I give Doctor Holt 5-STARS since he is extremely kind and qualified. However, ICON appointment scheduling is pretty awful for both the patient and doctor, so I give them 1-STAR. I have been a regular patient at ICON for about 4 years and it is not uncommon to find patients being over-booked or even double-booked for the exact same appointment times. This results in SUPER long wait times-as in waiting over 2 hours before even seeing the doctor. Doctor Holt seamlessly blends deep clinical expertise with high emotional intelligence. He communicates well, listens intently, and treats the whole patient with kindness and respect. And I believe he actually loves his job! However, witnessing the breakneck speed at which he must move between his patients is painful. Burnout in physicians is real. I hate to think that one day Doctor Holt may find himself both physically and emotionally exhausted because the thing he loved, the thing he was SO good at, no longer holds meaning. It is my impression that Dr. Holt is an 'on-staff' employee of ICON Eyecare-a corporation that obviously views their patients as 'time-slots' and 'revenue' AND their physicians as 'workhorses'. If this is the case, it screams profit over people which is both wasteful and stupid. The demand for good eye care is obviously high in Grand Junction, so given the backlog of patients why doesn't ICON Eyecare hire another doctor to assist Dr. Holt with his workload? read more

I've seen them repeatedly for dry eye and possible cateracs and they never actually do anything for me they just keep scheduling additional appointments to check things and they never do anything including informing me of possible problems. I just googled my problem and in less than five minutes found a possible aid which they never even gave me a hint that that may help??? read more

I was a bit skeptical at first since the building is new and the office feels very 'sanitary,' if that makes sense. The bright lights and everything gave off a clinical vibe, but the front desk staff were friendly and professional. I met with Dr. Ferris after seeing multiple specialist and Dr.s for some eye issues.Dr.Ferris put my troubles to rest when he eliminated scary possibilities that other doctors had feared through thorough examination. He was patient and kind and very thoughtful with his process and delivery. He discovered an issue that was repairable (not my best case scenario and not my worst). He completed my referral for a retina specialist the same day. He took the time to help me, wish I could give him 10 stars. read more

My daughter and I both have had cataract surgery here, the staff, the doctors were all great. But we were both told the total for all would be a certain amount and after it was done, another $600 or more was billed. We paid up front for the what we were told was the total cost. Do not see Dr. Eric Ferris @ the Foresight building in Grand Junction, CO. I literally have never had to argue with a doctor before this. I came to this practice because I am having an eye issue that my PCP told me could potentially require surgery. Severe redness that is impeding my vision, massive headaches with severe discomfort & I was told by Dr. Ferris that I have pressure in my left eye that is at a 28 (mind you, eye pressure above 20 is alarming) this doctor told me it is because I have been using the incorrect contact solution, WTF!!. I use Re'Nu & have for 21 years & have NEVER EVER had this issue before. Dr. Ferris was RUDE, SNIPPY & treated me as if I was lying about my condition. My eye is beet red, burns like no other & he continued to add the yellow dye into both eyes, while the whole time my left eye that has the issue was burning like a mofo. He told me that the yellow dye had a pain relief in it & that it shouldn't be burning (then why was it) He kept examining my eye as though he was actually doing his job & was going to give me some information on how to treat this. All he gave me was some eye lube that was to condition my eye at night & then said to come back in 2 weeks. He dilated my eyes & thank god I had sunglasses with me, cuz when I went to check out I couldn't see anything - They didn't offer me anything except the bill of course. My eye issue is not resolved & 1 day after this appt, my eye is bulging & I have the worst headache ever. I swear a cross eyed bear could have done better. The girls that work in the front are amazing, very sweet & get you checked in quickly. Other than that, I will not be back read more

I would have given "ICON Eyecare" 5 stars, but there were two issues that needed to be addressed. 1. The employees that walked me out after surgery, 2 different times, gave me men's hard copy information concerning their surgeries. I am female. The second time I had to make a trip to give them the info., which was not mine. 2. Just before surgery, they gave me eye drops. My arms/hands were restrained, because they were getting me ready for surgery, so I couldn't blot my eyes. I asked the last gal to blot of my eyes, when I shouldn't have to. Dripping down my face. Dr. Tubbs is animated and very friendly. Takes the time to come and see you just before surgery and wants to know if there are questions. He's an excellent surgeon in my experience. I believe that this clinic has world class medicine. They have the latest equipment for eye exams. I was VERY pleased with the care I got from Dr. Holt. He took plenty of time and gave me a thorough eye exam. I thought I would need to travel to Denver to find a doctor that specializes in ocular surface disease. What a pleasant surprise to find the best doctor in the state right here in Grand Junction. I would definitely recommend Dr. Holt. Furthermore, the hygiene protocol in this clinic is excellent! They have one employee dedicated to continuously cleaning the exam rooms and equipment. read more

