We went here for a nice steak dinner. It was recommended to us by one of our tour guides. The ambience was nice, but the food was not good. We ordered steak frites and fries. We asked for the steak to be cook medium well with only a little bit of pink. Unfortunately, it came out bloody and raw. We had to send it back to be cooked again. The fries and steak needed a lot of salt. Once the steak came out again, it was still pinker than we liked, but we tried to eat it. It was really fatty and rubbery. It wasn't because it was cooked that way. Our friends ordered steak and they like it rare. They said their steak was rubbery too. The service was also lacking. The server disappeared and never checked back with us on the food. Then, they tried to overcharge us by $40. I pointed out the error and they only partially fixed it. I had to have them correct it again. There was no apology for their error or food. We were disappointed with the quality, service and price. The next day we went to another steak place we saw two doors away from that place. It was called La Cantinetta Osteria con Cucina. It wasn't busy or fancy, but the food and service was amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a real steak with good service. I would go there in a heartbeat if I am ever in Firenze again. read more

Probably the most popular steakhouse in Florence. We gotta try the Florentine steak. After consulting the server, we got the local Italian beef (forgot its name, but the fattier one). The steak came out with great presentation. Sizzling on a hot plat. Giant piece of meat. We easily finish all the meat, so it was good. The steak tasted normal though - not as beefy as dry aged beef, or not as flavorful at some other places i have tried (Porteno in Sydney), Just regular red meat taste. A little not salty enough. For sure not the best steak i have ever eaten. Probably due to the simple way how Florentine steaks are cooked. The tiramisu was also mid. Servers were somehow all non-Italian (Indians), so that gave me a touristy vibe. But whatever lol. Trattoria dall'Oste is a popular restaurant in Florence and there are multiple locations to choose from. Restaurant is known for its for its steaks and pasta. Since we knew we couldn't finish the gigantic Florentine steak, we opted for the rib eye steak. I was particularly impressed with the steak. It was surprisingly tough considering it was rib eye. Did not notice much marbling on the rib eye either. On the other hand, I did enjoy the Beef Ragu as it provided tender chunks of beef in a tomato and carrot based ragu sauce. Very tasty and the pasta was tender and good bite to it. The service was subpar and uneven for us. Nobody even acknowledged us for 10 min after we sat and I had to flag someone to help us. The waiter seemed disinterested and just asked whether we are ready to order. Seems like they didn't know who was supposed to serve my table. Oh well. Blown away by the Bistecca alla Florentina! You could definitely make a reservations because it gets very busy. We decided to have an early dinner and luckily were able to get a table right away. The restaurant is low lighting and very clean. The T-Bone steak was phenomenal! It came on a hot plate which made it fun to cook the steak to your liking! The amount of steak that it comes in is plenty to share. The side grilled vegetables we got were kind of cold and so we actually put it on the hot plate to warm it up and it was delicious! We came here our first night in Florence. This restaurant was highly recommended by our hotel and TripAdvisor. We did not have a reservation but at 8:00pm we had no problem getting a table. We were seated quickly and the service was excellent. The server explained the traditional Florentine steak and best options for ordering. We ordered a 1.2 Kg steak for 2 people, cooked the traditional style rare to medium rare. We added arugula salad and grilled vegetables. The steak was served on a sizzling hot cast iron serving platter. It was absolutely amazing, cooked to perfection. The salad and vegetables were also delicious and all were good size portions. We also ordered a nice bottle of wine and the service presentation was perfect. The waiter ensured we tasted the wine and that the glasses were perfectly decanted. We wrapped up the meal with tiramisu and dessert wine. Both were delicious and the portions were perfect. Overall this was a great meal and the ambiance was very pleasing. We were in Florence with a Tauck tour and one of our fellow travelers had heard about this place from a friend of theirs. He and his wife invited me and my husband to go to dinner with them here. We had an 8:30 reservation and the place was already packed. The restaurant has plenty of appetizers and pastas, but their signature dish is steak. I will say, we wished they would have shown us the cut beforehand, because it was a little fattier than we would have liked it. Buyer beware! Every meal in Florence over the course of the week was fantastic! This was meh at best.Biggest letdown was the $75 steak my son endured-not well seasoned and incredibly disappointing as he's an absolute steak nerd. At the end of the meal the waiter verbally declared that the bil, as is customary throughout Florence, did not contain a tip. This "apparently" top tier restaurant should be embarrassed for so blatantly pandering at the table for a tip that's already established in the menu prices and in the expected table charges already contained in the bill. So, if you wish to experience the only restaurant in all of Florence to behave in such an inhospitable, low class manner, then by all means give it a try. There are countless other options worth your time and money. We wouldn't return if they comped a free meal given the initial experience. Immediately