Decided to pop in this afternoon after doing some shopping in the area. Upon entering, we were greeted by the cashier with a welcoming smile. She was very helpful in understanding the portion sizes and what came with an entree versus a bowl. The spot is small and quaint, but definitely a must try! Now hubby got into the food before I could take pics, but TRUST the food is good. It has a good taste, you get more than your share in portion sizes. The cost is way less than other restaurants I've visited where I've received significant less. So if you're looking for a place to try out, drop by and order something. We spent a few minutes browsing over the menu before walking up to order - I'm not a fan of sushi so I ordered the chicken teriyaki entree, which comes with teriyaki chicken, rice, and vegetables. He ordered the special yum yum sushi roll. First off I just wanna say the portions are huge. You really get your money's worth here. By the time I was done eating in looked like I barely touched my bowl. For $8 or it sure looked like I got $20 worth of food. I did try my partners sushi and though I'm not a fan it didn't taste all too bad. He enjoyed the sushi but said it wasn't anything special. My teriyaki chicken also wasn't bad but it was definitely lacking in flavor and I don't think I'd choose to order it again. Overall the place was decent. It's located in a nice convenient area, the portions are great, the restaurants clean, but the food definitely needs more flavor. Yippie! Now I can have good, fresh, well-prepared, affordable sushi close to home without having to spring for a big night out! I was so excited to hear about a new Sushi-focused restaurant opening up a hop, skip, and jump (and cheap Uber ride) from me! On a 93 degree Georgia summer day, with no will left in me to cook, my companion and I popped into Ichiban Grill for a healthy meal that didn't require us to prep, cook, or clean up. At 8 PM on a Tuesday the place was nearly packed! That says something very positive about this place. The restaurant was spotless with clean lines and traditional Japanese decor. It is small, but it felt cozy rather than cramped. We chose to sit at the little sushi chef station. First of all, I love that the dishes are all marked and displayed by the register so that you can clearly see how much you are ordering. We opted for the sashimi and sushi combination. The portions on the sashimi slices were VERY generous - nearly double that of other restaurants. All the sushi was tender and tasted fresh, and I was pleased to have both octopus, a favorite of mine, and white salmon included. The staff was very friendly, the service fast, the sushi chef skilled at a beautiful display of fresh choices, and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Most of the restaurants that serve good sushi locally are a bit fancy, requiring (for me, anyway) a bit of makeup, and nice outfit, and a whole lot more money out of pocket for the pleasure of having sushi. For fresh, affordable sushi in a clean but casual environment, DEFINITELY try Ichiban Grill! Note: food only and non-alcoholic beverages. Ichiban Grill is a cool addition to the Publix shopping center on 92. The restaurant is small, mostly self serving, and pretty quick with the service. The price of the food is similar to the costs of nearby sushi restaurants. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because most of the items are served in plastic or styrofoam at the table (see pics, only sushi is served on a regular plate) and the prices of sushi are comparable to full service restaurants, and this is not a full service restaurant. I'm assuming this keeps costs low but I strongly hope they recycle. For dinner we had the a good mix of items and overall the food was decent for the price. The only things I did not like were the shrimp friend rice express bowl- it's just shrimp and rice but not the fried rice I expected (bland, no veggies/egg)- and the miso soup, a bit too lukewarm for my taste but that's just me. Otherwise everything else tasted fresh. Teriyaki wings, hands down the best in town. And then there's the sushi of course, good size pieces and made well. Overall this restaurant is a great choice if you come at an off hour or if you have it to go/delivered. Because if it's small size, four - 4 person booths and two - 6 person tables, I don't know if this would be ideal for the lunch/dinner rush but if you catch it at the right time it would be nice or grab your food to go, since it comes in take-out containers anyway. This is day 2 of their operation and so far so good. I would definitely return and try more things! read more

The Hibachi and Sushi option is good if you cannot decide what you want. The Steak Hibachi for dinner is a large portion as I ate it over 3 meals. The Salmon Sushi Roll was as expected and is a good choice. I will revisit to try different Sushi options. read more

This place is so yummy! I ordered the deep fried Dynamite Roll and a house salad with ginger dressing. Let me begin with the house salad and ginger dressing. The salad consists of what I think is iceberg lettuce from the bag, though I could be wrong. There's nothing special about it but I will say it was crunchy and fresh. The dressing was amazing! The perfect blend of sweetness mixed with the fresh taste of ginger. It was creamy and thick but not to thick, it was the perfect consistency. Next, the Dynamite roll. The crab, shrimp, and cream cheese roll was deep fried to a perfect and delicious crisp. It was topped with a brown sweet sauce, but of the name. I got tricked so hard by all of the reviews on here and the high rating on Uber Eats. Maybe I ordered on a bad day, but everything was bad. I don't understand how this place has such high reviews. I ordered the steak hibachi with fried rice, "tempura" wings, and some sushi roll. The steak was overcooked making it dry and tough and the "fried rice" with it was a sad excuse for fried rice. It looked like some regular cooked rice with soy sauce poured over it without ever touching a frying pan and tasted exactly like it. The yum yum sauce couldn't even help any of that. The "tempura" wings were just regular fried wings that had no flavor. I should have known better since the menu said it was served with ranch, which is a travesty to use on tempura fried food. The batter was flat and over fried making the meat dry. Tempura batter should be puffed up with a light and airy crispness to it which these wings had none of. The sushi was the worst of them all. I don't even remember which one we ordered but the fish was so stinky and fishy smelling that it was inedible. They do not use fresh fish or they don't care that the fish is old and will serve subpar quality food to customers. The roll was not cheap either and the quality did not warrant a high price. Usually when I order delivery and have a bad experience, I would give them a second chance if I were to actually isn't in person. In this case, the sushi was of such poor quality that I would not trust they care about the quality of their ingredients for anything they make. Throw it out if it's old and fishy smelling! Beware...OLD FOOD! I don't like to write reviews but I feel the need to do so because of health reasons. We ordered from Ichiban Grill and the sushi was so bad. Super fishy smell and taste. I understand places are also raising their prices due to inflation as well, but it was super frustrating to spend that much on dinner we had to throw out because it was so bad and old. When we were leaving I was already nervous as the container of salmon had a label that was sitting in the glass cooler turned towards us with the date on it. It was put in there are May 17th at 11:45 am (we went on May 19th) and had instructions to be thrown out May 23rd. Finally! A great sushi spot in Woodstock! This restaraunt is a welcomed addition to the Woodstock area. It's located in the Publix shopping plaza across from the Walmart on 92. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. We went during lunch and ordered two sushi rolls and a bowl of chicken fried rice. There was plenty of booths and seating available to handle the lunch crowds. The sushi tasted fresh and both were quite delicious. I'm not a sushi connoisseur so I asked for suggestions from the lady at the register. That was a good choice! The roll she recommended was delicious and I can't believe how good the chicken fried rice was! They offer hibachi choices as well but I didn't try those. The yummy sauce is so good I order extras to use in different dips and sauces. And if you have leftover spring rolls fear not! This was my first time at Ichiban Grill (its only been here a week or so, I think). My husband and I were hungry and in the mood for something healthy, but I really need good atmosphere, too. This place didn't disappoint!! To make it even better the staff was fun and pleasant:-) We ordered the chicken and steak entree bowls which were delicious!! There's enough left for lunch tomorrow, too, which is always good for stretching a dollar. The place had a steady stream of customers, yet there was adequate seating.
