It wasn't terrible. I actually thought the rigatoni dish was the best I came across in Florence but I wouldn't go back for it, 6.8/10. It was a bit too cheesy for me and the sauce really just tastes like Mariana without a depth of flavor. The chicken is as bland as you can expect. I don't recommend ordering this. The chocolate cake is very rich and if you like that you will like this. The service was average. First of all, Mikael (sp?) saved our evening. He was one of the best servers we have had in Italy. The food was fantastic! Get the rigatoni and the florentine steak. I understand why it was voted one of the top in Florence! The host is una testa di culo. First 2 minutes in the door and he yelled at us, interrogated us and was absolutely horrible. I made a reservation for lunch for a party of five, but upon entering I don't think I needed one. They had 2-3 more inner rooms with lots of seating. It was pretty tight to walk around. They started us with bread. We had these giant heavy plates at each seat. I wasn't sure if there were chargers or if they were meant to have food on them. Instead of balsamic vinegar, they had red wine vinegar (?). Service was good. I'm not sure they speak English, but it seemed they understood our English. Our server recommended the artichoke €15. This was good to try. Pear and pecorino salad €14 was ok. Pappardelle with wild boar ragu €15 was served almost cold. The meat was dry. Veal steak €24 was good. Tiramisu €7 was excellent. Our bottle of water Aqua Panna was €4,50. Maybe we didn't order the right things? Maybe my expectations were too high? I'm not understanding why this place had such high ratings on Google. Our experience at this restaurant was honestly shocking and completely ruined what had otherwise been a wonderful time in Florence. From the moment we arrived, the waiter was extremely rude and dismissive. Instead of greeting us or explaining the situation, he abruptly told us to leave and wait on the curb outside with no explanation whatsoever. His tone was condescending and made it very clear that he had no interest in serving us or having our business. We were left standing outside confused and embarrassed, while other guests were being seated without any issue. A simple explanation or basic courtesy would have gone a long way, but instead we were treated like an inconvenience. Florence is full of incredible restaurants and warm hospitality, which made this experience stand out for all the wrong reasons. Unfortunately this place showed neither professionalism nor respect to potential customers. I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant and choosing one of the many other welcoming places in the city instead. read more

This place is a solid 3, the restaurant itself based on looks and vibe i give a 5. Service was a 5. We got right in so that was nice also. The only reason im giving them a 3 is because im soley rating the food. Its been a tough journey looking for the best pasta in florence that isnt touristy. We visited 13 Gobbi tonight with our family and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The food was marginal at best. The eggplant dish arrived tasting completely scorched and burnt -- it was inedible for us. We spoke with a waiter and asked for it to be taken back because we could not eat it. However, when we later requested that it be removed from the bill, we were told that another staff member claimed the plate had been cleaned and that we needed to pay for it. That was simply not true. We did not eat it because it was terribly unpleasant. The service overall was poor. We were never even offered a wine menu, and the staff seemed disorganized and dismissive when we tried to address the issue. To make matters worse, the tiramisu was also disappointing. With so many incredible restaurants in Florence and throughout Italy, this was by far the worst dining experience we've had here. Social media (especially TikTok) may be trying to make this place famous, but for us, it did not live up to the hype at all. We will not be returning. read more

Absolutely awesome. My wife and I were on a tour in Florence, and our tour guide (who is originally from Florence, mind you), recommended Gobbi for Florentine Steak. Everyone there seemed to be having the greatest time, the servers were enormously pleasant and accommodating. But, the thing to mention of course, was the rigatoni and Florentine steak. It is the most famous things on the menu for a reason-- my wife and I were in Italy for 9 more days, and yet THIS was the meal we talked about constantly. Given we had some amazing steak the night before, we pitied for the pasta... going with the house specialty Rigatoni & the Parp. Bolognese... Remains a must on every visit to Florence. The menu was a little bit different this time, but we stuck with a couple of our usuals (the chitarroni and the death row-worthy rigatoni), plus a few new things -- pappa pomodoro, steak for one, chocolate gelato, and cheesecake. They also made an excellent penne with tomato sauce for our three-year old. The pappa pomodoro was great but probably not among my all-time favorite versions. Same with the cheesecake. The steak, though, was one of our favorites from this trip to Florence, and could definitely be worth getting again. (The seasoning on it was maybe my favorite of all the steaks we had this trip.) Also, personally, I'd be fine skipping the chitarroni (it's good, but not other-worldly in my opinion) and just getting two rigatoni dishes going forward, but my wife always insists on the chitarroni. