The ice cream is not overly sweet, it is simply tasty. The owner helped us and let us try a few flavors. The birthday cake flavor, toasted almond, and cotton candy. All were stand out flavors! More so, the texture was remarkably good for house made ice cream. Anyone can make ice cream, but only a true pro can get it the right consistency, with a proper mouth feel, and balance the sugar. The owner is a down to earth nice man. He is very pleasant and should be very proud of what he does. My husband had the soft serve pistachio/Berry twist. Boy, was that good! I tasted some and the pistachio flavor comes through nicely. I was really worried at first look because when you have dark colors like some of the flavors have, all you taste is food coloring. This is not the case at Tasty Treat. I don't know how he does it, but there are no overpowering tastes in what I tried. This business is a very unassuming stand alone building in a quaint residential neighborhood, but it is so close to the 90. So, no excuse not to briefly exit the Thruway and get a great cup of ice cream! He offers an array of toppings, but I opted to forego any topping on my cotton candy sundae. I just got the ice cream, whipped cream, nuts, and cherry. Try it. The flavor and greatness of the ice cream itself comes through. Next time, we will try some of the food he offers. I'm only sharing this because the note I left myself after eating at Nicky Doodles was: "Utica, bitches." That's right. This is Utica. It's technically New Hartford I guess, but it's as close to Utica as I've ever really gotten. And you know what? I'd come back. Nicky Doodles is basically just a roadside burger stand. It's not fancy, but it hits the spot. I had a burger, my kids had chicken fingers, and we all had fries and ice cream. And all of it tasted good, and it was served up by some nice girls in the window. There's nothing I'd like to change except the fact that one of my kids just seems to use food as a spoon for ketchup. Maybe she'll grow out of it?

The place has an inside counter area with indoor seating with air conditioned comfort. There's also an outside order window and a few purple picnic tables in front (no smoking is allowed in front of the shop, so others can enjoy their ice cream. This is a great rule). I stopped here recently on a very hot Saturday night. Since just ate dinner at a nearby restaurant, I decided to order my dessert at Woody's. I got a double scoop of Colombian Coffee hard ice cream cone, which came out to about $3 and change. The ice cream cone was pretty big and a very refreshing treat for dessert.