upon walking in, grabbing our reserved table was a little hard and to be frank kind of cold as we waited in that hallway with meats in the window. We got escorted to a table in the foreign people section I'm sure as all of them were Asian just like us so I wasn't sure if this was racial profiling or like just a foreign thing to grab a waiter who will try to fill our nights with jokes that we don't really get because he was very witty and very rude but somehow managed to make us laugh by the end of the night or maybe it was just the amount of steak we ate we just thought his comments were just insane and ridiculous. Definitely don't come for service. The Wagyu was the fave and honestly our waiter did good in recommending this as the Wagyu is from Venice Italy. We also ordered the porter from Italy as well to try it and the Wagyu was melting in your mouth like butter! The porter was good too I enjoy the fat parts here as they have a bit of a good crunch to the meat. The salad had no dressing just so you know, and the potatoes were soooo good but they're boiled so just precaution if you're an American searching for fried potatoes - it's not. HOWEVER I love these potatoes since they're boiled and buttery. Quite in fact suits the steak since the steak is already so heavy. I loved the steak here and since we don't tip I guess service doesn't matter here in Italy. Food is amazing and very worth while. There is a lot of competition in Florence for bistecca Fiorentina but for me the combination of the high quality of the food, the extensive and incredible wine list and the attentive staff make this place the overall choice. One of my bigger pet peeves. Combined with a few other interesting happenings during our evening it was just not the service we'd prefer. While walking back to our Hotel while visiting Fienza from Florida USA, we stopped in Trattoria Dali Oste and glad we did. First we were lucky to get a table just walking in without a reservation. There were four of us adults. My wife got a pasta dish and my sister her husband and I got a group T-bone steak meal which included salad drink and meat and cheese appetizer for 41 euros each. I've had the rib steak, it was just OK maybe even a little less than OK the external presentation of the steak had flaky charred things from the grill grate. It certainly was not a clean presentation, no garnish, just a steak on a plate. I've had much better steaks from Texas roadhouse in the US. Florence aka Firenze! Italy back in June 23' and this restaurant was a "spur of the moment" decision because the original restaurant we wanted to go to was closed as were most of them during this time. Not to mention we were own our way to an Air bnb! Trattoria Dall'oste was located right near the train station at a high traffic area. We were there about 45 minutes before opening and some employees were inside. I asked if we needed to have reservations which was stated on their website, but they made accommodation for us (we did have luggage with us as well) which was very nice. We were first in like and as soon as 30 mins before opening come around the line was wrapped around the building. The first thing that stood out was that this restaurant was labeled Worlds 101 best steakhouse restaurant in the world & I definitely see why, especially after being around my fair share of steakhouses. The decor and ambiance on the inside was aesthetically pleasing and that of a typical steakhouse. We had to stop overindulging in the complimentary bread, balsamic vinegar and olive oil I ordered the Rucola e pecorino which is sliced beef steak with rocket salad and pecorino cheese. The meat was well seasoned, flavorful, and super tender. I ordered mine medium rare which was cooked to perfection. The addition of the salad (beneath the meat) and the pecorino cheese gave it just the right amount of healthy and saltiness that satisfied my pallet. My mother in law ordered a Spritz ( Aperol, Prosecco, and tonic water) which you can find on almost every menu in Italy because it is a staple drink. For her main dish she ordered the Tortellini Di palate Mugellani Al Ragu Toscana which is the spaghetti pasta noodles with Chianina meat sauce. She stated it was the best Spritz in Italy she's had and her pasta was great as well My wife ordered standard spaghetti which she thought was great. Our waiter was great! Customer service gets an A ! The steak is served on a hot plate and the cut is a combination of a NY strip and a filet mignon. I mean, the steak was absolutely divine. Cooked to utter perfection and was promptly devoured. My husband made reservations 6 MONTHS ago and had been so excited to have the Florentine steak! He has been talking about this for months. This place is over-blown. We ordered the 1,2kg chianineria steak rare/medium-rare, verdure alla griglia, and a glass of wine. No, they only sell bottles of wine, waiter leaves. (Next table gets a half-sized bottle) so he flags down our waiter and asked for the half-sized bottle. The wine never showed up. I don't think we actually got the particular steak we ordered. The filet mignon portion of the t-bone wasn't connected to the steak and was about a centimeter shorter than the bone it was supposed to be attached to. It was cooked medium and no red. There was absolutely NO flavor to this piece of meat. There was salt and pepper on the table, which was useful. We were served a bowl with potatoes, which we didn't order and the vegetables never arrived. I am so embarrassed to be posting this but I am SO MAD that you let my husband down! This place is a mess. So famous that two restaurants in Florence made the list for Top 50 steakhouses in the world. And it's not that expensive (coming from california where one steak alone is an arm and a leg).
