During the month of January, we had a ton of snow fall. And, because it stayed cold, none of it melted. As a result, we ended up with ice dams on three sides of our house. I had called a number of local roofing contractors. All of them were booked solid for weeks. And, we did not want to hire just anyone to shovel snow off our roof and possibly do more damage to the roof. The worst ice dam caused water to leak in between a wall in our garage. Then we began to notice that we had leaks coming through the roofs over both of our decks. And, each day, the leaks were getting closer to the walls of the house. So, we knew we had to do something. My husband had seen signs around town about removing ice dams with steam. So, I did some research on the internet. The Ice Dam Guys' website contained a ton of information. I think I read pretty much everything that was there and got quite an education. Lots of good and useful information there. So, I called at 10am and Daniel was at our door 45 minutes later. We did a visual inspection of the roof with him. He confirmed that yes, we had ice dams on 3 sides of our house. Daniel was very pleasant, knowledgeable, answered our questions, and was ready to start work. We asked that he let us know when the first two hours were up so that we could check and see how far he'd gotten and approximately how much longer it would take. At the end of the first two hours, Daniel rang the doorbell and we went out and looked to see how much had been taken care of. The worst ice dam was gone. The evidence lay in our driveway -- a huge pile of snow and ice chunks, most of which were 8 - 10 inches in diameter. So, we knew it would be a few more hours yet to finish the work. Five hours and 45 minutes later, the ice dams were gone. And, the leaks had stopped coming down through the roofs over the decks! That was quite a stress reliever! Daniel was a very hard worker. I don't think he ever took a break. I could hear him constantly walking around on the roof, I could see chunks of ice/snow coming down from the roof, and I could see the steam from the machine. Steaming ice dams from roofs is expensive, but I slept 12 hours straight that night, knowing that the roof was okay. I can't give enough praise to Jay and Jake and the Ice Dam Guys! Here in the Treasure Valley we do get snow. We get the pretty kind of snow where we get a few inches and makes everything a sparkly winter wonderland and then it melts. It's perfect and never "typically" lasts more than a day or two, at most. This winter was different. We were hit storm after storm. We had an accumulation like no one had ever seen before in out valley. Literally. It broke records. All records. They were turning me away as they were booked weeks out. They did not want my business nor did they need my business. I didn't have weeks. I had tenants left and right experiencing major water intrusion inside their building. One in particular was leaking so bad that it was as if someone had turned on a faucet inside their business. When I thought I had no other options I heard that the Ice Dam Guys were traveling to Idaho to help. From my first call to Jay I could tell that we would be in good hands. I've lived in New England for decades, never really knew what an ice dam was until this winter. Now I know more than I'll ever need to know. For weeks I had been staring at the giant ice dam on my rear gutter. It didn't seem to be doing any damage so I just left it. The winter was almost over, I had gotten through the worst of it.....or so I thought. I awoke one morning to find a large stain on my dining room ceiling. Above this ceiling is a walk in closet on the 2nd floor. The walls of the closet were also stained. It was a relatively warm day so the foot of snow on my roof was finally starting to melt. After weeks of freezing temperatures, we were due for four or five days of temperatures in the upper 40's. I knew I had to do something. I started making phone calls. All the local guys were either busy or not answering their phones. That's when a friend told me about the Ice Dam Guys from Minnesota. I called them, left a voicemail, and 10 minutes later I was speaking with someone. Eight hours later a truck arrived in my driveway with a Minnesota plate. We can't tell you how glad we are that we called Ice Dam Guys. We were rewarded with fast, courteous, efficient service at a cost, while not inexpensive, was a fraction of what a new roof and walls would have cost. Many of our neighbors were not as fortunate. We had a record snowfall here in Idaho last winter, (over 48 inches overall non-stop once with 16 inches overnight,) and it was more than we could handle without professional help. Locally, many structures had already collapsed from the build-up and we were fearful of the enormous weight on our roof from 3+ feet of compressed snow, not to mention the terrible 12 inch thick ice dams! Most severe winter in Idaho in 33 years. After noticing two ice dams on my roof, on a Sunday morning, I called the Ice Dam Guys and left a voice mail message. I received a prompt return phone call. Jay answered all of my questions and an appointment was set for Monday morning - super quick. The three man crew arrived on-time, explained the process, and promptly started removing the ice dams. I was impressed with the professionalism of the crew, and the speed at which they worked. The ice dams were removed within 45-minutes and the crew removed additional snow from the roof, keeping the entire job to the minimum of one hour. The employees are rugged individuals. The lead of the three man crew is a hunting guide and Iraq war veteran. The other two individuals are outdoorsman. It takes a special type of person do the demanding and dangerous job of accessing a snowy roof in the winter, and dealing with the elements. Jay did an exceptional job of following-up to verify if I was satisfied with the work and Jay has always been available