However, the fried rice is a hit or miss and it has missed the last two times I came. There is a flavor that is missing. I can't pinpoint it. It doesn't taste like authentic fried rice. I went here with a couple friends on Wednesday Oct. 18th 2023 around 7pm. We were seated promptly and our waiter Michael came to our table immediately to get our drink orders. I have only one complaint and it is a small one: the only tea they have is green tea, I was hoping for Oolong but it's ok. I ordered the General Tso's chicken bowl with fried rice and with crispy rolls. The chicken was excellent, with a sweet and little spice tang to it, plenty of sauce to soak the rice, and a very substantial portion size for the price. The bowl came with a small side salad and choice of sushi rolls, which I ordered the crispy rolls. Now the rolls themselves tasted ok but they put way too much sesame seed on then, which took away most of the flavor and added a horrible texture. The green tea was weak and not very satisfying to complement the meal. My friend had the spicy salmon rolls and they also were excellent, and my new favorite. Our server Michael was great. I consider this restaurant to be a fusion type of hibachi and Chinese cuisine. We came as a larger party of 12 around 9:00pm on a Friday and there were able to accommodate our party as the restaurant was not super busy. Once seated our server came over promptly to greet us and take our drink orders. Giving us a few minutes she came back to take our orders. I chose the spring rolls and the chicken and salmon hibachi with fried rice. The meal comes with salad also and I chose the ginger dressing for mine. The salad was just Ok however due to the dressing being watery. I enjoyed the spring rolls that came out out nice and crispy and 3 different dipping sauces that i tried all together and enjoyed. My entree came and i was disappointed at the portion size of the chicken (i was told it come with 4oz) and i was not a fair of the vegetables mix which had mostly cabbage, broccoli and carrots which is different from what i normally have served with hibachi style meals so i was expecting and want zucchini, mushrooms,onions, etc. i consider this restaurant to be more of a fusion because other guest were able to order items like general Taos chicken and sesame chicken for there entrees. Extremely disappointed in tonight's dining experience. They have a bus boy who doesn't believe in the belt concept for his jeans and several times while he's clearing up tables around us his pants were half way down his butt. Now if I wanted to see low riding jeans on someone I would have stayed back in California. We visited the Tellus Museum and this place came up as a top eatery. It was 12 minutes away, and we're always up for good sushi. This may be fantastic for Cartersville, but it was mediocre and boring to our family. We know good Japanese and this was not one. He had the filet mignon medium rare with fries and used a pair of chopsticks, not very Japanese lol. I got the spicy tuna roll and side ginger salad, bliss. I would give it a 5 star if the prices were commensurate to the taste which is a 4 compared to Thai Basil Sushi Zen, both owned by Eddie Yap, a great friend and restaurateur. If I could take stars away it still would be correct. Truly the worst customer service from management. Will not let you walk in to pick up a call in. You are to wait in line at the window. I feel very sorry for door dash or any person trying to make a living picking up food there . I have literally waited 25 min or longer. Tonight included. I have had lunch at Okinawa a few times and every time I had a good experience. The service is pretty good and we get our food quickly. The first time I visited I had the chicken teriyaki. It was good and they give you a large portion so I was plenty full by the end of the meal but sushi rolls are definitely their specialty. I really like their deep fried or fried sushi options since eating raw sushi has always been something I stay away from. Each sushi roll comes with about 10 pieces so I only need 2 rolls to fill me up plus the meal includes miso soup or salad. I recommend their crispy crab roll and submarine roll. I highly suggest you visit during their lunch hours for discount pricing. I was able to get 2 sushi rolls and a salad for $10. One problem I always have here is finding parking because the parking lot gets really crowded during lunch hours. Be prepared but the sushi is still worth the hassle. read more

There is nothing quite like the anticipation of your favorite comfort food after a long hard day at work. Okinawa has been our go-to for takeout when we don't feel like cooking, until today. For the third time in less than 6 weeks, I've gotten takeout or delivery with absolutely NO sauces included for any of the 4 meals in my order. Japanese food without any sauce is like a burger without any beef- it sucks. For this specific order, I even paid for extras and included a note with the order submission to make sure they were not left out again. Nothing came with the delivery so I called Okinawa to let them know. The girl who answered the phone sounded horrified at the omission and asked me to hold for the manager, who proceeded to tell me I was welcome to come pick them up or I could call Door Dash to ask them to make another delivery. Mind you, this was Okinawa's mistake, not Door Dash's. If I had time to drive 25 minutes to pick up numerous missing containers of sauce, I would've paid a smaller price and driven there to begin with. And Door Dash was definitely not willing to make a second delivery, though they did refund the money for the missing items with no hassle at all. One time is understandable. Even after the second time, I figured it was just coincidence and they must be overwhelmingly busy. But for a 3rd consecutive time and to tell me to call Door Dash to have them correct Okinawa's mistake?! No thanks. Tokyo and Kobe offer delivery as well, and they will get my business from now on. read more

Okay, the crappy customer service that didn't really bother me before has started to really, really bother me. It culminated in a take-out order when I was told it would take 20 minutes. I ordered at noon (and my order was keyed in at noon as well according to the ticket). I arrive a little before 12:20. They said it would be right out, which was no problem since I'd gotten there a little early. I finally got my food at 12:43. Why did it take 43 minutes to make two sushi rolls? I've been to Okinawa a few times and have never regretted it. Sure, it probably isn't going to win any awards for best Japanese food ever, but its a fantastic value, and everyone has always been helpful. In my experience eating at off-peak times seems to yield better meals than peak times. Sometimes it seems like my food was pulled out of a large batch made for the rush rather than an individually prepared meal. That doesn't mean its bad per se, just not 100% fresh. And when I have been off-peak the food was great. It's hibachi without time it takes for an actual tepanyaki experience Bottom line, if you want some relatively quick Japanese for a good price, Okinawa is a good choice. I will admit I'm not much of a sushi person, so I cannot really comment on that, but as far as the hibachi goes, yummy! read more
