Instead, the family in front of us was handed a separate paper menu from inside. We had no idea that was how ordering worked, so I had to excuse myself past the people in line just to ask for one. It would have been much more customer-friendly if menus were readily available or if there was a sign letting customers know to ask for one. I was very disappointed with my visit. I ordered a hard vanilla ice cream sundae with fudge, peanut butter, and marshmallow, and it was nowhere near worth the $9 I paid. The vanilla ice cream tasted freezer-burned, with a dry, icy texture and a noticeable "crunch" that wasn't from nuts or any toppings, but from the ice crystals in the ice cream itself. It had a stale taste, and the texture made it seem like it had been sitting in the freezer too long. On top of that, there were barely any toppings. The fudge, peanut butter, and marshmallow were so sparse that I honestly wouldn't even consider it a real sundae. For the price, I expected fresh ice cream and generous toppings. Instead, I got what felt like a cup of old ice cream with just a small amount of topping. I don't mind paying premium prices when the quality matches, but this experience was very disappointing, and I wouldn't order it again. Also, there was an older gentleman wearing suspenders who appeared to be the owner or manager. While I was waiting for my order, I watched him speaking to the young employees in a way that came across as rude and dismissive. I obviously don't know what was going on behind the scenes, but from a customer's perspective it was uncomfortable to watch and created an unwelcoming atmosphere. The way employees are treated says a lot about a business, and unfortunately it left a negative impression on me.

The added touch was hearing a customer ahead of us conversing with the owner in Italian which brought back so many fond memories. The shop has three core flavors that are available each day but Monday ( they unfortunately are closed on Mondays) with flavors changing each day so before to check out facebook for the available flavors. They have both dairy and non dairy options but for me my favorite is lemon which is so refreshing on a warm summer day and definitely transported me back to a lovely evening in San Marco's square sitting out and enjoying a cup of Sicilian Lemon Gelato. Not too sweet and just the right combination of tart and sweet. This is a small little store front but they do offer outdoor seating which for me added to the appeal. I've lived in a number of cities around the country and can confidently say that this isn't just the best pastry shop I've tried in Upstate NY, but it's the best I've ever tried. The staff is extremely welcoming, kind, helpful, and patient through the ordering process and I love that it's run and owned by a local family. Although I don't live in the area, I order them frequently to send to friends and family and always visit when I'm in town. I consistently get excellent feedback on how much everyone LOVES their pastries which always look as good as they taste. I also appreciate that you can order a variety of mini pastries in advance. Their new location is beautiful, very clean, and a great place to meet for coffee or get some work done. They have an expansive menu with a number of unique flavor options. They're also very innovative because in addition to all of the usual staples, they also offer new, creative takes classic pastries like their flavored cannoli fillings. Highly recommend.
