This place looks amazing. It's really cool inside loads of choices for food. Take away, sushi bar, Loads of whisky and sake. Service is amazing. Extremely attentive, very quick food and drinks. Staff are nice. But food is expensive you don't get much for what you paid for. Blue Crab salad had very little crab. Ebi temprua is quite oily, sashimi was good not great not bad. Sushi a is real good, Gyoza is sloppy but tasty

On the St Kilda Esplanade. Good Japanese food. Tasty, varied menu and you can have either a number of small dishes or larger dishes. Range of drinks, sake and wine to choose from. One if my all time favourite dishes is miso eggplant. I was disappointed in the presentation of this dish/ just three slices of eggplant with some miso sauce on top- usually this dish is half an eggplant with beautiful caramalized miso done under the grill. I was therefore quite disappointed with this dish.

So glad I finally got around to eating at Brother Shota, even if it didn't quite live up to my…read morehopes for it. The food is good, but this didn't even touch anywhere near my favourite Japanese restaurants. It's a good size place - plenty of tables for two and plenty for bigger groups. It can get noisy, but not to the point where you can't hear yourself think. The staff were friendly and attentive even if they did often linger and collect items one by one all throughout the evening off the table (even before dessert came, one guy was taking away the menu placemats, and when I had my elbows on it while looking at my phone, I felt him trying to rip it out from under me. Quite rude). I did feel the service/meal was quite rushed, and so if you're looking for a long night out at a restaurant with friends, it's definitely not that. The menu has a little bit of everything you know, and a few more unique things. We didn't order the tempura eggplant, yet the presentation was superb when we saw it arrive at other tables. Everything we ordered came out looking good. We shared their version of Chicken Karaage, and a really nice tuna sashimi taco. I ordered some tuna/salmon sushi rolls, and tried their Chicken Katsu Don. Everything was quite nice, but nothing especially so good that I'd rush right back. The restaurant itself is clean and modern looking and they had good music and there was a lovely atmosphere. Pricing is a little on the higher side and parking is a little on the frustrating side. Overall, I would come back again at some stage, but perhaps when they have a menu change and I'll know to come if you want just a nice, quick dinner.

Definitely a neighbourhood gem and one of the few places open in South Melbourne on a Sunday for…read moredinner. Also a place for takeaway. Choose from their expansive menu of salads, pages and pages of sushi (taro sushi or mango sushi anyone), salads, rice dishes (bestest most popular Japanese curry with rice and secret ingredients - as described in the menu), and udon noodles. My dinner companion wanted wagyu beef and was grossly disappointed. Mostly fish dishes with some chicken. We got the purple rice with eel. Beautifully served with four condiments including seaweed, chilli, wasabi, and some powdered spice. Eating requires a four step approach. First eat the fried teriyaki flavoured eel. Second, eat it with the condiments. Third, pour the broth over the rice and eat it all together. Fourth, yummy in your belly as you savour the experience. We also got their "best Japanese udon curry with secret ingredients". It was a thick curry with teriyaki sauce, grilled salmon, massive mushrooms, broccoli and tomato. Quite filling. We finished off with the Matcha ice cream which came with popped brown rice, blueberries, strawberries and corn flakes. Delicious and crunchy. The green tea mochi was interesting. Jelly like, flavorless and filled with red bean paste. Great service with staff passionate about Japanese cuisine. Beautiful fit out. Good for groups.

I'm very impressed by how quick the delivery and the presentation of the food. Fresh delivered sushi is really hard to come by and I really hope it keeps the quality. We loved our first try that we tried it a second time but this time their customer service came through. We called in because menulog wasn't allowing us to order and realized that they actually were closed already. The lady on the phone said she could still take our order and do one last delivery! The food was just as good and timely! 4/5 stars only because the pricing is higher than I'd like but to be fair everything in Melbourne is quite expensive.