I came to ICON in GJT with the sole intention of having my cataracts assessed and subsequently addressed by their highly regarded ophthalmological and surgical staff. During my visit, very knowledgable and skilled techs assessed my eyes in many ways, applied painful eye drops twice and fully dilated my eyes. Everything and everyone was exceptionally fine in every way that matters up to and after I met my preassigned surgeon and assistant when the conversational "vibe" from my subjective perspective became outright "surreal". Maybe it was somehow related to my chronic challenges with anxiety and insomnia or an allergic reaction to the eyedrops, but that compressed part of my time spent at ICON truly seemed to me like a visit to the Black Lodge in Twin Peaks. So, after brooding over this admittedly "ambiguous" and "inexplicable" piece of my visit for over a day, I decided my unease could not be assuaged and because of this, I called back to a very professional and gracious coordinator and said that while I acknowledge that my subjective "opinions" are entirely on me, I could not with confidence proceed and thereby cancelled all of my upcoming follow-up appointments. I should have done this years ago. ICON is a fine-tuned professional operation - instilling confidence and competence - that maintains a warm and friendly environment. They were very patient-centric, making sure I understood every step of the process. The staff made all post-procedure care steps very clear, and provided paperwork that reiterated the info for later use. The facilities also represent the business, being clean and professional in appearance. Even the admin/reception staff was supportive and helped to alleviate anxiety through their conversation and personal experiences with LASIK. The procedure itself was incredibly short and absolutely painless. Anticlimactic, really. The team worked together in a manner that made it easy to just trust them and do my part of lying there. Doctor Fox explained everything as he worked, and maintained great communication throughout the procedure. I know the procedure is not appropriate for everyone, but I don't know why everyone who can do it doesn't get it done. We buy TVs that cost more than this, and shouldn't our vision come before 4K big screens? So, the results...I read many internet stories of outcomes, but here is mine: My procedure was in the afternoon, and then I went to my hotel for my required nap (had to bring a chauffeur for this part). My eyes felt irritated and photophobic, and fought me when I tried to keep them open, but weren't really painful. I still had no trouble navigating to my room. The drops eased this irritation completely, so sleeping was easy. I woke up four hours later to somewhat foggy vision; I had dinner in bed, and went back to sleep for six hours. When I awoke, I had no pain or irritation, and could see very clearly. It was practically instant. I felt amazed just looking out the window at the sunrise. My follow up that morning - which I drove to - showed my vision was not only corrected, but was better than average. I drove the 2 hours home with no pain or irritation, enjoying the clearest scenery I've observed since I was young. A great experience and I could not be happier. read more

If you have copd. Dr Sanders was more concerned in selling the cataract surgery then realizing underlying conditions that could cause issues with surviving the surgery. My mother reiterated she had copd and was simply told they had oxygen. On the day of the surgery she was started on the drops. Her pulse ox was too low and surgery was cancelled . When someone has underlying conditions those need to be addressed . She should have known at that time she wasn't on home oxygen so surgery should have not been scheduled Fault lays into her not carefully questioning her total health. Also strange pre op physical cleared also when pulse ox was low and AFIB popped up within months. We have had a great experience with the care received at ICON Eyecare. The Drs are caring and remember my husband when he comes in. He has had Lasik surgery, with a second surgery on one eye, and now recently had cataract surgery. In each instance, the staff and Drs are personable and competent. Annette, one of the schedulers, went beyond great in working with our health insurance to get paperwork filed for pre-authorization. Dr. Anderson has provided outstanding care throughout all the procedures, and Dr. Waggonner was excellent in the surgery. Thank you to all the staff and Drs. Dr. Fox has now worked on both my eyes, and I could not be happier! I was blind in one eye, and he removed the extremely thick cataract successfully. He even postponed the surgery (to my frustration) to use a new piece of testing gear they had ordered. It gave me the best chance of getting my sight back, so I waited the extra month. Glad I did, as I could see once again from that eye! A few months later, I started to go blind in the other eye from an ultra fast growing cataract, and once again, Dr. Fox and his staff were right there, using an updated lens and laser techniques to quickly get me fixed once again. I highly recommend this world class eye surgeon. The amount of testing gear may be intimidating, but he has the latest and best gear for his operation. The extensive testing can seem overwhelming and somewhat impersonal, but the number of people going through that office is shocking, and efficiently is important. The staff has always been friendly, and the choices for solutions are clearly explained such as lens options for my cataract surgery. My first cataract surgery by Dr. Fox was on 1/23/16. I have not had a day without pain since. The 2nd was 2/11/16, and it only got worse. While Dr. Collins, who did the follow up, tried his best to help me, I think it was beyond his area of training. I felt like I was run though a factory, and as I did not emerge a successful "product", was thrown on the trash heap. When I got my medical files to look for help elsewhere, I found mistakes (such as my age) and misinformation. I was led to believe cataract surgery would make my life better, quite the reverse! read more

I took a family member of mine in to be examined for their cataracts. Icon and Dr. Fox came highly recommended by many. The front desk gal who checked us in, Natosha, was rude from the start. She seemed annoyed and irritated that we had missed a signature and struggled to find our insurance cards. She continued to have extremely unprofessional conversations as we sat and waited for our appointment. If we could of cancelled this appointment right then we would have. As a front desk associated I would expect a better behavior, this is the face of your business. Everyone else in the office was such a delight. I can say the honestly saved our appointment. Unfortunately due to her rudeness, manors and being completely unprofessional we will not be returning nor will will be recommended this office to others. read more

I had surgery about 9 months ago now. I wanted to wait for the full outcome of the surgery before posting a review. And I am glad I did as my eyes came in and out for the first couple of months (this was explained perfectly by them) Dr. Fox did an amazing job! Not only are my eyes exceeding all expectations. Dr. Fox and his team also did a wonderful job explaining the process and how my eyes would feel and look months down the road they were spot on all the way.
