The food is great (pork and steaks) but not great for families as it doesn't have a wide range of options and seems more like a romantic restaurant. The steak was a little too raw for our liking but they were very understanding and accommodating to cook the meat some more (even if it is customary for Florentine steak to be eaten rare). First things first: You need a reservation. We saw multiple groups come by and turned away. Overall the food was great, especially after a week of mainly pizza and pasta. The steak must have weighed at least two pounds with the bone. The wine was the best we have had in Italy so far, but I am not a wine person, so that is not saying too much or maybe it is? As we had 1 L of it and we're loving how it paired with the steak. We barely had room for the vegetables, but for what we were able to squeeze in around the steak, they were delicious and perfectly grilled. For those looking for a nice night out, this place was great, I thought it to be very reasonable priced for all the food we had and the quality. My mother and I stumbled upon this place when we were visiting Florence. We love how they use plates that are plant based. The porchetta was AMAZING! This place was rad, but very edgy, going for the cool factor. Basically it's a converted garage with rocky floors and graffiti walls where we had a $400 dinner. Now the food..... it as really good. We had both types of steaks and they were awesome. AC doesn't work well, they had the door open but it was unseasonably hot. Overall was a great dining experience. read more

We visited the I Tuscani 4 location on Via dei Vagellai 16R in May 2018 while on vacation in Florence. The service was second to none, atmosphere very authentic and the food was just amazing! We tried to go to 3 but it was closed. Turns out they don't serve bistecca at lunch anyway. But the steak was just not that deliciousness that we have had in Florence in the past. We got the Chiania that they butcher themselves but the first steak was impossible to cut through. So the waitress went back and chose another steak for us. While that was easier to slice, it just didn't have the flavor it should have and the exterior char was not tasty. My husband ate his with relish but having been to Florence multiple times and had the bistecca alla fiorentina often, I was really disappointed. I like rare steaks but this was just cold. And for 90 euros, it should have been spectacular. House wine was nice. The atmosphere is a little odd, being basically in a garage. While I applaud the restaurant's zero impact policies, I just can't recommend the steaks here. read more

A little weird start as we couldn't figure out how to get in the restaurant - 2 idiots we were hahaha- then we entered - the people were so warm and welcoming. Plate, cups and napkins are "green". A nice touch. We went for the 70EU dinner which came with a house salad of bread, tomatoes cucumbers, onions in an edible cracker bowl! Very cool. The house wine was yummy. Really charming atmosphere with chalkboard walls and accolades about the steak from past eaters from all over the world. Then the beautiful steak comes out - perfectly cooked and perfectly tender - I've had steaks in NY that are 2-3 times the cost and not even a quarter as good as this steak. I just have to tell you: everything we ate was to die for. Which opened my eyes why dining and dying sound so similar. You'll dine here and you'll be ready to leave your earthly life. We had the prime selection menu, the one with bistecca florentina. Of course. Because we came to Florence not for the dome but for the bistecca. I kid you not. Well. Maybe just a little. Some restaurants they start with a little greeting from the kitchen. A shy hi from the chef, saying: welcome. But here they opened with a big bang! Salumi and cheese. They screamed: HELLO TASTEBUDS, are you ready??!! Hell yes! The boar mortadella with truffles was - guess what?- to die for. And that chianina carpaccio. Little delicate slices I want to carry around in my wallet for little gourmet emergencies. So good. Then. "Drum roll". The. BISTECCA!! Every bite was a pleasure. Even if the size were triple the size. We would have eaten every single piece. We cleaned that bone like hungry piranhas. Gnagggnaggga! :)) Oh well. One can not eat only. One has to drink, too. Oh boy, how well we accomplished that part. To be honest I can't remember the wine but the grappa. OMG YUM! Some amazing steaks here from their own grass fed cattle. If you are in the area make a reservation ASAP as they are always booked every night. House wine is excellent and the olive oil is smooth. You get veggies and roasted potatoes with your meat options as well. If you're in Florence please do yourself a favor and go to I'Tuscani II! This place was our food highlight of a recent trip to Italy. First, make sure to get reservations. I was able to make them the same day but they definitely were necessary. The space is very small and intimate (maybe 5 tables in a room). We walked in and were greeted by what appeared to be the owner/manager. He and the servers clearly know each other well and have a great system for working with customers. The whole thing just felt like a fun visit to your cool friend's house. The food was phenomenal. It's a steakhouse so you really ought to get the steak (or meat of some type). There were a few appetizers but mostly for posterity. You know you're here for one thing: rare-ity rare cooked steak. I ordered the one-person special. It's about a kilo of delicious T-bone steak from some Vespa-riding Tuscan cows. They cook it fast and they cook it hot. Perfect sear and lots of red on the inside. It was masterful. In addition you get some nicely grilled veggies, bread, and (my favorite) a half-liter of wine in a kool-aid man style pitcher. My partner got the burger which is just the very large patty grilled. No toppings, sauces, or bun. It also comes with the veggies, bread, and haaaaalf-liter of wine! (Seriously, they just throw wine at you in Italy). By the end of the meal we're stuffed, a little drunk, and feel like we've made best friends with our waiter. That's when he steps it up and brings out 9 bottles of digestives. These are liquors meant to be drank as a small shot after eating to "help digestion". The server walked us through the different types and then took a shot with us. Such a fun experience. We ordered the hamburger, the mixed grilled meat and a focaccia sandwich and everything, including the accompanying vegetables, was delicious and reasonable. This was hands down the best meal we had in Florence. While we have been pleased with all the meals we have had, this one was different. The steak was cooked to perfection and you get so much food and wine for a good price. My wife and I spent one day in Florence last Friday and looked up a good place for Florentine steak and ran across very positive reviews for I'Tuscani 2. Based on the reviews and photos, we emailed for a reservation at 7pm and heard back within the hour that our reservation was accepted. While exploring the area close to the restaurant around 4pm (just to make visual contact and understand where the restaurant was) we ran into the restaurant manager outside, whom surprisingly invited us in to give us a private tour during the off hours. The manager was extremely nice and informative and also gave us a sample of meats and cheeses as well as wine. He was very welcoming despite the restaurant being between lunch and dinner shifts and our reservation hours away. We ultimately ended up staying for the entire 3 hours leading up to our reservation and had a great time. Once 7pm rolled around we ordered the steak and it was fantastic and exceeded expectations set by the positive reviews. It was the best steak we've had and also a great story for us during our short trip in Italy. We spent three days in Italy (Milan, Florence, and Rome for one day each) and the highlight was the hospitality, quality, and authenticity of the experience we had at I'Tuscani 2.