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We came here hoping for a nice final meal on our last night in Florence and left feeling completely ripped off, frustrated, and still hungry. I ordered the pesto gnocchi, which somehow managed to be both soggy and flavorless. No depth, no seasoning--just a sad, green pile of mush. My friend asked for a simple Alfredo sauce, which wasn't on the menu, but the waiter assured us it could be done. She even asked if truffle could be added, and again, the waiter said no problem. BIG problem. What arrived was a plate of noodles swimming in something that tasted like warm dishwater. No flavor. No richness. Absolutely ZERO truffle. If there was even a whiff of truffle in that sauce, I'll eat my passport. The drinks? Just as sad. The espresso martinis were watery and lifeless, and the strawberry spritz tasted like flat soda with a splash of regret. To make things worse, the service was painfully slow. After finishing our disappointing meals, we waited 45 minutes just to be asked if we wanted dessert or the check. At that point, we just wanted to escape. When we finally got the bill, the insult was complete. The bland Alfredo? 22 euro. Why? Apparently the imaginary truffle cost us 10 euro extra. When we politely asked for clarification, the owner got defensive, passive-aggressive, and rude. Absolutely no accountability or concern that we had just paid nearly 100 euro for one of the most underwhelming meals we've ever had. There are hundreds of incredible places to eat in Florence. This is not one of them. If you're into overcooked noodles soaked in warm water, nonexistent truffle, and being overcharged for the privilege--by all means, go. What a mess of a beautiful evening! I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone - native Italian, tourist, or friend. Forget that we had made reservations way in advance & arrived in time for it. The girl "running the front of the house" host area is on a power trip. She looked at my husband's phone showing the reservation and we should have left upon her first reaction of "look around you - everyone is waiting and so will you." But we made the bad decision to stay and hoped she would do right by us. She did not. She kept bringing out glasses of wine to others waiting who could ask in Italian for it. It was insane. I finally had to mention that I had knee surgery and could no longer stand so she ushered me into this crazy busy place and sat me on a stool in the middle of a hallway for servers to get to their tables. When we finally got seated (45 minutes late) we were treated almost like an inconvenience by our server. After a long flight from NY , we found this hidden gem in the old city center of Florence , Italy . If you visit here , must try dish is steak . It is so delicious. We were sat at a table and told to move 45 minutes after we were sat because that was "the managers table". This may have all been of a miscommunication, but their apology was half assed at best. This place came highly recommended, but we did not have a good experience. We had a reservation for 7pm & they opened the doors at around 7:20; ok, that's not a huge deal, but there was quite a line outside by that time. We were given menus that were only printed in English, a sure indication of a touristy place. Our server (who spoke perfect English so there was no language barrier) was rude, impatient, and downright mean to one person in our party. Questions about the menu were met with a heavy sigh of impatience & at one point he told one of us "you don't want that" when she asked a question about something. When asked what he would recommend, he picked the most expensive thing on the menu, of course. We were rushed through our meal, which is very unusual in Florence, and when someone asked for parmesan cheese, he brought a dish to the table, sprinkled some cheese over her pasta & then took the cheese away without a word. Amazing beyond belief! Make a reservation, we booked the 7:30 opening slot and it was crazy how many people showed up for the 7:30 slot. It was amusing watching the people when they guy walked out to invite them in the stormed the door like ants. We stayed back and I took a video it was so nuts, especially the people who had just walked up. We waited until the stampede was over and actually got the best seat in the house. It is a very large restaurant on Italian standards so there was plenty of room for everyone. Our waiter was super nice and actually funny as he was the one that opened the door and his comment to us was "it's gonna be one of those nights". The menu is small and has a wonderful variety. we started off with bruschetta and a delicious pear salad. The bruschetta was extra special because it had fresh anchovies on it and boy you could tell the difference. I could write an entire essay on how bad it was but i'll just be concise: pasta was soft, lots of clam shells but not a single one with clam meat inside and I couldn't find the wine sauce anywhere in the dish.
