so we grabbed a table in the back. The bar was cool with car frames hanging on the ceiling. We got passion fruit mezcal margarita. The rim was lined with some red salt that was not tasty and our drinks were different shades of yellow (should be the same drink). It was not a good margarita by any means. I don't taste any passion fruit and it was one of the worst cocktails I've had here. The servers were smoking around us and it seemed like they gave the wrong bill to one of the other customers next to us. We quickly got our bill and left after the one drink I couldn't even finish. Not sure if it was an off night, but we won't be back. FYI the bathrooms here are nasty. Door won't close and no lids on the toilets. Save your pesos and go else where. read more

This was one of the places we went on the last night of our trip, and it was such a fun way to end it! The music played was some old favorites, and definitely got some guests singing along. We thought we'd get some dessert to end the night, but it was such a lively atmosphere we opted for drinks instead. We had cairpirhinas and mojitos and they were excellent. I also thought that the prices were great compared to others we saw in the area. Twice during our time there, the bartenders (men) were dancing up on their bars, taking their shirts off, and pouring alcohol on themselves. They totally gathered a crowd with their performance, and they had so much fun with it! They even threw one of their shirts into the crowds/tables and I was a lucky one to catch one - on my birthday! Probably one of the highlights of my trip to Tulum. A hipster ice cream dive bar with THE COOLEST staff. From fresh coconut ice cream to coffee mescal ice cream - vegan options too - these boys make some great ice cream. Not to mention they have beer, wine and mescal, which they serve in repurposed cups made by the staff. But THE BEST part of our 5-hour experience at this bar was the service. TRAVELERS BEWARE!!! I visited this place because of all of the great reviews. Tulum is an amazing place overall, that is typically drama free but this place has had numerous negative incidents for foreigners and, although I will not be going back, I do want to make sure to warn you about this place in case you decide to visit. (Although I would simply avoid at all costs). Reopening of restaurants and bars should be meticulous with creating a positive vibe for guests, especially post-Covid 19. Instead, this place is littered with cartel drug dealers who are stationed outside and constantly float around inside harassing men & women alike. We recently went there to have a quick drink after a birthday dinner nearby. Immediately upon arriving, we were asked multiple times if we wanted drugs and politely declined each time. We sat down and ordered drinks. Shortly after, one of the drug dealers was pissed off because we didn't buy any drugs and started taunting the females we were with. We should have left at that moment but decided to stay. A couple of minutes later, the same drug dealer came from behind and punched my male friend in the head twice. We immediately got up and barked at him to leave but he only moved to a different area of the bar. The employees/staff of the venue saw everything happen but didn't do anything to assist. In fact, they seemed to know this guy and let him continue to harass guests. So we ended up leaving right away to avoid having the situation escalate. I'm extremely disappointed with the way the venue handled this situation. They encouraged having these people around harassing their guests. They offered no support and no reassurance of safety. Please PROCEED WITH CAUTION if you go here. I honestly recommend skipping this all together. read more

We ordered the pastor and deep fried dish tacos, OHHHHH BOY, it was one of the best tacos I've ever had. I wish I could go back because I definitely miss it. I remember this spot from the last time I came to Tulum. I remember the amazing energy from all the guys that worked here and how much of a good time they were having. Chanting "I Scream" and dancing around. Their joy is infectious. I was happy to get a chance to make it back this time around, though it was a bit earlier in the day and more relaxed. I remember the ice cream being impossibly strong the last time, but this year they measured out a shot and gave it to us to pour into the ice cream of our choice. I loved this bar! The concept and name is genius, a bar that serves drinks and liquors made of Ice Cream. Don't get me wrong they have regular specialty mixers and fine cocktails as well, but on a hot day in Talum, who won't go for some ice cream with a kick! The bar is located in the main strip or Hotel/Resort road. There two main sections to Talum, El Pueblo which is the main town, and the resort and hotel area, that's where I Scream Bar is located right off the main hotel road. It's an outside bar with plenty of seating. The bar is very chill with a soho/bali type of feel. We had a Maracuya (Passion Fruit) and Plátano (Banana) Ice Cream with Tequila. Genius!!! Very delicious and I'm telling you, there generous with the alcohol. There's a menu for Mexican food and other authentic Mexican dishes. Keep in mind, this is an open area, plenty of people during the night time. There's dancing, drinking, smoking of the regular and Mary Jane type of you know what I mean, it's one of the hot spots in the area. No formal dress attire... I'd go as far as saying that if you're staying on this stretch of beach in Tulum, I Scream is a must stop. From the same people that run Taqueria Eufemia, it's a fully outdoor bar constructed of heaps of junk--a whole dissembled car, old television sets--with awesome and inexpensive drinks, great music, and good vibes. I didn't try any of their vegan ice cream, but their drinks are all 2-for-1 during happy hour between 6-8pm. At $100 pesos per drink, it's a great bargain. We stopped by this lively dive bar on our way back from the mayan clay spa. The place was very casual and fun. We ordered the el pastor taco which was flavorful, the fish was also good; however, the chicharron taco was for some reason slimy and not appetizing. They only take cash and if you're not privy to cigarettes/ smoking while dining then this is probably not a place for you. We randomly stopped by this bar/restaurant while walking the streets of Tulum and we were not disappointed. Super cute spot where locals and tourists were eating. We ordered the mixed seafood ceviche, beer tacos, guacamole, and fresh coconuts for drinks. Everything was delicious! Our waiter was using a machete to cut our coconuts while the chef was cooking our beef fajitas right next to us. Our food came out quick. We dropped by in the afternoon and Anthony at the bar sensed our interest in Mezcal.... he gave us an impromptu tasting session, complete with educational info about varieties and history. I came to this food spot because I had seen a few photos on Instagram of a little blue vintage car that was parked against the fence across the road and wanted to take one myself (#noshame). The blue car had been moved, but we were super hungry (borderline hangry) by the time we got there, so we took a seat. And I am so glad we did (thank you, Instagram)! I think I ate tacos almost every day in Tulum and eating here was no exception. We got three types of tacos - two of them, I don't remember. The third one, however, were octopus tacos and DAMN those things were delicious! If/when you go here, please...order some octopus tacos and tell me how much you love them! I also ordered the strawberry ice cream, which they mix with any alcohol you want. I forget what I got, but it got me nice and tipsy. The only thing was that the ice cream was too cold for it to melt and mix with the alcohol. So that could have been better. But it was cool to try. And again, it did the job. =P I wish I had tried the coconut ice cream, but they didn't have any left! The servers were really friendly and helpful. And the ambiance was great! The menus are old car visors and the entire place has a really cool vibe. Oh, and some locals mentioned that in the evening, they let you smoke weed (if you're into that). This is probably my favorite restaurant while in Tulum! People chant "I scream Bar!" when someone is entering or leaving their area. Their fish tacos were the best tacos I've had while staying in Tulum, Mexico. Happy hour includes 2 margaritas for the price of one! Try their mango flavor, I tried the pineapple and strawberry but for some reason those flavors had stronger alcohol than the mango one. We had banana flavor ice cream which is not usual here in California but I love banana flavor so I loved it! Our server was so nice too, I forgot his name! Be careful! I was drugged and robbed here a few nights ago. My hotel tells me it's not the first time at this bar. They had three guests get drugged here this year! I am a solo traveler and the bar was a few steps from my hotel. I came here, had a few drinks, met some people, and after 11pm I don't remember a single thing.