to answer questions. The cost for the services was well worth the investment. The alternative was risking water penetrating into my house, and the hassle of remediation. I"m a New Englander and lived in Massachusetts most of my life. We have had record snow falls, but this year topped them all. Not so much as the total, but that it just piled up. And therefore major ice dams and finally water seeping into the house. I had noticed a road sign not far fro where I live about ice dam removal so I went back to get the information. It was a sign for the Ice Dam Removal Guys. I looked them up and researched treatment for ice dams realizing the steam method they used was the way to go. I had no choice, we needed help so I called them and made arrangments to have my roof done. The person who came was very friendly and a very hard worker. He was on our roof for 5 hours solid, refusing to quit until he was done, working well into the dark. Being available, working hard and professionally and getting the job done right - I couldn't have been more pleased with my choice to have these guys do the work I needed. It is expensive however so is rebuilding your home from the damage that ice dams create, MORE SO. I dislike these people that criticize work after it is done only by not rating the company on the work they do but for the price they paid after they have agreed to it. And, it isn't that these people didn't know the cost before venturing into the agreement. Plus, I, for one, wouldn't want to get on top of my roof with snow and ice and try and cleaning it off myself and end up on the ground DEAD. I wonder if they every realized that. I think people just like to BITCH. I have feedback on E-bay and I get that sometimes. No matter how much to try to please people there is that 1% that you can NEVER satisfy. But this company bent over backwards to get the job done fast and efficient and that is truly a good sign of a good company. I called them Sat night at 7pm, they returned my call at 11 that night, and the guy was on my roof working at 10 the next morning, saving me thousands of dollars in contractors fees for the damage a bad ice dam might have created. We had an unusually severe winter in Bend, OR (2016-2017) - 5 feet of snow from early December to mid-January, with virtually no melting in between snow storms. As a result, thick ice dams (several inches thick) developed on our eaves, particularly on the north side of the house. At about 1 AM a slow drip started in the master bedroom. Later that morning before I went to work I went to work, I called Ice Dam Guys. Ty showed up within the hour & started working. He worked virtually non-stop for 6 hours to clear that ice dams (as I said the ice dams were very thick - 6 or more inches in some places - & our roof has a steep pitch, which made his job that much more difficult). We had a fairly large leak in the kitchen & adjoinging bathroom ceilings due to ice dam buildup during this past horrible winter. I tried contacting some local companies who, due to heavy volume, were not able to help me. I called Ice Dam Removal Guys and they were able to come out in under 48 hours and used the steam method to remove the ice dams, both front & back, upper and lower. The worker was working in frigid weather under really unpleasant conditions but did an excellent job. The fact they were able to get out here as quickly as they did, I have no doubt the damage was held to much less then what it could have been. Very professional and pleasant. The cost, while higher then I had hoped to spend and due to the thickness of the ice dam, it took longer then I anticipated, it was money well spent in the end. I'd recommend them to anyone. Like everyone else this winter was a nightmare, The ice dams thick and hard, my husband and I tried to keep up, but it was impossible. We had leaks in several rooms and another foot of snow predicted. The roof wouldn't have held up under more snow. I called Ice Dam on Friday morning and they called me back the same day and was able to remove the ice before the snow storm. The guys were very nice, they introduced themselves and let me know they had additional staff training so I wouldn't be uncomfortable. They kept me informed of what they were doing. It took about 5 or more hours to get all that Ice off, and I know it was cold out, but the guys were friendly and polite. After about 80 inches of snow in just over two weeks, we had the largest ice dam I've ever seen. It was over a foot thick and solid ice. Significant water was leaking into our dinning room and I didn't know what to do. Once the ice dams started melting we had some very heavy leaking in our living room. The ceiling was ruined, as was the insulation in the attic. It was a disaster! In the Boston Metrowest area, here. We got pounded with 3 storms in the last 2 weeks, and ended up with 8 inches or more of snow on the roof. Due to the cathedral ceiling over the living/dining rooms, we had ice several inches thick on the gutters, and water dripping down the inside of one of the storm windows in the living room. Called at 10:30AM, and got the owner. He had someone there by 6. Unlike a previous crew we had (4 guys with sledgehammers, who messed up the roof so badly, we needed it replaced that spring), this was one guy, with a steam hose unit on the back of his truck. It wasn't cheap, but cheaper than replacing the roof again (and 1/2 what the clown show charged us.) Totally recommend! read more

I was skeptical because I had never heard of this method of ice dam removal but I was desperate and the roof was leaking in multiple places so I decided to take a chance and I am so very glad I did. When I first talked to the appointment setter on the phone I was impressed with the information he gave me. They came when they said they would. The guy was very professional and honest. We came home one day to discover water streaming down our living room wall.
