The dealers are salt of the earth farm boys sprinkled with a few Amish. Everyone is very friendly and willing to dicker. There are 2 buildings with dealers but most set up outside under little pop ups. Today was ok with about 60 dealers. We saw some nice antique farm implements and assorted military and fishing collectibles. We have attended on 5 star days. The offering changes from week to week. A food truck and small cafe provide assorted breakfast and lunch fare. I have not tried the food because it is mostly fried. There is plenty of parking and restroom facilities. It's like one big family after you go to a couple auctions you get to know each other and you might fight like family every once in a while too just to get that one thing that you really have to have just because somebody else wants it sometimes. This place will make you laugh as well. They have some pretty good jokes going when they are on a roll. But some of my favorite parts about it is what you learn at the auction. There's a lot of history being told and you get to see some really cool items at Baxter Auction. Bill actually has run the longest auction of all time and there's pretty good stories about it. And you really must go to the kitchen and try the chicken salad and sausage and gravy, but you better get there early cause it goes fast even if she makes tons of it. If you like dolls and tools, they have some of the best well-known auctions in town for that ...and if you like old tools or clocks, same thing. You just can't find a better group of people anywhere please go and enjoy yourself.

Then when he wrote up the final settlement, he not only charged the a greed amt of 25% which was $235.38 but added in a website fee of $100.00, a clerks fee of $100.00 and a cashier(his wife) a fee of $200.00. In addition to this his wife was very rude to me when I caught them selling an item that was not in the sale and insisted on getting it back. one star was the least I cld give them but they deserve none

There was an attendee who literally kept putting himself in front of others and reaching across and bumping others, interrupting the auctioneer. The auctioneer helped quell the actions of this person and everything went back to normal. It was nice to see that the auctioneer was attentive to the situation and stop a possible problem. I'm only giving them three stars because they did have some unique items inside. We did encounter two problems during our visit. The first was simply getting into the shop. There aren't any regular steps into the shop entrance. They have two unusually shaped stones stacked upon each other without any handrails to hold on as you step up into the shop. My wife has some physical restrictions and I had to hold her hand just to get her into the shop safely. I can't imagine how difficult to enter if there was ice. The second problem was that in the time we browsed through the shop, not one person appeared from the front of the building (maybe they live there?) We could see people through an open door but I felt uncomfortable walking through. So, nobody on duty to answer questions or help make a purchase. No bell to ring, or sign to welcome visitors back to the other part of the building. I honestly have no idea if they knew we were there. You will also notice that there is a strong smell of a home where smoking once was prevalent. I imagine that if you bought some wood or fabric items, you would have to leave them out to get rid of the odor. In fairness, I did see a number of unique items and the shop itself was easy to get around. The upstairs was closed off, so I don't know if there is anything up there worth viewing. Note: I also didn't see much lighting materials as is listed in the Yelp business name. There were a few fixtures and shades, but not so much that I would add it to the name. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in the lack of attention the owners/managers put into improving the customer experience. It wouldn't be that difficult to install some safety measures and some sort of plan to let them know they have customers. Review #2211

We bought a beautiful architectural antique piece and an iron "dog head" leash holder - both are unique and were well priced. We're actually sorry we wavered on a painting and will be going back next week crossing fingers that it is still there. This is exactly the kind of shop you're hoping to find when you think about going "antiquing" in a lovely, lazy little brick-paved historic district.

So one of my fellow "junk" loving girlfriends invited me along with her and her Dad to the auction. My home is decorated primarily in what I would call shabby chic style and I have a love for all things vintage and antique. Paired with my love for upcycling, I was excited to check this out. We arrived an hour before the auction. The auction house/resale booth space is located inside the old Marsh store. We wanted to check out the resale booths and then all the things going up for auction so we could scope out anything we may want to bid on. You sign up for an account and number to bid at the front desk/old customer service booth. All you need is your phone number and license. It's free, quick and easy. After looking over the items we had interest in, we found our seats and got ready to bid. The auctioneer started things off with an extremely long prayer, which I found to be a little odd and not my thing, but whatever. I don't find that to be an appropriate place to do such a thing, but to each his own. The auction moved kind of slow for awhile. It was a tad annoying the way some things that really should have been sold as lots, were separated out into individual or small groups of items. It really slowed things up. After awhile, over half the people there left and they finally started grouping more things and selling things as full collections, groups, or boxes and it sped things up to a much more reasonable pace. Also, if you come here in the summer, I advise wearing something that covers the back of your thighs. I had on shorts and had to carefully and slowly peel the back of my thighs from the seat BEFORE trying to stand up. Several people chuckled and made comments the first time I stood up quickly, none the wiser, and had to bite back a scream from the pain of the seat ripping from my skin. I was advised it's a necessity to either wear pants of bring a seat cover, like several people had. In all, we had a good time and got some amazing deals on some really great pieces. I walked away spending right at $20 for many great vintage and antique pieces that, if I wanted to, I could resale and profit at least a couple hundred dollars. Obviously selection and items will always vary and you won't always get that lucky. But this was definitely a great auction night for us.

But they always try to disclose that in the listing. And they do encourage you to stop by and inspect prior to bidding. If you want guaranteed "perfect" items, go to a retail store and pay full price. BUT if you love the thrill of the hunt and are smart about your bids, you'll often save 90% or more. I'm not kidding when I say I've gotten AMAZING high end museum quality furniture for mere dollars versus thousands of dollars. Not one, but TWO gorgeous FOUR HANDS chairs in an unopened brand new box for $9??? HECKY YA. IYKYK. sadly, they don't have quite as many furniture auctions as before, but believe me when I say there is no shortage of incredible stuff (parfum de marly & sisley black rose cream mask...yes, please!)...from amazing lighting fixtures to flooring, this is the place to come to. And the employees, as well as the other customers, are sweet as pie. Skylar, the auction manager, has always been super accomodating and is just a joy and Ive loved getting to know everyone there this past year. And if ever I look extra crazy with my "haul" and I need assistance loading things, they (and even other customers!) jump right in Haters gone hate... but that just means more dealz for us peeps willing to put in a lil extra time & effort Highly recommend!

The smaller items (home goods, sporting goods, electronics) are AWFUL! I get that its an auction, but EVERYTHING IS BROKEN, DAMAGED OR MISSING PARTS! I spent $70 this last week, and nothing is usable but the boxes! Ive purchased busted sporting goods, a pair of shoes where one was missing, and some headsets that were leaking battery acid! I loved the rug I bought that had cat pee and stains all over it! I left it there!! Im not throwing away their garbage!! This week, I bought a pressure cooker that's base was smashed in! They hid it in the box so u find it when u get home! Even if u do discover while your there, they wont do anything because "its an auction. U should come here and inspect before bidding". Who has time for that - dont list obviously broken stuff!! Pkus, everything is absolutely filthy!! If want to wash your hads, the bathroom is worse than an outhouse!! It smells like you're standing in a sewer - NOT KIDDING!! Will not spend another dime here, and I will tell others to stay away!!!
