When I reiterated all I cared about was the washer/dryer working reliably, he assured me the quicker fix would work as long as I didn't plug any heavy duty equipment like a humidifier or AC unit into the other GCFI outlet in the laundry room. I assured him I wouldn't, paid him and he left. My first load with the washer and the exact same problem happened, showing zero progress after his work. When I asked him to come back, he was suddenly unavailable for weeks, gave me a bunch of excuses and told me to hire someone else.

I called to see if…read moreI could set up an appointment to find out how much to expect to pay to get our dishwasher to work. They got back to me right away and we were able to set up the appointment. On the day of the appointment they called and said they'd be late. They asked if it looked like the pictures in the real estate listing (we recently purchased the house), which it does and they tried to diagnose the problem from those pictures. When I explained that the actual issue was not visible in the pictures, they asked to reschedule for the next day. Then they were late the next day as well. When they did show up they looked at it and said something along the lines of "yep, it doesn't work" And by "looked" I mean they stood in the center of the room and looked at the sink and dishwasher. Didn't look at any of the wiring or fuses or anything. I had to keep asking questions to get them to actually look at the electrical work, get any idea of if it was something that they could fix ("probably"), and how much it would cost ("maybe $100"). Weeks later I was having a new dishwasher installed and the dishwasher tech took one look and said it looked like the dishwasher itself was fried and that the wires looked good and that the new dishwasher should work fine. (new dishwasher didn't fit though, so we're still waiting to see if that's the case). Now, a month after the person from Adams came out, I get an invoice for $54. I don't mind paying for quotes for things as I understand that time is money, but $54 for lateness, 5 minutes, a "yep it doesn't work.", and pulling teeth for answers seems a bit excessive. So, I'll be finding another electrician to work with if the new dishwasher doesn't work.
